Strictly possibility speaking? Yes. Likely? No, not very likely. MEA2 will never be under development. Not as a direct sequel at least. Hmm. My clairvoyancy might be a bit rusty compared to yours.

"If BioWare Austin ever does another game other than SWTOR, I suspect it will be a single player BioWare Star Wars RPG." There will be multiplayer involved. There will always be multiplayer involved. But sure, not 'MMORPG'. Not necessarily. As I stated before, they had a prototype for a single player KOTOR game in development a few years ago. It ultimately never went anywhere, but they aren't a strictly multiplayer studio. I wouldn't just rule them out because the only game they've produced is SWTOR.

I say no. Why even being this sort of thing when no DLC has been produced? BioWare needs to finish what they started before going on to the next phase.

In fairness, this isn't the first time DLC was scrapped and pushed to the next installment. The same situation happened with DA2. An expansion was planned for that game, but due to poor sales it never happened. Instead, that story was integrated into DAI, which is part of the reason Hawke had such a major role in the game. Not that this will necessarily happen with Mass Effect, since the franchise is on the shelf, but it's not out of the realm of reason either.

My understanding and my being corrected by a BioWare employee on the BSN is that they stopped developing the expansion because that is the same time they decided to move to Frostbite for what became Inquisition. If I was to guess it could have been that they only wanted one game engine in development with each team to prevent confusion and possible problems if people were to move back and forth or needed to use that development time for training and learning the new engine.

They did release 2 DLCs for DA2. Only the final one was scrapped. Three, actually, and yes, I'm quite aware. I'm referring to the Exalted March DLC, which was cancelled. DAI was already in development before DA2 was released. Yes, BioWare was switching to Frostbite 3. No, the reason the Exalted March DLC did not happen was because of how DA2 performed. Had it performed well, you better believe BioWare would have made the DLC for more money. The truth of the matter is DA2 underperformed, so they pushed that entire arc into DAI instead. It's also worth pointing out that BioWare was just starting to tinker with Frostbite 3 at that time. DAI was in pre-production, and they were largely building tools to make the new engine work with DAI. You have to remember that DAI did not release until late 2014, when DA2 released in 2011.

That can easily be interpreted as PR. We know for a fact that DA2 was a financial disappointment based on EA reports. It simply made more financial sense to push that expansion into a new game, rather than make a DLC for a game that under-performed. Not to burst your bubble, but BioWare has lied in the past. Feel free to examine most of SWTOR's pre-launch marketing. You might be surprised how often BioWare lied about the game. In these kinds of situations, you need to follow the money, not the politically correct statement the head of the organization is giving.

Thanks for proving why BioWare won't say anything one way or the other about possible DLC for Andromeda, for no matter what they say people are going to try and find some logic to bypass what they are saying to fulfill the narrative they want to see.

Believe what you want. The main reason for why BioWare is silent was explained a long time ago: MEA MP. If you want to believe story DLC for a game with no studio is still possible, more power to you. This isn't about being right or wrong. It's about recognizing MEA has been sweeped under the rug. We've known about this for months and no amount of denial is going to change the reality of the situation.

Whether you like ME:A, love it or hate it with every fiber of your being, it's way too early to be looking for the sequel. Besides, EA can place development of this game under any of its satellite studios it wants, since Bioware is basically jsut a stamp.

I loved the game but I'd prefer if they don't rush the thing this time around. Give it time, give it serious thought and most importantly put your most experienced team to work on it (this means Edmonton). It might take many years considering Edmonton busy schedule but better to put some consideration and patience so that BW can relaunch and revitalize the franchise once again.

Bioware Montreal - No. EA Motive - Almost certainly no. Austin - Probably not. Edmonton (to release after Anthem and DA4) - Maybe. New Studio - Maybe. I don't expect any ME game until at least 2020-2021, and I think 2022-2023 is possible. There is no studio to make a ME game before 2020 (as in 2019, the earliest I thought we'd ever see a game). And the one that does it, is more likely Edmonton, after Anthem is covered (and potentially a new studio is made just for it). As they finish Anthem and get into later development of Dragon Age, they can pick up development of a Mass Effect. My guess. I just hope Edmonton and/or Austin is doing MEA DLC (2-3 of them). And if it doesn't happen then, it might not happen at all. You start getting into Half Life 3 territory, where most of the fans and staff who care about it have moved on. It's depressing.
