Wait, does that really claim that Gravity would be nearly instantaneous, the same year that Gravity waves were first observed? Wow, that's bullshit. Besides, the distance earth (or any other planet) travels during the time gravity information needs to get to their location is rather miniscule, compared to the orbital circumference. So this proclaimed offset from the perpendicular is really not large. Fun Fact, one of the very first Test of Einstein's theory of general relativity was on the "unusual" precession of the perihelion in Mercury's orbit. Bonus points for adding "but one more falling domino, collapsing the credibility of RT", after (afaik) every single RT prediction has reliably been validated.

Newfound asteroid gives Earth a close shavewww.foxnews.com/science/2017/01/10/newfound-asteroid-gives-earth-close-shave.html
The asteroid, known as 2017 AG13, flew by our planet at just half the distance from Earth to the moon at 7:47 a.m. EST. (On average, the moon lies about 239,000 miles from Earth.) A smallish asteroid zoomed past Earth Jan. 9, just two days after scientists first spotted the space rock. 2017 AG13 is thought to be between 36 and 111 feet wide, according to astronomers at the Minor Planet Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts. For perspective, the object that exploded over the Russian city of Chelyabinsk in February 2013, injuring more than 1,000 people, was thought to be about 65 feet wide.

The revelation that our ancient ancestors mated with one another could help explain one of the great mysteries in anthropology: Why did the Neanderthals disappear? After first venturing out of Africa, Neanderthals thrived in Europe for several hundred thousand years. But they mysteriously died out about 30,000 years ago, roughly around the same time that modern humans arrived in Europe.
Some scientists have suggested modern humans out-competed or outright killed the Neanderthals. But the new genetic evidence provides support for another theory: Perhaps our ancestors made love, not war, with their European cousins, and the Neanderthal lineage disappeared because it was absorbed into the much larger human population.I look like something between these 2 faces. It's funny but true. And the article: news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2014/01/140129-neanderthal-genes-genetics-migration-africa-eurasian-science/Less Neanderthal, and more Sapiens tho.

If a gyroid structure of Graphene is only 10 times stronger than steel, I'd be seriously disappointed. Speaking of, ...if I had a dollar for every time something "stronger than steel" was announced,.. but journalists have to do what journalists do, I suppose. I wonder how many times stronger than steel an I-beam - made of steel - is?

If you want a slight, hands on grasp and understanding of the challenge of going to Mars, I recommend you to play KSP. And that challenge comes sans radiation and zero-gravity concerns, and is lessened by a smaller scale solar system. Still... If you think this is easy... Well if it was, there would be no point in doing it. That's the wonder of KSP, it brings you the adventure, scope and heroic dimension of space exploration. How much more practical wouldn't an expedition to Mars be, if you could bring a large crew, sufficient radiation protection, sufficient g (centrifug), etc, with you. If you could build a spaceship like a ship, instead of like a balloon gondola. Well, there was a solution for that:

So materially speaking after Stone age we have been in these ages:
Copper (~ 5000 BC) - Bronze (~ 3000 BC) - Iron & Steel (since 1000 BC) - Aluminum & Plastic (since late 19th - 20th centuries)
Not talking about energy.

Yeah, that's fair I think. Though, in meaning of material "age" I think it has to have dominant consequences for technological life. And in that sense I think we're looking at an Aluminium age since about 1930'ies, mainly because of its impact on aviation. And we're looking at a Plastic age since 1960'ies, mainly because of its impact on manufacturing. There are other ways to divide into eras. Ape age, Tool-age, Agricultural age, Classical age, Dark Age (Theocracy), Medieval age, Renaissance, Age of Gun Powder, Industrialization-age, Electrical-age, Internal Combustion-age, IT-age. On a more personal level, I think the successive family generations have recently belonged to the Car-age, TV-age, Computer-age and now Smartphone-age. What comes next? Virtual age?

Our destruction by self-evolving global AIs... I actually prefer WW3 to that... Intelligent machines and self-evolving global AIs are inevitable - unless Islam sinks us all into their usual, miserable, dark hellhole, and I don't believe that because I have hope in that China will resist, or we are destroyed by some global disaster -, but I have hopes that they (machines) will like us enough to keep us around. Also, there's a chance the self-evolving machines would be more interested in exploring and exploiting space (because they can do that) than exterminating biological life on earth.
