BioWare Edmonton to move

Oh, that's sad. I loved looking at that old building when driving into our glorious provincial capital city, heh. But, I guess, the real estate prices are going down, so...

But how to explain it to Ganders and Arishonk?

Upgrade from what I've read on reddit/Edmonton.

Their old place required a car to reach, everything was far and apparently parking was parse. The new place is near public transits, has lots of amenities nearby and an underground parking.

The interior will most probably be designed as they wish with the 1+ years until the move.

Their old building was an office part of a hotel. It's nice, in the olde Edmonton style with an atrium that they used to build there a lot. A smallish gym... I actually stayed there once, and it was funny to see gym sign-up sheet for BioWARE. Heh.

I have not spent much time in downtown Edmonton (our office there is on the outskirts), but I always thought it was a fairly quiet city (compared to insanity that is Calgary) and downtown is... just a normal NAM downtown. I am guessing their new building will be newer and shinier, and it is a move up. We have more vacancies in the core nowadays in Alberta because of the downturn in oil prices.

I do hope they get an atrium space again though, it is one thing that really was great about the Edmonton buildings, particularly in the winter.

The Epcor Tower looks really nice. It's not surprising that a company would expand their footprint at some point. The company I worked for for a while did the same thing, though they wound up building their own tower property when they moved.
