Let's say Hardcore, with a Black Widow. How many shots to disable a leg, or the head? Do levels matter, or does scaling take care of that? At level 50-something, it seems to take a lot of shots, and I'm finding Architect fights more annoying than fun.

I think if really varies depending on just exactly where you hit, how far away you are, and the weapons and mods you're using. I've been playing on insanity for two playthroughs now and, with the dying I tend to do, many architect fights... Some of them have gone on for a long time and others have seemed ridiculously easy... even though I figured I was doing pretty much the same thing myself each time. I've had architects that have repeatedly spawned so many babies that the fights went on and on because the legs just never opened up and others where they only spawned babies 3 times the whole fight. It just seems pretty random to me. If you're finding they are dragging on and feeling tedious, take a stack of the Cobra RPGs with you and take it out that way.
