The negative effects always overshadow the benefits to me, have never seen one I'd want to use. Is there some specific boss fight were a certain sigil would help, for example the +100% Poison damage one would help against a boss vulnerable to poison and immune to everything else?? EDIT: Some interesting possibilities presented in this thread some questions on how the calculations are done: if I have 200 armor and wear the Tusket sigil (-100% armor) is my armor now zero? general question does the percentage number multiply or add, i.e., if I have some stat at 20%, and the sigil increases that 10%, does that mean 22% or 30% 1) Sigil of the Chevalier still doesn't look like a good idea: 15% increase in front armor ain't that impressive, and -50% all other armor WILL be a problem when you ranged fighters get surrounded, and they will get surrounded occasionally! 2) Sigil of the Bronto : does seem like a good idea for a warrior, likely try it. Could be a problem against magical attacks though 3) Sigil of the Deepstalker: questions here: a) Are ranged attacks (arrow/bolt/spell) always considered Flanking attacks, or only if from the side/back of the particular enemy being targeted??? 4) Sigil of the Golem questions again: ZERO Critical chance?? Doesn't everybody have some critical chance, which can be increased by armor/weapons 5) Sigil of the Giant: -100% Cooldown times. GREAT, that means ZERO cooldown times A few of the others would be useful for killing specific dragons, i.e. +Fire, +Spirit. +Cold; but then you'd need to remove them

I like the idea of sacrificing a stat to gain another, but the costs in sigils are too high to use.

There is a mod that makes them better.
Otherwise, I don't use them. I consider them Trash that gets me a slightly higher sale price.

Same. ME:A does these better, but mostly because it gives you an in-game attribute you can slot that cuts the bad stuff in half. DA:I I just sell 'em. Garbage.

One or two sigils are quite useful, since they have penalties that you can avoid or won't care about. For instance, the Sigil of the Chevalier has a penalty for non-front armor, but a ranged character probably won't take many shots from anywhere but the front. A sigil which nukes your crit chance won't hurt a character who isn't designed to crit in the first place.

I used the Sigil of the Great Bear on some armour for my Knight Enchanter with no noticeable drawbacks. Indeed, I was able spam spells constantly. My understanding is that there effectively isn't a mana regeneration penalty for mages with that sigil.

I've experimented with a number of them, but only a couple have I found to be truly useful (build dependent). Off the top of my head, I've used Great Bear & Lyrium (again, depending on class/build). Eg. A Knight Enchanter with a good Pact Belt (eg. Storm) and Lyrium Sigil may take a huge hit in health, but it won't matter because you'll dole out obscene amounts of damage with a nigh invulnerable barrier.

I've used the Sigil of Lyrium before, and just equipped a Superb Belt of Health to make up for the minus to health. But other than that one, no I don't use Sigils.

I actually think they’re not intended to be super-useful, but in fact detrimental. They’re deliberate handicaps meant to alter your play style in a certain way.
“Oh, you think your mage is hot shit, huh? Well, what if you were forced to only cast Lightning spells? Would you be hot shit then?”

I use a few of them all the time - Sigil of Deathroot on ranged rogues that aren't getting hit a lot, Sigil of Lyrium on Knight-Enchanters just to make sure nothing gets through that barrier, Sigil of the Golem on tank warriors that have no crit chance anyway. Sometimes use the elemental sigils on mages who only use one element for damage, too.

I love Sigil of the Bronto on my Warriors. They don't need barrier if they have a good guard.

Turning up the difficulty in most games just makes enemies more durable. They don't do anything different or get new attacks, they just have more HP. That has been the standard for a long time. So I like the idea of allowing the player in a single-player game to customize their own difficulty. Put the game on normal and don't upgrade potions/spells or use a party of two instead of four. I prefer the trials over the sigils, but they are a step in the right direction.

I love Sigil of the Bronto on my Warriors. They don't need barrier if they have a good guard. Would also be good for late-game rogues with guard-on-hit gear, especially if you like to lead off with stealth attacks.

Yes, I agree And the Sigil of Lyrium sounds like it would be great for a Knight Enchanter. What does a KE need more health, if they have an unbreakable barrier.

There are several which are pretty useful, depending upon the type of character one is playing. I'd honestly forgotten these even exist. There's no "Fusion Mod of Adrenaline" among them that completely alters the way the game plays.

I don't use them for pretty much the same reason I never spec into blood mage. I don't have the patience to sit down and do math to figure out if it's worth it or not. I just play on easy and equip the stuff I think is cool.
