I keep seeing people complain about the manifest bloat and how they can't unlock the things they want. So, I guess some of you haven't figured out how to force certain drops.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE LAST WEAPON YOU USED.
I discovered through rigorous testing* that you can force a specific UR drop by equipping a specific weapon in the match before buying a pack. More particularly, you must use the gun that alphabetically follows the weapon you want, one tier down within the same class. So, if you want, e.g., a Hurricane upgrade, you need to equip the M-25 Hornet in the match preceding the purchase.
A lot of people are going to say this doesn't work, but they're wrong and also basement-dwelling neckbeard plebes.
* Supporting data:
One time I used a Sweeper, and then bought a pack. It had a Soned IX.
AND a bunch of other times, I didn't use a Venom and the Shorty VIII did not drop in the subsequent pack.

Can confirm. I was working on my Hornet challenge at various times over the past two or four weeks, and I have unlocked at least one rank on my hurricane in that time frame.

I obsessively track everything so I can tell you that I was using the P.A.W. on the Krogan Engineer, and then I got ranks in the Valkyrie two packs in a row.

Was using the Black Widow for an Apex mission and then I spent all my millions on Premium packs and got about 6 Kishock upgrades.

RNG-state manipulation is clearly back in gaming, or at least, joking about it is  Anyone remember stuff like the Final Fantasy 12 RNG sequences for manipulating chest drops? Never did them myself, but always had a laugh reading them. Stuff like "punch self until 8hit combo" XD The most hilarious bit was it did actually seem to work due to RNG seeding on the PS2. |

If they discover we've hacked the RNG maybe they'll decide we need at least one more patch. Probably unlikely, but if so maybe they'll toss some more content our way if they had finished assets that were shelved because of the SP-driven decision to forego further patches. |

Also, does the weapon need to be your primary weapon? You actually need to play a round with it, or simply have it equipped when you purchase the pack?
Did you test this with Premium or Arsenal packs?
Another point; there would be a lot of guns that wouldn't be unlocked this way; N7 Eagle over the N7 Hurricane; how does the "data" work in these cases? Same with using the Shadow -> It should just unlock the Naladen, but what about the N7 Valiant?
