Anyone else notice that the RNG would much rather give you upgrades to items you've already unlocked as opposed to those you haven't? And I'm not talking about the bulwark/syphon/concussive/veteran crap, just the regular stuff. I got 4 UR cards last night and every one was an upgrade to a gun or character I've already unlocked, instead of the 6 guns or 4 characters I haven't.
I know that I'll never play the game enough to get every UR gun and character maxed, but FFS, I would at least like to unlock them and take them for a test drive. I've got multiple UR guns or characters at tier 4, why not put a higher weight on unlocking things I don't have? Is that too much to ask? C'mon Bioware, it's not like we don't already know that the RNG really isn't random.

The RNG works in mysterious ways. Since the patch and the Batarian Vanguard, I got four levels of Angara Exemplar (the only UR kit I didn't had beyond X), but no Vanguard. I even got the last 2 UR weapons reaching X before I even receiving the Shorty.
I can recall I got the Inferno X before getting the Eagle I.
However on other times it seems the RNG decided to even everything out: like getting a Valiant IV, BW IV, Soned IV, etc...

I'm constantly getting sidewinder, every type and kind of sidewinder from reserve packs. I have bulwark, siphon, concussive, all at levels III-V. While my talon sits at III and I maxed only 2 other rare guns. I'm also getting various types of mattock from uncommon drops in reserve packs instead of anticipated character cards. They should simply fix it, not lower the chance, just eliminate it all together or reduce to really negligible chance, something like 1%. And tweak random towards the unlocks, so if you have an UR character or weapon drop, it should be something that you don't have yet.
On the other hand, if I unlock everything, I would probably just completely stop playing. I now put around 4-5 hours per week, mostly leveling up those classes which I didn't play previously and I think I'll give up soon enough because it is quite dull.

Siphon Cyclone was second to last uncommon to get unlocked (and the only uncommon variant weapon I actually cared about). By that point I had at least two variants to IX and over a dozen at or over VII.
After ~3000 MF into common mods I still only have scopeless pistol accuracy mod at I.

Most, if not all, RNG stores are weighted in some way or another, if nothing else than breaking up streaks. Great gif, one of my favorites, but still a swing and a miss.

I would like a hornet I before I get a sweeper IX. However I've resigned myself to the fact that I will be rocking a sweeper siphon soon.

I can't say the rng has been hating me... I've been lucky enough to get my hurricane, roserad, and soned siphon very early. Not sure what I did to deserve that, but I'm not gonna question it.

Personally, I have gotten 223 rare cards for the new weapon variants (or approximately that - I did all the counting in my head and have not double-checked my count, so it's possible I am slightly low or high with that number)
I had all rares maxed before they were released), and I have still not unlocked six of the new weapon variants: Scattershot (Concussive), M-25 (Concussive), Sweeper (Concussive), L89 Halberd (Bulwark), M-23 Katana (Siphon), and Viper (Siphon).
I do not mind this too much, since I hardly ever use the corresponding six base weapon types.

Considering I always get sniper rifles first, and shitty variants too (meaning anything but siphon) the first rare variant weapon I got was a Isharay Bulwark. One thing Bioware managed to do is to analyze your playstyle to give you the stuff you don't want at first. I'm sure on the other side, campers longing for a single shot Concussive sniper rifle get a Revenant with Siphon.

RNG is an absolute cunt. All i wanted from the UR pool are Black Widows, Dhans, Piranhas and Hurricanes. Guess which UR's RNG is giving me. Yup that's right - anything but those 4 i want!

Well, we know they weight the RNG to boost the odds specific categories roll up first - characters, then weapons, then mods within a rarity. I'd have no trouble believing they intentionally weight cards you've unlocked over cards you haven't in order to extend the unlock grind.

Has that actually been confirmed, since it never happened that way for me? I don't know if it was ever confirmed but I can second that it worked that way for me as well. I started at lower packs until I maxed the 'accompanying' rarity tier, then moved to the next type of pack and so on: I always got the characters finished first, then the guns and then any mods (if any existed in the tier). It doesn't seem to work that way for URs, however...

It seems like bad luck but it's just statistics. You're going to get more of some things and fewer of others, and some people are bound to get a more uneven distribution than others. Getting the same amount of everything in the long run is very very unlikely.

The only automatic Siphon weapons I've unlocked so far have been the Ghost and the Raptor. Guess I better learn to like the Raptor. On the positive side my Concussive Carnifex will be maxed soon.
