Now that they're about to call it day for the game they want the moneyz? should've done that earlier I guess, and maybe justify that money for actually making an effort to improve the game. But hey, what do I know.

It's impressive how little you gain for the money you can pour into MP... Those prices are so fucking insane it's not even funny - another last ditch moneygrab - I tip my hat off to their fucking greed; may they forever never have to make business decisions again.
I'm so glad the UR bloat made me move past this crap and instead bought the BG:EE, BG:SoD and BGII:EE series - have entertained greatly ever since I stopped - and without the fucking frustration and facepalming over idiotic dev decisions.
It's just so very sad, that it had the potential to be very good, but they dropped it so hard, the shockwaves are still detectable on the seismographs.

The prices here are pretty crazy, if you think about it. I paid real money for digital Magic cards once upon a time, but there were some important differences:
1. There was a secondary market, so you could sell cards (and I eventually sold my collection using PayPal for real dollars) and buy individual cards, etc.
2. You could exchange sets of virtual cards for real cardboard. This underpinned real value.
Here, they are charging a lot of money for virtual goods, which is fine, okay, but requires supporting market mechanisms to really work if you want to charge as much as they are (need not be the specific two above - you know what I mean, etc.).

All products, even virtual products, have an idealized price point set by supply and demand. If this price point is too high, there will low demand, and EA will lower the price (or just give up). If this price point is roughly correct, there will be solid demand meaning "enough" people buying these packs for EA to consider it worthwhile, and perhaps add more varieties to the store.
The fact that the virtual goods have no secondary market and are not underpinned by real goods is irrelevant. The virtual goods have value to people in the form of entertainment and saved time and aggravation of the RNG.

Sure. I spent plenty on Andromeda points so I could Gold viable weapons early instead of grinding like mad. But high prices would be much better supported with a different market/economic model.

EA has data we don't, but my supposition is they would make more money with a different pricing model. Demand and price are not independent of each other and when there is zero marginal cost for production, you can sometimes make a lot more total money with lower prices per item.

Alternatively you can sometimes find the flat part of the demand curve and make more money by charging more, where people are effectively price blind.
$9.99 is what a lot of things cost for a reason. It's perceived as "less than $10" or "less than double digit dollars".

Of course. This is why we need to see the data to really understand what to do. EA is not dumb. But, my strong suspicion is that they have mispriced everything. I'm not just complaining about the 9.99 packs. Those prices are somewhat attractive relative to the prices of everything else. But I think the overall price level is too high and they risk dramatically shrinking the player base as a consequence.

- slow claps - bra-f***ing-vo Bioware, crush our dreams of any single player DLC and add a 10 dollar micro transactions for what is essentially 30 minutes of time saving in game.
Even if you are BRAND F***ING NEW to Andromeda's multiplayer, you will get carried for a handful Gold games and will get more stuff than what you get in all those 10 dollar packs put together in like an hours time.(minus the UR exp boosters but oh hey that only saves you having to do like 5-6 more games to hit 20)

You are VASTLY underestimating how long it would take to guarantee you get these specific mixes of characters, weapons, equipment, etc. Especially now that the loot pool is so bloated.

The main problem with this pack is that its geared towards literally a person who JUST started MEAMP. Exactly. And I wonder: who in their right mind has just started playing this game? It is dying, the population (which is crucial for a P2P game) is shrinking, the loot pool is insanely large, there is no fixing for the existing bugs in sight, the devs have mostly pulled the plug and there are more interesting games out there. Right now, in this day and age, 10 bucks is what I would consider paying for Mass Effect Andromeda on a sale to play just the campaign and then shelve it. This Multiplayer Uncommon Character Pack is something which, at most, should be given for free right now.

Back during the DAIMP key glitch era, I wondered if the reason biower didn't think it was an issue was because their staff often got to the office or back home only to find their keys had failed to exist.
Now I suppose we'll discover that at any EA affiliate, staff have to pay €10 to get a chair, otherwise they get an RNG roll for seating which includes a lumpy rock, a spike and a marble fist with middle finger raised.
Oh, but it's ok, now there are 10 x 3 variants of these as well, because people asked for more seating options. Enjoy sitting on the purple spike until your head explodes*.
*The damage is bugged.

This thread has been the most in-depth preview of Anthem to date. Lol, and some people is still looking forward for that game. This is the part that confuses the living shyt out of me. I bought MEA because I had ME1-3. I had an idea what the game would "potentialy" be like. I haven't seen anything about anthem besides a guy running through a alien jungle with a jetpack and shooting randomly. WHAT THE HELL IS IN THIS GAME THAT ISN"T IN SOMETHING ELSE?? Seriously man, what the hell is even worth $60s for this game at this point that people want it without even knowing how things work. I want to see random audience members playing these new releases. I honestly need to quit my job and go start my own video game company and sell out to EA, seriously man. People will buy anything as long as it "looks cool" now.
