I can't vote in the survey. It won't let me add dots even when my script and ad blockers are disabled. Also, I haven't played in over a week. Every time I think about playing I decide some other game would be more fun. All I want to know from Bioware is about the state of support for this game. Is it going to stay like it is/has been until support ends or are they going to actually do something to promote player retention? It honestly would take a good sized DLC with unique characters, powers, and guns to pull me back.

Edited to add:SP is dead; long live MP? I will ask one general 'please reassure us MP will continue to get supported', but don't expect a definitive response. (They've never promised anything specific about ongoing support.) I will not ask about SP because I don't care. Thank you. I know it's on the level of " I need a hug", but still...

Got a couple of questions to add in if at all possible: 1: with regards to the combat powers challenge, would it be possible to factor damage done using turbocharge? 2: flogging a dead horse with this one, but; is it possible to set a minimum distance for enemies to spawn in relation to players? I don't know what luck you'll have with this one. Flanking enemies have been designed into the game play. If you watched the last stream you'll see the dev on the left (Benoit I believe) take credit for the spawning of the the Atlas directly behind Bastiaan (the dev playing) after he died camping on the platform (Plat match). A few minutes later when Bastiaan got in trouble and was running on a sliver of health when encountered an Angara which stripped the shields that had just started to recharge. Benoit also took credit for placement of that enemy as well. Earlier in the video it appears through comments he made Benoit is likely responsible for the Dogs in A$$ phenomenon. The impression I got from his comments was he added these changes because he hates that kind of thing when he plays games as this always trips him up. I don't think he gets the irony of this thinking....

The flanking issue is not just spawns, but enemies that teleport from a visible location to a location that is flanking you. That is outright silly and needs to be addressed. I had an Observer floating towards me, and as I was moving back and forth dodging blind fire from the side under cover whilst keeping an eye on the Observer distance to me to let rip with my Shorty, it suddenly dissapeared, then began firing at me from behind. (Magma camping spot by the corner, so no way for spawns to be behind me, as I was right by it and nothing else around as team was taking care of them) So yeah, not the least bit broken(!). With regards to spawns, I experienced that a couple of times, but the worst offender was when I shifted around in a camping spot, moved my camera to the left (was in Zero) to make sure nothing was sneaking up, turned around quickly and saw an Assembler spawn to the right of me. Time it took to move that camera around to look and turn back? < 0.5s. Might as well remove all cover from the game and have an open map only.

MEA is a strangely designed game, possibly because of competing design philosophies at work. We saw a literal, physical representation of this over the past two streams.
Two weeks ago, Benoit played, and he was rushing around out of cover and fighting all the time. Last week, Bastiaan played, and he stayed in cover except when forced out of it, methodically picking off enemies.
Is the game a rush-y scrapper like Doom (the newest one), where you must keep moving or you die? Or is the game a cover-based shooter like its predecessors, where you must make smart use of cover or you die?
Neither is better or worse, good or bad, skillful or non-skillful. But, they are at two ends of the spectrum of how to design a game, how to play a game.
I could wax poetic about the analogies to be made between this game's design and the throes that Dungeons & Dragons has gone through over the years... but that's pretty off-topic....

I started to pay closer attention to spawns and enemy movement after watching the stream. I too have seen what you are describing. In my opinion these kinds of things are the result of cheap or even lazy game design. But to be fair we really don't have a sense for just what the devs can actually do in terms of game play. New characters/weapons are numbers in a table. Additional abilities may require an animation or two but game play maybe a series of knobs and levers with limited choices.

.....Is the game a rush-y scrapper like Doom (the newest one), where you must keep moving or you die? Or is the game a cover-based shooter like its predecessors, where you must make smart use of cover or you die?..... MEAMP appears to be both and neither from a player's perspective. I think that allows for a greater chance a given player will find their own way to play. My problem is the game is designed to have seemingly conflicting elements all operating at the same time. Read the situation wrong....dead. Read it right....yay....cut to animation of dog biting on hand! It appears at least one of the devs pushed for this kind of thing. I've spent around 150 hrs on this game. I don't see another 150 in the future. I don't need a full manifest I'd rather have fun.

Then something needs to be attempted by the remaining team to try and get something done about it. If something can spawn in front of you simply because you turned your head/view/camera so it wasn't looking in their spawn location (even for a fraction of a second) so they can spawn. That's a deliberate mechanic/code checking for line of sight on their spawn point to spawn ane enemy or not there, and that needs to be altered.
There's "Tough" difficulty gameplay, and then there's "Cheap" difficulty gameplay. "Tough" was something like Master Ninja on Ninja Gaiden (Original on XBox). "Cheap" is Gill of SFIII where it reads your inputs. This issue in increasing difficulty is on the "Cheap" difficulty side of things. And that doesn't help (the remaining MP) game last, especially since I didn't really notice or experience this before the last two patches.

That's what is so frustrating, to me: the game is awesomely fun X% of the time, and *super annoying* another (1-X)% of the time. Problem is I can never decide on the value of X and whether it is large enough to keep my playing.
The other problem is what I find *super annoying* is what someone else finds fun. Like, I think Benoit genuinely enjoys being bitten in the ass by dogs or having a Hydra spawn behind him and missile him down. Who am I to say that's not fun for him or people with similar tastes? But for me, it's annoying.

