As the title ask, when will it happen?
DAO had 2 prequel novels and DAI had 2.

Asunder was pretty good. Even if it was technically and alternate timeline since Wynne and Shale were in it. I was actually hoping we'd see more of Rys and Evangeline in DAI, but they just got the War Table treatment.
I found Evangeline to be one of the most likable characters BioWar has made in a long time. Too bad she was wasted on a novel.

Also, who is writing them? I really like the storytelling of Last Flight and wouldn't mind reading from Liane Merciel again, too bad Gaider is gone though The Stolen Throne will always have a special place in my heart.

A new dragon age novel would certainly be welcome, but I'm guessing won't be announced DA4 has, which isn't gonna be any time soon

I second wanting Liane Merciel to come back. While Last Flight was far from perfect, it was in many ways the most poignant of the Dragon Age novels which isn't a qualifier I expected to apply to... any video game tie-in novel, really.

In a fairly recent pod cast Mike mentioned we had more Dragon Age things coming our way after Knight Errant, I don't know if he was talking novel or more comics or something else, but I got the impression he meant within the next six months.
I am super eager for another novel. The comics have been enjoyable, most especially Knight Errant, but I'm really hoping for a novel next year sometime, probably later in the year. This isn't based on anything other than me simply wanting one. At this point we're not even sure when the game is coming out so it's hard to predict when a novel might, but, as others have pointed out, they are usually released a month or so before the game. I think it was six months prior when Masked Empire came out, but I could be mistaken.

We don't even know if they are making a DA4 yet or what kind of game it will be if it is made.

We don't even know if they are making a DA4 yet or what kind of game it will be if it is made. We don't KNOW because they haven't officially said, "We are in the process of making DA4." But we have brains and can understand what their intentionally unsubtle hints on twitter and hiring advertisements are for.

I don't know if I'd call any book coming out prior to DA4 release a pre quel. More like a "span-quel" but words aside. Why does Knight Errant not count? ( Ihaven't read it, not going to until it's all out.)

@witchy I liked all of the outside game content except for Magekiller. Sadly, there is a lot of nuance not in DAI that was covered by Asunder and MAsked Empire, the two games that spanned the time between DA2 and DAI.
You learn a lot about what really started the Mage/Templar war (not really Anders) the politics of the Winter Palace (who are you REALLY choosing and what are all the gossip you collect really talking about.) Asunder also explains Cole's existence prior to the Inquisition. (Who is Rhys and who are these "friends" Cole used to have?)
Magekiller is, at best... a Calpernia story? Stuherland and Crew? Maybe? it had two good jokes. Showed a smidge of Tevinter? But anything important or that particularly added to the world of Thedas- no.

My favorite book is the calling. Mine too. Would love to see David Gaider write another DA book. Really wanted that Fenris book. He created an amazing story and characters in The Calling with the most tragically beautiful love story he has written. Everytime the warden travels to Ozammar deep roads, think back to the book - those giant spiders and webs.Get the shivers when the spiders crawl down from the ceiling. I know what the team went through in the calling! The Stolen Throne - made me understand and sympathize with Loghain which didn't in the game. The first time played DAO Loghain kind of scared me. And Asunder set up DAI nicely. Evangeline - I like her alot. The Masked Empire - I liked it but not the Orlesian game nor masks. Didn't he want to do a Bethany story? I definitely wanted to read that.

Ugh...Bethany. That would be as boring as the first half of Masked Empire, which took me several months to read.
So, assuming there is a novel, what would it be about?

Didn't he want to do a Bethany story? I definitely wanted to read that. Oh I didn't know that! Wonder if Bethany as warden, circle mage or apostate or take her in a different direction. Or Bethany because of her kindness and determination becomes head of the mage circles and reforms them. Sebastian and her formed a tight relationship during he Hawke years and Bethany has been seen at Starkhaven many times. Ok, maybe not... should leave the writing thing to others - but she needs a happy ending. I think it was meant to be a story of circle mage Bethany, Sebastian and Nathaniel Howe that takes place after the end of DA2. I could be wrong though

Stolen Throne made me understand Loghain but more than that... made me understand Marric. He was never alive for himself. He was always alive for others; Loghain, Rowan, Ferelden. And Stolen Throne, the Calling, and DAO gave so much flavor to Flemeth's prophecy in Stolen Throne. That Loghain would destroy everything Marric loved peice by piece.
His elven love and the thing inside him that believe in the best in people in the same swoop.
his son, Cailain
And it took us to stop Loghain from destroying Ferelden, because he would have.
