I love the Normandy, I really do... but for the purposes of gameplay it's just *too big*. The Normandy in ME3 is so damned unwieldy after the relative openness of it in ME2, particularly. So, I give it to the Tempest. It's easier to Navigate, it's not bigger than it needs to be, and there are no interminable elevator rides or Security Scans (seriously, WTF guys)

Loved Ryder's quarters and the Tempest's cockpit, but the rest of the ship was meh.

I mean a point where player is artifically slowed down to ensure loading of the next area in timely manner.

That's the feeling I always got, otherwise what reason could there be? I also didn't like that a door that was fully present on the opposite half of that deck in ME2 was gone in ME3, forcing you to go through the 'stand for screening' spot.
I mean, sometimes doors take forever to open on the Tempest, but it doesn't feel half as offensive to me.

Ummm... surely you realize that since the screening door was a disguised loadscreen, if the portside door had still been there, it would have needed a scanner too. As for the topic, I'm not sure. I like the Tempest, but it's really annoying to have the weapons locker so far from the research station.

I do realize. I just hate it. Cerberus-Normandy still had the elevator, but at least on each level you didn't have any other nonsense loading to go through. It's why I prefer the Tempest and it's 'sticky' doors. Because I can at least still move around near the spot while I wait, rather than get frozen in place. It's twitchy and impatient of me, I know, but that's how I feel about it.

I preferred the Normandy SR-2. At least it had a Thanix canon and missiles.

That is a really tough question, but I finally picked Cerberus Normandy.
The original Normandy has serious nostalgia, but that damn lift took an age...
The Alliance butchered the SR2, which I get, but they brought back the loading points and could they not have tidied up some of the loose cabling by the end of the game? Kinda feel like Shep would have had too many accident forms to fill out.
The tempest was pretty but a lot of wasted space, massive room for the Pathfinder without an en suite?!, seriously lacking in the weapon/shielding department.
What Cerberus did with the Normandy was fantastic, efficient and powerful, and Joker got leather seats. Happy pilot = happy Shep.

The elevator is what tipped it for me to the Tempest, but I still agree with all of your points.

At the very least they could have at least cleaned up the ship after a couple of story missions. Replace some wall panels, do something about the loose cables etc... Especially given how many times throughout the game we stop back at the citadel. Give that guy that wonders around the crew deck that salutes us something to do.

Although I loved all incarnations of the Normandy almost equally, the Tempest was just so well designed. It felt like a single, cohesive whole, instead of thematically connected segments. This was likely due to lack of loading screens or the more open design, but I really felt that the interior and exterior belonged to the same ship. Sometimes I would have difficulties rectifying the Normandy's layout with the ship's design. I never really felt like it fit together.

I really miss the music from SR-1. It was cool at first but it drove me nuts by the 20 hour mark. I loved how you could actually hear the engine humming on the SR2. It felt like being on a ship. They brought ambient music back for the Tempest but it is subtle enough not to drive me nuts.

It's got to be the SR2 which Alliance stole from Cerberus for me! Which, lets face it, is exactly what they did: They STOLE it and modded it!

It's a shame we never got to go into the shuttle bay of the Cerberus SR2. No I don't count the Oculus fight during the suicide mission

Alliance definitely got the better half of the deal when Shepard died and was brought back. Sure, they lost him and the SR1. But then Cerberus spent 4mil at least, just on him. Plus built a ship. And all they had to do was steal both of them back. It'd be like giving an old banger to a mate, and him bringing back a Bugatti. The Men in charge must have been laughing.

Tempest is the best, because you can operate it with a small crew. More of a Millennium Falcon (which is the all time best of course). But I do have better memories of the SR2 Cerberus.
