Yeah, wasn't surprising. Seriously, 2017 was a strong year for RPGs and games in general, there is no way on this green and radioactive Earth (possibly playing too much Fallout) that ME:A could hope to compete against the likes of Nier, Nioh, and HZD. My friends rave non-stop about Nier ... personally couldn't stand the game because I suck at action. Let's see who got nominated for 2017 best RPG. Persona 5 - Touted by many as the best pure JRPG in a decade. Nier - Yeah not surprising. Everybody's raving about this like it's the second coming. Divinity Original Sin 2 - DESERVES ALL THE ACCOLADES IT GETS. And then you include HZD and Legend of Zelda into the Game of the year category and holy shit, Strong, STRONG year and Andromeda was the weakest game from Bioware since ... well, Sonic. I forgot Bioware made a Sonic game. Either way pretty sure Andromeda is better than DA2.

Yeah that's the biggest joke. Some of the performance's in Andromeda where honestly better than Aloy. There is not a single performance in MEA that deserves any sort of recognition, I can't speak to Aloy as I didn't play HZD, but MEA doesn't deserve any recognition in this department Apparantely the Golden Joystick Awards did.

I forgot Bioware made a Sonic game. Either way pretty sure Andromeda is better than DA2. Personal opinion, of course. But I played DA2 after having played MEA. For the first time, since I hated the demo and didn't buy the game when it first came out. But since I got it on sale, I have to say, DA2 is so much better in all the fields that matter to me. Story, companions, RPG elements.

I like Andromeda a great deal, but DA2 plays to a key strength of BioWare's in a much stronger way than Andromeda did, which is its character focus. Each companion has a more meaningful story, and have bigger (and in my opinion better) companion quests that get enough attention to span over multiple acts of the game. Hawke as a protagonist has more options in general in terms of personality and interacting with the world around him/her, though in fairness, this is something Dragon Age typically did more than the Mass Effect series as a whole, and the friendship/rivalry system allows us to get more variety and drama in the way our characters interact with one another. Also, I think the companion roster is immensely more entertaining.

I hope Divinity Original Sin2 gets best RPG. In my opinion, hands down, the best game that came out this year. I'm not surprised MEA did get zero nominations. It's average. Neither good nor bad, so it swims with the crowd.

I can't wait to see the full power up from the preview in the next ep. Though I will say that the power levels have gotten far out of hand in this series. But I still love it!

You can dismiss this thread all you want but it still doesnt stop the fact that this could play a role in how EA views and treats the Andromeda brand going forward. I'm sure no one at EA knows this thread exists, let alone that it will influence them in any way. True, but they know how many awards or nominations their games get. Maybe the suits dont know, but their PR/Marketing suits do and I bet this is the stuff that gets reported up the chain.

Imagine if they'd won something : " and the winner is.... oh, they're gone" .
Andromeda is not a "bad" game , i enjoyed enough parts to prevent calling it bad, but it's not stellar either, far from it, so it doesn't deserve anything. I treat it as a mistake for which BW pays for heavily, but hopefully not fatally. I so want an ME5 done properly, not expecting perfection ( there will be bugs) but a good story, some decent game mechanics and 60 hours max.

Lol did hybrid just delete their account? Funny how it's always the defenders that delete their accounts. Unrealistic expectations and/or goals imo. Hybrid and UpUp signed up to the forum primarily to defend Andromeda against all those people "bashing the game" and I think they got frustrated when they made no headway. They made no headway because Andromeda ain't a great game and all the defending in the world, all the excuses, won't prevent people from seeing everything wrong with it. I'm surprised UpUp lasted as long as he did to be honest. The way he'd rabidly defend the game against everyone takes energy, it's exhausting, and he has a life to lead so priorities have to come into play.

I have only ever interacted with Upup away positively and on Non Mass Effect portions of the board. Therefore, he was obviously not just here for that. And also, he and a few others I know just take breaks from the board and come back again. I think I've seen him do it twice just this year. I've liked you on other parts of the board, so let's be cool eh

I remember this because one of the first things UpUp did after he signed up on the forum was ask why we (including me) were all here on a Bioware forum if we didn't want to talk positively about the game, after which I had to get into an argument with him about the purpose of what a forum actually is about. That was fun. Hybrid's first post was to make a new topic calling out fans for doing the same thing after every game, which ended up in numerous giant arguments. Also fun. Both users first acts with those accounts were to try and call out fans badmouthing the game. This is why they signed up. They can do other things while they're here and yet still be here primarily to defend a game.

I have no doubt he was willing to discuss with you, another fan of Mass Effect Andromeda, things in a polite manner. Most people who didn't like the game have had run ins with him, though. This was one of Hybrid's first posts on the forum - bsn.boards.net/thread/13541/fanbase-phenomenon-latest-me-worst . A topic calling out the Bioware community. Great first impression.

I remember Upup from the official forums so no, he did not join up just to defend Andromeda. But if he had, so what? It's not a crime to defend something you like, is it?

But if he had, so what? It's not a crime to defend something you like, is it? Most definitely not and I never said it was. I'm doing the same thing with a quarterback I like on an NFL forum. What I did was I posted the idea that they could have been exhausted due to battling against "rabid haters" of the game (which takes a lot of energy) and some people leapt on it. If it's not a crime to rigorously defend something you like why am I suddenly having to defend my opinion that that's what they signed up to do? As though I'm insulting them or something? I make no judgement about people's posting habits in general.

Oh no.. because games have to get awards, don't they? This is like review bashing. Who cares what other people think?
For people who enjoyed Andromeda, does it matter if it wins GOTY or not? They're still going to play it and that's fine. All the click bait and flaming won't change that because it's just opinion.

So, what? No nominations means it's the worst thing ever? No, but until now Dragon Age 2 was the only game released by Bioware since 2007 that wasn't awarded best RPG (not even talking about best game.) And Dragon Age 2 was on a 1.5 year dev cycle and insanely rushed. It's just another indicator that Andromeda wasn't up to Bioware's (usually high) standards.
