You mean the game is demanding on the graphics or have I misunderstood? I've often wondered if that's the issue since most of the problems I had were gone after I bought a new laptop... I actually mean, that so much energy, or resources(?) are put on quality of graphics, that when a game is being developed, things such as playability and flaws seem to be completely overlooked. The game being demanding on hardware is just a whole new issue with games. With a constant increase in visual pleasure, there is a constant upgrade. My PC plays andromeda at a acceptible rate on ultra settings. But I know for a fact as in the clip of UE4, if a game came out like that, I'd have to upgrade. Age and income level differ widely within the gaming community. For instance, I am an 'older' guy who hangs out with other older guys (age bracket: 40-65). I'd think that the RPG genre is pretty much dominated by this group (they don't play the mindless FPSs out there). Typically, many of these guys have steady jobs, fall in higher income brackets and are willing to pay beacoup bucks for hardware and the graphics rain. They like to see something purty as they sit in their mancaves with a bottle of whisky at the end of the day man. I am sure game developers are well aware of this segment of their customer base.

lol, no. The average NPC is W3 has more bones in their head than the best hero model in MEA has in their entire body, same for base polycount, never mind tessellation, which actually doesn't exist in hero models and props for MEA. Realtime tesselation is still a novelty and mostly just a GPU time eater, in rare cases it works ok (edge tesselation only for example). I have no idea about W3 bones or polygons, but it seems Ryders were 61k and 65k fem, male. In W2 Geralt of Rivia (Seltkirk) - 32k polys. Geralt's face has 6000 'tirangles' according to CDPR's infographic, which is (only slightly) lower than the 65K of Broryder's entire body... Character models consists of 20K Poly's in TW2 and up to 40K Polygons in The Witcher 3. No tesselation in the latter models either, except for Hairworks that is...
