I'm trying to think if a dumber build but I can't. I don't think any other build actively works against itself more than this one. Yet it is mind boggling to me how often I see it. It's especially frustrating when I see a human engineer in a lobby so I unequip my incendiary rounds so as not to cause an issue then I get in game and see this guy standing next to his flame turret firing off cryo beam like an idiot. /rant over
MORAL: This isn't Game of Thrones. A song of fire and ice doesn't work in Mass Effect. Please stop.

A song of fire and ice doesn't work in Mass Effect. Please stop. I think the issue is that both Rank 6 evolutions are underwhelming. The flame turret seems to work better for camping type builds, despite the conflicting cyro beam. I only use Krogineer, though. My issue, is that I can't see anything in front of me when the flame turret goes off; it's annoying. (And why is this quote hidden?  ) |

I'm more inclined to blame the bad design that undermines the kit with hidden mechanics that are never explained in the game. NO, it is not a bad design. They've designed the turret with 3 characters in mind. 1) Human Engineer 2) Krogan Engineer 3) Angara Insurgent HEngineer needs to spec the cryoturret. Krogineer needs to spec the flamethrower cos she's got incinerate. Insurgent could go either way though the cryoturret would be a better choice. |

With flame turret on the human engineer you can at least selectively use cryo beams at more distant targets... though I would still tell people to avoid it. On bronze/silver your flame turret could probably kill a half dozen non-bosses as a human engineer, so maybe it would make a good APEX rating 100 build.
What I don't get is shield spending nova. Seismic to me seems like it is always the better choice for vanguards. For gladiator, I can't even fit nova rank 6 into my spec. I want AoE pull, I want either vortex or shield restore, I want the huge health/DR/team DR talents from rage, I want biotic warrior for pull-melee.

Still don't understand why people think turret's worth 6 ranks on any character, fire/cryo conflict or no. - On platinum, you would be bleeding gel and dropping like a fly if you didn't have a fully specd turret constantly sitting next to you to split the aggro. (200% recharge speed to redeploy quickly, omni-link to extend turret's life and cryoturret), - Spec for bonus shield damage on offensive tech and the turret will help knock out shields on most non-boss shielded enemies fast. - With cryoturret (100% armor debuff) and cryobeam (115% armor debuff), you get a total of 215%. This IS the kit with the highest armor debuff %. Melt debuffed beserkers and blaze hydras with your elemental tech enabled hurricane. - 1 point in overload pretty much gives you all its utility. Triggers elemental tech, stuns 3 enemies at a time, and takes out a marginal amount of shields. - A Rank 1 turret would be a terrible idea on platinum especially when you have 3 cloak bros on your squad cloaking away into oblivion. - For Gold and lower, spec it with whatever (it wouldn't matter either way) |
