How many MP players on each platform?

Not sure how we'd know this, especially # of active players? Anyway, on the app, I've a few friends with 0 Apex points (must have just installed only?) who rank 1,261,794 & 891,835 (they don't show up in challenges). One friend who played one bronze with me ranks 266,941 on challenge points. On PS4

wth... my game crashes trying to check the ranking?

anyway, there may be 952k people who purchased on PC...lol but there are what 7 people at peak pugging platinum on PC. (in my area) Someone else suggested that everyone is playing in private with friends... well, that would mean that effectively there is NO ONE playing platinum.

Us filthy casuals can do great things if we stick together! I have great success in platinum leeching off my friends, and in return I provide witty banter in discord while I bleed out

No, because of the Origin Access thing. And recently they turned the 10-hour trial into a demo for everyone. So there are quite a few people on the ranking list who never bought the game.

Here are four examples:
Fractured Space - somewhat niche game - small studio, small player base
It's not uncommon to have like 300 or so concurrent players, but even with tiered matchmaking (players are rated for their game experience so noobs don't play with overlords) I tend to get matches, takes about 5 when it's long waiting. It's client-server though, dunno if the P2P needs maybe more playerbase to function. Mixes PvP and Coop.

PUBG - recent rage Battle Royal style PvP - a growing playerbase for a change.

BF1 - I'd say a normal development for a decent AAA playerbase

Evolve Stage 2 - how a playerbase slashes to irrelevant in no time, curve is essentially the same as for the 1st release. It was designed from the ground to support DLC - noone was buying, tho.

So no, 20.000 isn't really low - that should be enough to provide decent matchmaking times. Usually the player count drops quite steeply after release. I guess as long as there is one or two thousand playing at the same time, the match making should be decent. However, each mode / difficulty / mission / tiered match making potentally divides that playerbase.

FWIW the people reading the tealeaves in EA's financial reports seem to think MEA sold 4+ million copies.

Of course 'copies sold' and 'people actively playing right now' are two vastly different numbers.

Speculation, hence the 'tealeaves' comment.

I think all your time interacting with BW employees is wearing off on you.  You managed to report a number without actually giving an answer.  

Also remember that their revenue model depends on a lot more than just copies sold (especially if the sales were at a discount to double down on the F2P model). We've been bearing the brunt of that....
