Is there a way to make the site remember things longer?

My issue is if a thread I've read way back when suddenly has new posts on it, and I click "New" to read the new stuff, the link puts me back at the top of page 1, assuming I haven't read any of the thread before, instead of at the beginning of the new stuff.

I'm not sure what you mean about "new" only taking you to the first page of a thread? I use it all the time and it puts me back at the place I left off reading the thread, unless X amount of time has passed. Then it takes me back to page 1, which is the problem.

Also, this place exists for a reason,
as I'm incompetent and dumb, and I don't have proper answers for everything unless I bullshit it.