Given yesterday's announcement I think the ONLY questions that matter are about ongoing support. I don't care that they've said they won't answer them either. We need to pelt them with them. The cat is out of the bag so now is the time for complete transparency on their part. 1) How much longer is the team planning to support multiplayer? 2) The announcement said "no more patches" but then said "no SP patches". Are more MP patches coming or not? 3) The devs had said balance changes are coming but they've almost always been delivered via patch. Are subsequent balance changes going to be done exclusively via hotfix from now on? What's the timeline for these changes? 4) Are the four datamined characters and two guns the last of the content we'll be getting? 5) Yesterday's announcement said the story will continue via APEX missions but this week's story is essentially just "the car won't start and the remnant are acting squirrelly". Since this is now our only source of story progression can we expect it to be a little more in depth from now on? 6) Can we/will we still get Tiran Kandros videos for upcoming kits? I love those vids but we didn't get one for the batarian vanguard. and my salty question. 7) Why should we invest in and trust that Bioware will support their future titles if they're willing to let their premier title die like this? I want to reiterate the point of this post. The very first question needs to be "Will there be any more patches for multiplayer?" If the answer is 'no,' none of the other questions matter in the slightest unless they're within the narrow set of parameters they can change server-side without a patch. I never thought playing by their rules and not asking the most pressing questions ever made any sense, but now that they seem to be suggesting there won't be any more patches PERIOD (not just SP - Fernando's twitter responses seem to suggest that), asking about random changes they can't do just to get a "we'll look into it" response looks even sillier.

They're not going to definitively answer whether there will be more patches or not. For me to ask that is just to throw away a little bit of my 'cred' and waste a question.
Also: of course we play by their rules. It's their Twitch. They can simply ignore the questions they don't want to answer.
I have managed to wheedle information out of them by playing by their rules, and I intend to continue to do so. I would rather have *some* information than *none*.

I disagree - they provided the most information in the period between 1.05 and vanilla mostly because the consumer base was flipping shit. After that, we mostly got "we'll look into it" to everything.
But regardless, this is the first time where the questions will literally be mooted if they're not rolling out further patches. It's 100% pointless to ask for changes if they're discontinuing the vehicle necessary to transmit those changes.
The idea that they'll outright refuse to answer whether the ambiguous no-more-patches announcement applies to MP is not credible in light of fernando's twitter responses. He's making posts that suggest there will be no more MP patches but it's not perfectly clear. Go read it.
Maybe I'll make a Reddit account, matobar seems more reasonable.

I don't think he gets the irony of this thinking.... Irony indeed. Thing is, although I don't think we'll get a fix for enemy spawns before the sun grows cold, the reason I brought it up was because, not only was I pissed off after just being buggered by a Krogan ninja, but I also thought back to DAIMP, as they had spawn point issues there, well with the spawnpoint camping anyway & if memory serves, BW did a server side fix to reduce the radius off the spawn points & even add a few more, now this did result in enemies popping in directly in front of the player, but I'd rather have something pop in in front of me so I can deal with it, than behind me & use my arse for stress relief. So if they can do this with DA:I then why not with ME:A? After all, it is the same engine, but alas, like I say, I doubt this issue will ever be resolved, despite it being one of, if not the biggest issue for the players.

I'm sure this has been asked and answered many times before, but assault rifles in general are terrible. I tried taking the X5 Ghost into a platinum match with a level IV booster and a bunch of weapon damage specs on my character. It was still completely unusable. When will they re-visit AR's and finally make the balance changes we need? The Rozerad and Hurricane are great, sure, but I want to be able to use more than a small handful of guns, otherwise the longevity of this game for me is going to be reduced even further.

Exactly this, those survey questions will be moot if they aren't going to 'fix' issues. Maybe instead of using the words "patch" or "update" ask about whether they will still try and "fix bugs"? I'm worried, with the release of new characters & guns -- if we discover something egregious (Bat Vanguard's charge doesn't combo with his own annihilation field?) should we report? Will bugs still be looked at (offhost headshots problem)? Reminds me of their response to the PS3 crashing problem with Collectors -- said they couldn't replicate (what? every player I knew could) and the bug remains to this day. I just figure they don't know how to fix it!

OK, guys, don't be upset with me. I'm just as disappointed with the vague announcement about "no more patches (but maybe we only mean for SP (but we're not going to tell you because we still don't grok PR))" as you are. I will try to get Bastiaan or Fernando to say something about future support, but don't be surprised if they won't commit to anything.
Other stuff...
ARs: Has been asked numerous times. One of the things they *should* be able to adjust with server-side balance updates that don't require a patch.
Off-host headshots: Has been asked numerous times. Doubt it will ever get fixed as they are hiding behind the same "we can't replicate this in the lab" which is f--king bullshit and they know it. (Either (1) get a better lab or (2) hook up your personal console. #2 is super easy.)
Spawns: I think they like the game design the way it is so I doubt they will change this. But, it could *possibly* be adjusted server-side (speculating; I have no idea how that part of the game works), so worth asking.

Lol no, not redirecting disappointment. Expected this announcement for a while.
It's just really silly to waste stream time on questions that are likely moot.
