How to lock camera vertical panning?

I've been having a consistent problem with the game and it's getting quite irritating.

Each time I press forward to walk somewhere on the Tempest, the camera swivels through a vertical arc to point upwards.
This means I can't see where Ryder is going.

Does anyone know how I can fix this?
Or what the problem might be?

I want the camera set to follow mode, that it won't change position unless I have my hand on the mouse and am moving the angle with direct control.
*Harbinger voice* ASSUMING CONTROL.
Sorry, couldn't resist. 


Edit: Problem solved.
Somehow the camera pan up/down controls were mapped to the same keys as forward/back.
No idea how that happened, it might have been the patch update.
