2. Can we please have one decent semi auto battle rifle like the Saber was in ME3? And please don't add anything new, just boost the damage of an existing gun like the Sandstorm or Halberd. I find it really upsetting how long they're taking to address the semi auto battle rifle situation. They've been saying they were aware of the issue for months now. I bypassed "official unofficial" channels during last week's stream to bring it up and managed to get an answer... from one JRandall It's not hard. Turn the Halberd into the Mattock S and the Sandstorm into the Saber 2.0 Halberd was 189 Damage 300 ROF. Is now 140 Damage 405 ROF. This gives the same DPS but in a much more responsive feeling gun. Sandstorm was 199 Damage 210 ROF. Is now 500 Damage 100 ROF. This is a DPS buff but the Sandstorm badly needs one anyway and it gets the gun in line with other Gold tier ARs.

I'm no gunsmith but when every AR has a worse DPS and TTK than the Pistols/SMGs, I know that's a problem. ARs should be *the* staple weapons for most characters. Everything else should be a niche weapon you use for a specific reason. SRs for sniping, shotguns for up close burst damage, Pistols for... well I was gonna say weight but that's irrelevant now which is part of the design problem.

Aww, another week shall pass before the world knows how I suffer through the 35K combat/tech challenges. Woe is me Like you, I prefer to have the daily challenges done in two matches. Unfortunately, I'm not elite enough to get the Tech/Biotic/Combat challenges done in fewer than three matches at this point. I could solo for it, but I've never found soloing fun. Duos are much better! Then again, these challenges are far down the list of irritants in MEAMP. I wouldn't even call to change them. For example, the sound bug is far, far more troubling.

They can solve the pistol weight issue by either A) giving all pistols a native power recharge bonus or creating a power recharge bonus mod that is only available for pistols. They should also nerf the Hurricane, Hornet and Roserad by either A) reducing damage or increasing muzzle climb to make them harder to control. The pistols' niche REALLY needs to be "less damage but quicker powers". That's the only way things make sense.

For me it is higher, because I can still chose to finish a match w/o a sound or drop it. But the challenge parameters are really impacting the time and push me to play past the point when I want to stop. Hence, i really support the second look at those 35Ks. Andromeda is already a wee bit limited for variety of maps and chars, adding a burn-out from being stuck on the same map/char on top of it bothers me. Yeah, I know, it's maybe only 2x the other challenges, and OCD is all mine, the MF is not real, etc, but I'd rather the challenges were equalized if possible.

JRandall0308 Offtopic, but is the thread title a Dragonriders of Pern reference? You betcha! Or technically the Masterharper of Pern. If this goes on long enough, I hope you get to retire to a tropical bay and some nice young woman can take over these threads.

I know it's a bit late but Miss Copymachine actually made some good points concerning MEA's gameplay below in yet another one of those comparison-topics: Why is it that at times, especially in a faster-paced game than it's predecessor, the controls are unresponsive? Like hitting a power/dodging/jumping/hitting first aid doesn't always result in the required action, which is NOT always because of stagger? On a side note: Why Melee DOES work sometimes, but delayed (because of stagger for example), making you character performing an unskippable melee animation after regaining 'control'. The actions to do things are much more responsive {in ME3} and quick whereas in MEA it's the opposite. The actions to do things like swap weapons/use a power doesn't always respond at times and everything is a little bit glitchy, reload canceling is gone, you can't run with a charge weapon, no weapon swap canceling either. It's like MEA was trying to be a faster paced game with the shorter waves and fancy jet packs, but failed to deliver on the player response to in-game actions. Also speaking of charged weapons: Being able to run with them would be nice, let alone jump/dodge, getting stunlocked, etc...

The charge-up weapon question is on the list somewhere. The questions about responsiveness has kinda-sorta been asked in the past. For example... 1 June 2017 Some actions have unintuitive priorities. Landing interrupts a reload. Rockets, cover vaulting, and revive interactions cannot interrupt a reload. Almost anything interrupts and puts away an equipped rocket. Is this something you will look at, to improve game flow? DiscoBabaloo will check, but i think in this case some things are not easy to tweak (not without touching a lot of other systems) :/ 22 June 2017 Weapon reload speeds in MEA feel sluggish (esp. compared to ME3 reload speeds which were faster across the board). Could you please explain the design intent for MEA reload speeds? Billy mostly just timed against "use vs recharge". We've seen feedback about the various timings, and the animations not having cancels like ME3. I can't go into details today, but we're aware. 29 June 2017 WolfBuster: DiscoBabaloo @bioware any plans on adjusting the Venom to allow us to be able to hold charge while jumping , Dashing , or using a skill that involves movement DiscoBabaloo @wolfbuster on the list to review 3 August 2017 biggy_dx: Backlash has an issue where it drops immediately upon casting it. Does the team know about this? DiscoBabaloo @biggy_dx will check

On a related note, can anyone with programming expertise (specifically game programming) comment on this:
Why do some games feel so much more responsive to controller input? Is there some crazy optimization around event handling for button presses -- that only people like John Carmack know how to do? (just an example of a stereotypical 'good progammer')
Are there technical and electromechanical limitations on how fast the controller can transmit data to the console? Is it any different when using keyboard + mouse vs. using a controller?

Sure. Insert whomever you want who you think is a 'good programmer'. (part of) My question was: can anyone write good controller input / good handling code, or do you need to be 'good' to do it?

ARs have been weak since launch with little reason to use over Pistols/SMGs. We lack a good semi-auto AR like ME3 Sabre. Can you *please* boost Halberd, Sandstorm, or *something* up to that level? DiscoBabaloo: JRandall0308 we're looking into the balance info

Matobar: DiscoBabaloo 4. Are there any plans to look into weapon reloading and/or weapon swaping? Both feel very cumbersome right now, and especially reloading gets a lot of complaints about being the worst part of using some weapons (ARs suffer a lot from this.) DiscoBabaloo: @matobar we can look at this again, it can have some significant balance impact on dps though so its not an easy change (or rather, easy to change but would take longer to balance etc)

biggy_dx: DiscoBabaloo On Xbox, there is a sudden lag spike after ~30 seconds of being dropped into the map. It only lasts for 2-3 seconds, but it happens in EVERY match; since the games launch. Is there a reason for why this happens, and if there isn’t, can it be fixed? DiscoBabaloo: @biggy_dx every 30s or just one time at ~30s? its possible there's a spawning hit or something - all difficulties or only on harder? biggy_dx: DiscoBabaloo No. Once the 30 seconds have gone by and the game lags, it does't happen again biggy_dx: DiscoBabaloo It's on every difficulty jrandall0308: DiscoBabaloo re: the 30s happens on new match, or when you join a match late regardless of wave... maybe tied to player somehow? Moderator Moderator DiscoBabaloo: @biggy_dx JRandall0308 ok will need to take a closer look, maybe something synching w host Bastiaan: "I love the Hurricane."
