I ran out of elemental ammo. Bought five basic packs, five jumbos and three experts. Got ONE ammo card. Is there a better way to buy ammo cards?

Well, you probably need a boatload of S-version & variant (siphon, etc.) weapons, no room for measly elemental. You should be happy with those 'higher level' drops! Play a few hundred more hours of platinum and level 1 elementals should drop more regularly!? BawHaHa!

I usually spend about 100K on jumbo packs per 1M. It seems pointless but I also hate not having ammo.

No.
I don't think there is any data to indicate one pack will give a higher % of ammo compared to the other boosters. AFAIK, it is all one pool, subject to RNG. So about 1/6 boosters should be ammo.
If so, and if you don't mind low rank ammo, the best bet would be Supply Packs. Here's my calcs, based on rather limited pack openings:
Pack Boosters (NOT just ammo) per 100K Supply 50 (1 in each 2K pack) Basic ~25 (based on opening ~280 packs) Advanced ~9 (based on opening ~150 packs) Expert ~4 (small sample, but enough to see trend)
More expensive packs (unsurprisingly) trend to higher rank drops. But trend is clear, if you don't mind L1's, buy lowest level packs (Supply).

Fret not. In order to solve this crisis, biower will introduce elemental ammo variants for every weapon in the next patch.

Honestly, and I mean this from the bottom of my rectum, I would have rather taken fire cryo and tech weapons, and had additional ammo added to the store that does what the weapon variants do.

It's funny, Bioware added those ridiculous weapon variants in order to "make us stronger so we could play harder modes" but in doing so they made level 3 ammo and other boosters much harder to get. Given the choice between a siphon weapon or a level 3 incendiary ammo and rail amp, I'd take the boosters any day. The variant thing was such an incredible fuck up that affected the game negatively in so many ways... and the reskins are ugly.

They should add an ammo pack to the store. As a greenhorn I used low level elemental ammo in bronze to get a sense for how priming worked and if it was much different from ME3MP. I save that stuff for matches I expect to be challenging: -- Any match Silver and above with sub 500 Apex players--things can from bad to worse in the later rounds when half the team needs a pick up. -- Elemental ammo is pretty much required to make Gold matches tolerable for me--not falling for that stealth/flac crutch -- Training sessions with noobs on Bronze--it really cool to follow the pack and prime groups of enemies for them. A series of combos is like crack to a hobo The elemental ammo is the most useful consumable in the game. I might equip other boosters but things like weapon, power and shield amps but these are difficult to judge in terms of effectiveness so I rarely utilize them. This seems like a very fair ask in my opinion. If we are going to ask for things....I could use a big bag of res-packs. I have 600 cobras and about 20 res-packs. (I feel that if I got myself in an awkward situation and die it is not up to the team to drop what they were doing and save my dumb ass--don't assume I didn't try to cobra my way out of some of those tight spots but we all know what the situation with cobras is right now)

Gotta love those Arsenal and Reserves packs containing Ammo 60%+ of the time. This data reflects my experience also. I find I have to save up my best elemental ammo for specific characters. When I don't have enough ammo for them, I will play other characters so I can save up more elemental ammo. It would be great to be able to just buy the ammo I need... but I refuse to whine about it. (Sigh)

Pretty much fucked on that end. Like this game. Hard to give a shit when there's so much garbage blocking your way to useful equipment, weapons and characters. ME3 didn't have NEARLY this bad of a problem. Explosive ammo was pretty much the ONLY completely useless/obsolete thing as even Cryo Ammo and Targeting VI had their own niche uses. Hard to recover from this fuckbomb of a patch and it's almost killed my enthusiasm. I was a positive guy from day 1 and giving them a pass and time to improve things. Near perfect after 1.8 then it was FUBAR'd thanks to Shit Variants and reskinned guns. Fuck Bioware Montreal and fuck whoever made the decision to dump all this horseshit out all at once yet spoonfeeding interesting characters and powers every 4-5 weeks. If it weren't for AHF I'd have lost all interest in MP.

ME3 had plenty of problems and if the old boards were up we could find sixty different threads complaining about the loot in that game. Not nearly as bad. Sure unlocking URs was harder but there were less items clogging the RNG. For example there was no Ammo Capacity or UR ammo nor was there 30+ variants of each gun or reskinned Common weapons. You also didn't have gimped points and playing higher levels of difficulty gave you higher rewards. Lastly, there weren't 20 versions of each character to unlock as you only needed 2-3 cards at best to unlock all color customizations and patterns with the added benefit of each class of characters being tied to the same XP points.

AHF = Alliance Hazard Force, the PS3/PS4 MEMP group. You ought to know that by now, we've had threads up and around since 2012. I'm a PC-elitist who never cared much for PS3/4/Xbox gaming. So my sincere apologies that the name of your group didn't stick, assuming I even noticed back in the day.

I honestly am finding the slow trickle of things like elemental ammunition boosters, strength boosters etc, so be highly restrictive for me at the moment. I really think its time they made an ammo pack.. OR.. adjust the packs which no longer produce character cards or weapon cards and remove the RPG/Revive/Ammo/FirstAid/respec from them in their random choices and instead put items in for the elemental ammo, and other booster types.
I'd then be more likely to buy them. I would also be able to play the characters i want to play that tbh are not that wonderful without the priming aspect of elemental ammo.
To get our wish though, we would have to be dealing with a developer that listens to us, and not see our posts like this as whining, but more as a very humble request for something that we feel would make the game actually a lot better.
