I hear the trumpinator wanted to voice a quarian, but was denied by EA.
And that's why we can't have jiggly quarian bumbum.

As the Ron Swanson of America...
All I have to say is this:
America has the single, greatest asset: H-1B visa.
It's used when there is a shortage of specific talent needed here in the US. However, there isn't a shortage and that's why the reduction. Before all the liberals (especially the non-American Canadians who think what's best for America... derp.) lose their mind... it's a normal practice. We take care of Americans at home first and then open the doors when a vacancy is available. That's all it is. Cheap-ass companies like EA like hiring foreignors because they're disposable, cheap assets. PERIOD. Once they're use is up, back you go unless you strive for American citizenship (and why not? You're here paying taxes, you love your home and neighbors... STAY! Your kids will be born American and maybe become a doctor, a cop, firefighter, soldier, a chef, an artist, a scientist, a chemist, etc.) The visa program has been a detriment to American job seekers for the last decade in the tech field. Of course it has! Why pay $95k for a tech when you get a foreigner for about two or three years at half the cost? That's the abuse of it and it's gone on long enough. So, take it easy. I'm all for melting pot, but we take care of our own... just like every other nation. If you say the opposite, you're wrong.

I hear the trumpinator wanted to voice a quarian, but was denied by EA. And that's why we can't have jiggly quarian bumbum. That's okay. He can voice the Benefactor. Then it will be a lot of fun to tell him "NO." Seriously, that's the issue. The guy has never, ever taken "No" for an answer. He schemes his way out of a no and that's his best asset and unfortunately, his worst trait. He's a symptom of broken promises, an economy that has weakened America with horrible trade agreements and very little growth. America is at it's best when we're producing for the future... not for the present. I'm not here to engage the merits of Trump either. I didn't vote for him or Clinton (another opportunist in my opinion) and I fully expect him NOT to seek a second term. He got what he wanted: the presidency. Centuries from now, his name will be echoed with the likes of Garfield, Buchanan, Tyler and Van Buren. They were presidents, too.

Considering how quick turnover tends to be in game development compared to other software industries, I highly doubt there is a dearth of talent. I'd say there is a surplus of talent. The health and breadth of indie gaming also suggests this.
What EA is complaining about is probably a lack of low wage highly skilled talent, which is rectified by recruiting from countries with lower expectations on pay. Trump is an incompetent lying asshole, but EA is bitching about not being able to exploit foreign workers as much, and sites are spinning that whining into something virtuous. Par for the course.

That was pretty much my takeaway as well. Gotta tell ya, I just feel so bad for all those EA execs and how this will cut into their bottom line. Poor Andrew Wilson might have to forgo the 24K gold paint job on his new Maserati this year if it keeps up. Just how do these poor folks survive such terrible conditions?

Oh gee, more companies complaining they can't get people to work as cheaply as they want.
Maybe try raising wages if you want skilled, engaged workers and can't find them for what you're paying. Free market ain't a one-way street.
Alternatively, every place that I know of an EA office in is reputably stupidly expensive to live. So that might also be a factor.

There is an EA office down the street from me, in a new fancy pants neighborhood. The median price for a 1 bedroom apartment there is $2625 USD per month. You go immediately outside that area still you're at a median of $1800 USD a month for a 1 bedroom apartment.

That's bordering on NYC prices and there is a reason it's that high. Sounds like Austin. San Antonio is starting to go through an influx of more people coming for the work opportunities (it's booming again... new construction is taking place everywhere.) It might be time to sell this place and get the hell out of this heat.

It might be time to sell this place and get the hell out of this heat. It's Los Angeles. The EA office is in a neighborhood called Playa Vista, which was built over an ancient Tongva burial ground (1000+ native bodies were exhumed and buried elsewhere) and a methane pocket. We have a lot of apartment buildings going up. Down the street in the opposite direction, a new luxury apartment building is going up, and rumor has it singles will start a $2500. Across the street, same deal. They're calling it "Silicon Beach" and "Silicon Beach adjacent". If we didn't live on property that's been in the family since the 50's, we'd be long gone.
