Why the hell is that console key still active? Try playing a gold vanguard without sometimes pressing the tilda along with the charge key. Then try making any other key work. you're dead before you know why the fuck nothing works.

Yeah, that console key seriously needs to be remapable in-game. Autohotkey will do the job for you.

I popped my tilde key off the keyboard about the second day after I installed the game. I figure I can always put it back on if I need to, but, still, that definitely needs an option to turn off in key bindings.

Needless to say, this requires a mouse with a scroll wheel and at least one thumb button. Back in the good ol' OT days, I used keyboard buttons only for powers with a hold-function. But since there are so many multi-thumb mice out there (mine has six), I just tie those to a thumb button. I still keep powers like Charge & Throw on the forward and Pull on the backward wheel function because I feel it makes for more intuitive play...

Never had a problem with this. Then again, I have nothing mapped near that button... Remap it with external tools as suggested or remap actions that are currently mapped near to it (like 1 and Tab). I agree though, players should be able to disable that key.

I for one cannot pop this button out or remap it - it has some use outside the game (for instance, the Russian letter «Ё» (sounds pretty much like "Yo") is mapped to it), so really, there must be an option in the game to disable this key at least during the match.

The issue, is that different powers are assigned to different keys based upon the character. So some powers get switched around, and it leads to confusion when I'm initially playing a character. Backlash, for example, is very useful to be bound to middle mouse. Charge works very well, too. I use G and Mouse 5 for POWER3 (Flak). It gets confusing when using an Infilitrator, however, as I want to use the same command to toss the nade, but it's a POWER1 key, instead.

I have to train myself not to spam the wrong button. I usually end up forgetting to use a power then. I'm glad I'm not the only one. You really should just be able to assign specific powers, to any 1-3 slots.

Ever since Battlefield 3 days, I never understood what's the point of allowing players to open up the console on a multiplayer game/mode, but hey, what do I know.

Ever since Battlefield 3 days, I never understood what's the point of allowing players to open up the console on a multiplayer game/mode, but hey, what do I know. Most games have this option in the controls, though, so you could at least rebind it to something else. This is not the case for ME:A Also, you aren't spamming 1-2-3 in games like BE3, or in most game for that matter. So it isn't as much of an issue.

You can use SharpKeys program to disable or remap tilde (~) No. Bad idea. Extremely bad substitute for simply allowing players to remap keys and powers. Say you've remapped the "~" (mine is actually "|", but whatever) key to "1". Should work, right? Except, MEA can still recognise the remapped key, and opens the console. However, once in the console, the ~ key is correctly interpreted as "1". Leaving you no way to exit the console. Apart from "Alt+F4". Just like this: You might remap yet another key as "~" to exit the console, but things are getting awkward now. Especially since a lot of us need those keys for various purposes. And logging in/out to reset the registry edit just to play ME:A (or to do something else) is annoying. Perfect solution: Let players decide.

I do the same but then you get kits like Vorcha flamer, Salarian Engineer and those that divert from the usual setup and mix it all up. Mousewheel casting is great, but it doesn't go well with hold (and sometimes toggle) powers.

For the hold function, I always tie powers like pull to a thumb button on my mouse as well; I'll often use the wheel when I don't hold, though. There are other 'side effects', depending on which button you use, btw. I've found that I can sometime get two consecutive button-tapped Overloads with the second even detonating the first, which I haven't been able to pull off with the wheel. Vice versa, I sometimes reactivate Fortify on my Kroguard with the mouse wheel right after detonating it, yet I can't seem to get this done by tapping a button. It may well be me, of course...

Thumb button has firmly lodged itself for melee. I've tried to harmonise the bindings between Warframe and Mass Effect and it's been a great way to make melee work. Who needs guns when you have unlimited power and a strong arm.
