...and, after finding to my shock that it actually runs on my ALIENSware 17, I immediately went into graphics settings, flipped everything to ULTRA mode, and restarted the game. It's been booting for 20 minutes and if I'm lucky it may eat up the whole trial time before I get back to the tutorial and find my high-res anti-friggin'aliased Ryder won't move. Maybe I should just go right for the multiplayer? UPDATE: Actually, the game ran smoothly in maxed out mode, although the ridiculously long booting time has to go. I guess it's low quality mode for me. And Film Grain? Srsly? After three games they're still pushing that? It shall remain off. So far, I've played a little of Eden Prime the tutorial mission, and the game seems quite good so far. I've sort of figured out the jet pack and combat seems rather smooth. I have noticed the dialogue is a little crappy though. Might have to take the advice of Terminator Force and buy a used copy when the trial runs out. O hai, I'm SaikyoMcRyu. I post here. But I haven't in a while because reasons. Hope you all have been well.

Shader pre-loading is inconsistent. afaik from other games, it should only happen on first boot and be good until a patch, but it's been off and on for this game

When this was brought to my attention, I always quit the game by going back to the main menu and quit to desktop, even though it takes ages. Haven't had shaders rebuilding since (so far)...

Glad to have you back, Saikyo! Long time no see! You're playing on PC, too, right? Getting a used copy might be difficult then because of the Origin account-bound bs - but I'd advise you to just wait a bit and check the price for the standard digital version regularly on Origin. Almost once a month or so it goes on sale for 50% off, that's actually a fair price for ME:A right now.

This thread is making me flash back to trying to make Diablo 2 and Neverwinter Nights work on my old piece of shit computer I had when I was a kid. So glad I'm a console person now.

idk what that shader buildin crap is, but I know it doesn't matter much because as long as I restart the game it can play normal. And so you know, if its building those shaders or w/e, its going to do that every start of every match and anytime the game loads. I just open up task manager and hard stop the game and restart. No one has time for all that shyt.

What annoys me to most, is that you can't quit MP directly. You have to quit back to the damn loading screen, press space, then go to the main menu and EXIT.
The most convoluted process of quitting a game...ever.

The most convoluted process of quitting a game...ever. And to think you can quit straight to the desktop from Single Player. I think this is just an oversight. I've already posted this in the next twitchy questions-topic earlier this day, by the way.

SP is pretty good so far. I feel like a complete dummy trying to pin down combat tactics with that jetpack replacing the awesome button and dashes, but at least headshots and BEs are still pretty effective. In fact, once I had Pull+Throw, things got a lot easier. I do have a little of the exploration and classic sci-fi vibe from ME1, though I haven't got to the Virtue Signaling portions of the game yet. But initial impressions are positive. Of course the game has had months for the biovar minions to patch it. Probably not going to touch MP right now until (a) I learn what the heck I am doing in combat and ( I advance far enough to avoid late arrival spoilers from MP. Also, I tried to make sisRyder look like my avatar (Reina Triendl) but she ended up looking like Gemma Arterton instead. Did I break the "you can't create hawt characters" code or did biovar patch that?

To be honest, the default female face #8 which they added later is pretty decent actually. And I think they improved the other ones a little bit (but that could have been my imagination)
