In the last 10 years, that have bee n a lot of really good RPGs : Mass Effect 1,2,3 Dragon Age 1,2,3, Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4, Skyrim, Bioshock 1,2 I can only remember 2 RPGs that failed in that time: Mass Effect Andromeda Bioshock Infiniti Both of these games had high expectations of success: good history and development teams One thing they had in common : CHECKPOINT SAVES !!!!! That IS the reason I won't buy ME:A, and IS the reason BI failed as far as I am concerned WHY do games devs think it is a good idea to use checkpoint saves, and not let us save our game?? That is ancient history from the stupid nintendo days, where the console had maybe a 4kb EEPROM for saving games And as long as I am ranting, WHY are game devs such flaming a holes to not let us NAME our save games???? There are no technical reason not to let us name the saves

If we were able to name saves, I wonder how many players would name them in reference to a point before bedding a companion.

Such as Dvinity Original Sin 1 and 2. Pillars of Eternity, Tyranny, Neverwinter Nights 2. And I wouldn't call MEA failed. It obviously failed economically, since it's no longer supported, but it's not a terrible as some make it out to be. In it's vanilla state Skyrim isn't that much better. The only thing keeping the Bethesda games afloat are the mods and the open world to explore. Not the roleplaying elements.

BioShock: Infinite was recent? or a RPG?
There was more wrong with both games then checkpoint saves.

Infinite isn't an RPG and was successful, while MEA was an RPG and got canned, that's not a success.

So you admit to never having played Andromeda? Yup, we're done here. SofaJockey would you please do the honors, please? I doubt we need another one of these threads. Guy's welcome to circle jerk in one of the myriad the others already made as far as I'm concerned.

EA offered 10 hour free trial, I played 3 hours which was enough to come to a conclusion that it is a fail.

Ok you found one place selling the inferior version cheap good for you. Doesn't prove a damn thing as it's common to get cheaper as time goes on.

"Bioshock Infinite has now sold around 11 million units, making it the most popular game in the series' history. That figure was revealed by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick at the Technology, Media, & Telecom Conference in New York, which was attended by Gamespot. Zelnick also put the lifetime sales of the Bioshock franchise at 25 million units, but the fact that Infinite represents almost half of that total will be encouraging to the series' fans" www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2015-06-01-bioshock-infinite-has-sold-11-million-unitsI bet Bioware would like one, just one, of their games to fail as badly as Infinite did. Alas none has.

I'm sure the lack of manual saving has been/is being discussed elsewhere. Other than that, it's that time again.
