The newly buffed Sandstorm heralds the return of a Saber-like semi-automatic assault rifle to Andromeda. With an Assault Rifle Amp III and Targeting VI III boosters, coupled with the Vulnerability VI equipment, you can one shot Chosen and two shot Anointed and Destined when aiming for the head. With the concussive explosion, you'll be clearing out waves in no time! Video shows solo Gold Waves 1 and 2 on Firebase Zero against the Kett with the Human Juggernaut. Build link: bit.ly/2z4t4My

It's nice to reward accurate, aimed fire rather than the spray and pray that's been so dominant.

Was this a recent buff? Or did I miss it because I use the Hurricane with everything?Edit: N/m. I'm up to speed. Carry on.

Recent Server Side pushed change from what I've been reading. But only for two weapons so far.

The saber is already in the game in the form of an andromeda weapon Many people don’t even have a levelled up Inferno, let alone a Concussive variant. Plus, an Inferno starts with just a 5 round mag (and that 5th shot causes the lengthy recharge). You’ll need a high-level Inferno to get the extra 2 rounds. Even then you only have 7 rounds compared with 21 on the Sandstorm (with the extra mag mod). The Sandstorm has so much extra ammo (177) that it’s practically infinite when specced out as a headshot build.

Cool that it can one shot the lowest rank mooks if you go all in on headshot buffs, but it still looks like it has shit dps. The ttk in that video on destined and annointed seems bad. I still don't understand why you'd pick this gun over the Dhan, but hey, I guess it's cool that they're implementing users' balance suggestions without alteration, suggesting they're not even checking them.

Good change to the Sandstorm. Logged in and played last night for the first time in a week. Liked it enough to finish the challenge for it despite starting the night with something like 3800 points.
Halberd still feels extremely meh to me. IMO, it was so bad before that it should've kept the old damage value despite the RoF increase. That, or double the magazine capacity to pair with the RoF increase. Damage is middling, and reloading every ~4 seconds is a pain in the ass.

I still don't understand why you'd pick this gun over the Dhan, but hey, I guess it's cool that they're implementing users' balance suggestions without alteration, suggesting they're not even checking them. The Dhan's range is not unlimited. And, it has a three-shot clip. The Sandstorm has a 21 shot clip. That's up to 21 dead red bar mooks or 10 dead Destined/Anointed with headshots before you have to reload, with 177 shots in reserve. And this is on console, where it's harder to get headshots. Yes, the Dhan is one of the best weapons in the game, and I use my Dhan Siphon on many of my characters. Still, I'm thankful that there is another weapon choice to go to with my characters. Lastly, I cleared two waves in 3:33. That's fast for gold and more so considering I was doing it solo. Yes, for bosses, the Sandstorm may not be the best choice. Bring a Hurricane or Rozerad for those then.

I tried but switched to destiny before finishing wave 1. This game... ugh.

Why do people keep saying that.... the gun is better for sure, but its in no way any saber. I think you guys need to go back to ME3 and see how much damage the saber actually put out. This gun isn't even performing half of that. Inferno has Higher RoF and is behind by 42 damage per shot. +80 RoF more than makes up for that.
Ok if you don't have the inferno, then yes I can understand this overestimation, but no sandstorm is still mediocre in this hurricane/dhan reality.
And dude, how the hell do people endure that shyty RoF on the sandstorm. I'd rather have it at 300+ with hella compensatible recoil. Still no reason to use most of the mods...

Inferno has a higher headshot bonus as well, so it'll nearly always win on per shot weakpoints. And bonus damage to Shields.
It is definitely superior. The only catch is your personal UR progression. The inferno does shoot a too fast to feel like a saber to me though.

Saber shot pretty slow and sure, it takes more than two bodyshots sometimes but relatively speaking, it's in the same role as the Saber; a high powered assault rifle. Only this time the scope actually comes free.

Now I'm hating myself for slogging through the gruesome Sandstorm Challenge 2 months ago, should've waited... Although I never expected the Sandstorm to actually get buffed. Will definitely try it out.

The inferno does shoot a too fast to feel like a saber to me though. It is faster than the saber by a really small amount, but best candidate for a saber gun by far. Sandstorm although now a force, still just doesn't do it for me. The RoF being a serious issue since I'm a trigger spammer. I'd take a free to fire trigger with backfliping gun recoil over refire defined anyday. What im concerned with is that bioware seems to have fixed really bad weapons and made them tolerable. But can they fix the "overshadowed" weapons and make them balanced?

But can they fix the "overshadowed" weapons and make them balanced? I'd prefer the guns to be recoil based too but they aren't going to make that big of a change at this point. But you're right. I do a lot of target shooting IRL so I get it. They applied a tabletop RPG mechanic to something that should be more organic feeling. As for the Sanstorm's ROF. The reason I decided on A fast ROF for the Halberd and slow ROF for the Sandstorm is because of the way they sound. The Halberd has a short clap so at 300 RPM there was no way to tell when you could pull the trigger again. The Sandstorm has a longer ring to it that just so happens to coincide with a cyclical rate of 100 RPM. If you listen to it the gun will tell you when it can shoot again. I hope that helps.
