I can not fathom why there isn't a text in-game chat in MEA. I played ME3 MP for over 1000 hours and I was very much lacking it. Something I hope BW might add to MEA.
As for commendations, they would be a nice motivator for people to work on objectives and revive teammates and keep playing in general. The way I see it, it should look like CSGO's.
Also, for the love of God, fix "Building shaders" thing.

Sadly, biower are against any in-game group chat. IIRC when asked about it for DAIMP, they were worried about abusive messages/griefing/hatemail. As if those things won't happen with external chat systems anyway.
Origin used to be ok for PC players, but for some inexplicable reason they got rid of group chat. Because people love switching between multiple chat windows and having to constantly fill in people on other parts of the conversation. Probably in keeping with the EA motto, "If it's good, make it shit".
Edit: Discord is pretty good if you're on PC. You have to alt-tab to read/send messages though.

I'm not even sure it would cost much to implement, but maybe EA policy would mean that a mute function was considered inadequate, and they'd have to physically police reports of abusive behaviour which could certainly take up manpower and resources. |

Options are a good thing. My use of text chat would almost exclusively be typing o/ after joining a pug, but still. The logic makes no sense, which is strange considering biower's flawless track record.

A few examples off the top of my head: - I've played with people that have babies and little kids and their situation restricts them from making any noise. Even living with parents or roommates could be a problem sometimes. - you can type fairly well in English but your verbal skills are worse. Or you have a heavy accent that really comes through poorly. Text chat is much more convenient for those people. - I know you'll give me hell for this one but if you're a girl you generally prefer not to use the mic either cause god knows there are plenty of creeps out there who go crazy when they hear a grill voice (pls don't be offended if you're not such a creep but we all know there are plenty) - you just genuinely don't fucking want to converse verbally with strangers Anyway, text chat should have been a option or at least they should have kept Origin's group chat for PC. It is BEYOND me and beyond any logic why EA decided to remove that nice feature. I give my vote for Discord for a third party text chat (or voice chat). It is pretty great. :gentleman: |

Why complain about something we've already got? Bioware gave us plenty of (semi-)automatic weapons for morse code chat. Seriously, what else did you think the assault weapons were for? Shooting stuff?

It is pretty great. :gentleman: I'm pretty sure most peeps have a mike but don't use it: the mike indicator in both ME3MP and MEAMP has an icon for 'no mike' and I only see that indication with about 1% of the players. So, the rest must be creeps nerds who are afraid they'll run into girls... |
