Dragon Age probably ramping up a bit. The fact that Casey Hudson agreed to take on as BioWare chief is an indicator to me that they have solid plans for future development in place.

Nobody says that when Daimler merged with Chrysler that one was 'shut down'. First of all, you're just wrong - Google (and other tech companies) often buys companies just for a piece of IP and then shuts it down. Second, the employees were reassigned to another EA project. They're not doing Bioware stuff anymore, certainly not the Andromeda sequel they were planned to be doing. There's no going concern to be maintained. What else do you want to call that? |

Being reassigned to another project does not mean you're out of business; otherwise I've been out of business every 6-18 months because most of the types of projects I work only last that long.
In any case this is about Bioware EDMONTON which is not, and never has been, shut down. Yet EVERY piece of news about ANYTHING is interpreted as negative, somehow.
I seriously want to go learn to code, get a job at Bioware, work there for a few years, leave, let the NDA / noncompete expire, and then come here and yell at everyone about how stupid we're being.

Straw man. Not disputing that Edmonton is alive and kicking (duh). You responded to my comment about Montreal. Never seen anyone claim a business hasn't been shut down just because the employees are transferred to a company owned by the same ultimate parent, notwithstanding that the projects of that business have been entirely scrapped. The BioWare Montreal Team being merged with EA Motive doesn't tell us squat because we have no clue about the motivation underlying that decision. That motivation might simply be cutting back costs or concentrating specific talent/resources under certain brands, it may be concentrating talent/resources on the new IP they're developing at EA Motive or it may be because BioWare has specific plans for the future and needs to get in shape for that. Or, of course, any combination of those and the gazillion other possible business reasons that exist...
