MEA2 if they want to apologize specifically for MEA's quality and prove they can do better, or if they are really set on MEA's plot continuing.

ME:X if they want to continue down a similar track as now, except without as much of the smell of MEA itself (for better or worse; ignoring MEA may not be a great sign for those who consciously stuck through it).
*by X I just mean a single word or term, and this post just isn't about deciding what specifically that word or term should be.

ME4 or ME5 if they want us to remember the trilogy (and either treat MEA as a side story in the long run, or the 'ME4' with a different name) and return to strong relevance of it again.



I prefer, I suppose, a ME:X that remembers MET more than how MEA did, but also continues MEA with a different but similar take. I'll take Ryder, but a different approach. I'll take Heleus, but rather different and story not limited to it. I'll take pretty much everything of MEA's setup, but I don't think it performed (both creatively and financially) well enough to justify making a more direct sequel that just as much has to do with its matters. Kett war, for example? Sure, but more as a major arc of something more important (not necessarily epic - the war could be the epic part! - but important), instead of the main and central arc.

I think ME:X would be good, too, to include both reconnection with the Milky Way and knowledge of and venturing beyond the Andromeda galaxy, but keeping the ME:'x' format in order to not totally commit to the numerical style of the Milky Way Trilogy. It'll still be Andromeda, just not THE totally-in-Andromeda thing of MEA.

That's just it.  I think it would be better if they were separate universes/settings.

So a totally separate IP with none of the bits of the ME franchise? Sure why not? We can call it Jade Empire 2.
