For me it has to be the Berserkers. Stunlock is still the most annoying thing in Mass Effect and these guys are masters of the art.

Nice poll, OP! I'm having a hard time choosing, though. It's been a while since I played but I feel none of the enemies in MEA are difficult since Juggs came out.
I voted Behemoth because I always have to use cobras on him to get him down...

Berseker, no question about it. I spec all the characters against armor because of that son of a bitch.

There is no experience like having an Adhi spawn behind you and grab you while you are fighting a pair of Berserkers. The Adhi holds on while the Berserkers take you down at their leisure, and you are totally helpless, hitting the melee key over and over again to no avail.
So, which is worse, the dogfish that won't let go, or a Berserker stunning you and then giving you the finishing headbump? Or the Fiend that materializes right behind you and immediately takes you down with no warning?
I have to think about this....

Add your vote back in please (i had to remove the poll and put it back up so i could add Pariah and Saboteur). I used to consider the Saboteur one of the most irritating enemies out there. Yet, again - with Juggs - you just walk up to the fuckers. They energy-drain you just before snap-freeze? No worries, they'll cryosplode anyway! 🌨 Pariahs? 💨 I also like to engage Krogan (Twins) and Blaze Hydra's with Juggs, so, I'm sticking with Behemoth...

Pariah. Hands down. At least the other enemies move in logical ways. The Pariah sprint strafes sideways while her upper body faces forward firing shotgun rounds at you. She reminds me a lot of the enemies from ME1. Completely unnatural and extremely frustrating to track on console. Their corpses always get extra rounds after I kill them.

For me, the most commonly encountered trouble would be the Ascendant. Identical to it for me on Platinum, would be the Blaze Hydra. But I put the Ascendant first as most annoyance as I encounter them much more than Blaze Hydras.

I don't even know what a progenitor is. According to the wiki, it's an enemy... "Highly professional in Genitoring". And if it's in a wiki it must be true

Progenitor on a glass jaw mission makes for great fun! Mainly they just have too much health. I know their health is based on their insane weakpoint bonus, but you can kite them for a long *** time without them deciding to expose themselves.

I don't even know what a progenitor is. It's the Veteren/Elite version of a Remnant Destroyer. You know - the one that fires ball lightning shells out of its turrets instead of laser beams. The one that spawns its own red Observers.

The biggest issue is that a lot of the enemies are one trick ponies to an overly large degree, but are also trying to be consistently dangerous.
Berserkers are the biggest and most obvious offenders. They are supposed to be the big cover buster unit, and when it comes to busting cover they are very good at it, but they only have that one attack, so to be threatening they need it to be on such a short cooldown that it becomes shear frustration to deal with in all situations. What it should be is that they have a normal attack, a shotgun blast from their ruzad, and flack cannon is on a cooldown of say 16 seconds, but they get a 400% cooldown bonus when their target is in cover, so they can knock you out of cover every 4 seconds, but won't constantly stagger lock you when you aren't.
Another issue is that enemy abilities don't scale up at all, the progenitor is a very interesting scale up from the destroyer, for better or worse, and it forces you to come up with a new tactical set when dealing with it compared to it's predecessor. While standard assemblers are so worthless that they aren't even on platinum. And had to have their guns buffed repeatedly to be a threat on other difficulties. And they actually scale better than most units because they build more and better breachers, other enemies like outlaws, and chosen are a forgettable nuisance.
This has led to the standard platinum infantry being berserkers, saboteurs, destined, and anointed. Saboteurs are the most interesting and complex infantry because their energy drain ability gives them a way to heal, bust cover somewhat, and makes them more dynamic than shooting a gun. If they weren't equipped with the three shot goodbye suppressed hand cannon they would be perfect shock troops to fight against.
Enemies need to scale up in complexity, not just raw stats, I like what the progenitor represents, increased complexity, evolution of a unit, not just raw scaling of the same thing with 25% more damage and 50% more health. Even if I don't like the unit itself so much. Give gold+ outlaw troopers fortification, so they get tougher and resist debuffs. Give the chosen the same grenades the destined use on top of their standard ones so you don't know what is being thrown at you. Make the assembles give a shield boost other units like saboteurs do for themselves. Heartbreaker in Inquisition did a good job adding one "new" ability to each unit, and letting the enemies combo on the player.

Was a tough choice between Adhi's & Berserkers for me, chose the latter though, but only just.

Not to mention their melee charge has really good range and tracking. Once they start, it's pretty hard to avoid it on reaction. Come to think of it, Flak Cannon shots are hard to avoid on reaction, too. In terms of cover busters, I learned to appreciate the design behind Scion cluster bombs. They gave you just enough of time to escape or hunker down and hope for the best.

I've never dodged a flak cannon, I've been completely missed, but like hydra missles they don't even have to hit you to stagger. A berserker by itself actually is not annoying at all, I actually like it, but since they come in doubles and triples... they become an issue, while 1 blaze hydra will completely drop my shields and 90% of my health by the time I realize wtf is shooting me.
If pole showed 2-3 berserker, I'd have chosen it, but blaze is the worst.
