The key to this build/strategy is to increase your survival rate and prolong the time you can stay ascended. The kineticist's niche is the increased damage output and damage resistance from ascension.
BUILD:
Pull: 1 point
Throw (Rank 6): Rank4 - force/damage, Rank 5 - duration, Rank 6 - double throw
Lance (Rank 6): Rank 4 - damage/force, Rank 5 - focused blast/weak point, Rank 6 - knockdown/damage
Acension (Rank 6): Rank 4 - Damage/Power , Rank 5 - combo damage/radius, Rank 6 - EFFICIENT ACENSION
Barrier (Rank 6): Rank 4 - Unyielding/+30% shields, Rank 5 - Biotic Link , Rank 6 - Saving Barrier
EQUIPMENT: Multicapacitor!
Decrease Shield Regen Delay by 100% You need this!
The multicapacitor is key to recharging your shields fast enough after you've activated biotic ascension a.k.a all your powers are shield powered. It is also key to your survival.
WEAPON 1: A high ROF ranged assault rifle that ammo primes easy.
P.A.W - If the RNG demon was kind enough to get you all the way up to Rank X and further provide a siphon variant.
OR
Revenant Siphon - Easier to get, becomes a beast when you put a scope on it.
WEAPON 2: A high ROF pistol that ammo primes easy
Hurricane - If the RNG demon was kind enough to get you all the way up to Rank X and further provide a siphon variant.
OR
Equalizer Siphon - Easier to get.
Note: Without a relatively ranged siphon weapon, you'll be an annoying dead weight to your squad.
OTHER:
- There are a staggering number of armored enemies in plat. Without incendiary ammo for priming, you don't get far. The kineticist does not have a power that primes shielded/armored enemies by itself. So you're stuck with priming ammo.
- Slap red bars with double throw or pull. The duration evolve for double throw lets you double detonate with ascended lance. For shielded enemies, strip shields with your paw or revenant and pull/lance or throw/lance thereafter. Hopefully, you've done some GITTING GUT by now and you know how to double detonate your double throw with ease. If you missed it, lets hope you knocked em off the map or the collision damage finished it off. Throw is a better use of your points for platinum than pull once you've met the learning curve. Either way, you get a second reliable priming power with Rank 5 throw and its always good to maximise your options. (well, throw primes even at rank 1, but, we all know, you are not that good).
- There are plenty of oh shit moments in platinum when you just need to escape from frightening spawns. The stagger from double throw will just give you that break so you can run like there's no tomorrow (this gal moves fast!). Rank 6 double throw will even stagger beserker twins. The double stagger and evade/run alone will save your hard earned ascension during that split second, when you needed it. It is for this reason that you maximise throw's force on rank 4.
- Pull still acts as a red bar primer at 1 point and offers its utility. Don't even remotely try that draining shield jazz from a rank 6 pull like you did on gold. Don't even try to pull something towards you and hurl it away at something like you did on gold. That simply doesn't work on platinum too well. You will get shot in the face very very fast, as you stood there exposed pulling like a fool. Pull is a great power, but just doesn't do much for you with this character in platinum. Expose from pull is good, but, hey, ya gotta sacrifice something. In any case, If you are an ardent pull fan from the days of gold and will start arguing this to death, go rank 5 expose on pull, rank 3 on throw (just forget the benefits of Rank 6 throw mentioned above and work your pull). You may be able to make pull work as well.
- Detonate with lance as much as possible. Lance detonation does way more damage than throw detonation.
- Rank 6 Efficient acension gets you get 130 DR, ascension kill count drops to 3 and consumes much less shields. Don't get devastating ascension! One hit from a platinum enemy will knock out all your shields. You will probably never be able to use it with the devastating evolution (2 extra kills to ascend and way more shield consumption). You do sacrifice the increased damage from devastating ascension.
- You can quickly spam lance 5 times with efficient ascension. Lance damage: 740 base damage at rank 6, +40% weak point, +45% from ascension, +50% lance combo damage from ascensiion, +% Veteran Bonuses depending on character level, +30% from level 3 Biotic power consumable. Lance damage adds up quickly when you spam it during ascension.
- For Ascension Rank 5, Exposure has little use in platinum because of the sheer number of armored/shielded enemies. You will be causing a lot of fire explosions (ammoprime/lance) on armored enemies. Hence, you'd want to maximise combo damage/radius (5b) from ammo priming.
- It can still be frustrating to hold ascension because literally 1 hit from an enemy will ruin your ascension. So be very careful and never fight close range.
- I was able to hold my own with 3 cloaking pugs last night. FYI, The kineticist and 3 cloakers is the worst case scenario test for her surivial. I had anything and everything on the screen abusing me non-stop, while the cloak boys did their dirty (slipped in and out of scru...i mean cowar...i mean, ahem, cloak mode!) and i survived! I dropped 3 times during the 7 rounds and came 2nd on the score chart. MULTCAPACITOR truly is a god send for this character.
- Also, keep in mind, she's a squishy difficult character to play on platinum and her dps will go way down hill if you can't stay ascended. But, she'll keep your adrenalin pumping once you figure it out. Do some GITTING GUT before you take this character to platinum or you'll be frustrated.
