Bioware a grand player in making great RPG's now totally relegated to producing online "corporate" predatory fodder full of addictive money milking tactics. What does that tell you?! How are you supposed to survive within a predatory monolith, Anthem = answer.
I think Bioware's number on the failed pile destroyed by EA is drawing closer and closer.

There was a reason MEA died an ugly death while the multiplayer lived on for a bit... micro transactions. Now EA has released Battlefront 2 and the shit is hitting the fans because of... loot crates... Seriously. EA is being called out for their predatory practices. Will this have an effect on future Bioware games? I would suspect so in that multi-player maybe scaled back to where the money they make isn't worth the money they make, which might be really good for single player story lines. There is no bad for EA while being good for Bioware. If it's bad for one it's bad for the other.

I think Bioware's number on the failed pile destroyed by EA is drawing closer and closer. I guess it all hinges on the success of Anthem, a game I won't buy, since the concept doesn't interest me. From there on it's anyone's guess as far as future games are concerned. I'm a bit sceptical that they're still able and encouraged to produce quality RPGs. |

I secretly very much hope that this affects the masterminds behind & around Anthem and makes them wonder if they are next in line with their product to face this global storm against microtransactions (is there a shorter word for this?!). BioWare suffered already so badly for Andromeda. With Anthem failing, I fucking hate to repeat this, but in my eyes, they are done. I think they are really trying to create something good however; they hired already one of the best storyteller in games and sci-fi: Drew Karpyshyn.

They can't survive and support it for a reported timespan of ten years, if there aren't any microtransactions involved. The only remaining question is, how these microtransaction look. But there will be microtransactions. Of that you can be sure. |
