OK, so I went there, saw the Thorian Creepers, confronted the scientist and she and her cronies ended up dead. This is the usual approach I've taken, even as a Renegade (since I take Renegade to mean pragmatic rather than corrupt). But I was thinking about it. Is what she did here any worse than what happened on Luna with the rogue VI? The creepers were docile until the Thorian was killed. That was unexpected. Yes, what was happening on Feros was outright wrong but this specific incident really wasn't. I think I future runs I may be more lenient with the scientists on Nodacrux. I'm not saying take money (which is corrupt - the way Saren did things) but maybe not kill her. Any thoughts?

As far as I know there's only these two ways. Kill them or take the bribe money. If you try to arrest them they will attack you and you're forced to defend yourself.

An option to let them walk away - without taking any bribe money - would have been good. It's not one that I would take, but in general I like having more options to resolve quests without violence, when it makes sense.
As to the ethical questions - I'm 99% convinced Exogeni is a Cerberus front, so I'm assuming that whatever they were up to on Nodacrux was nothing good. But like I said, players who feel differently should have had the option to let them off the hook without taking a bribe.

If you don't want the money and not kill them, avoid the mission. Can't have both. I've only completed the mission a couple of times which led to the scientist being killed. She doesn't want to go to jail.

Yes, I think I wrote a post last year discussing potential links between Cerberus, ExoGeni and Binary Helix. Now, you're probably right they were up to no good but it did seem like there was no neutral option here. Also, the way Shepard "blames" the scientist makes her no different than the scientists who created what became the rogue VI on Luna. In both cases, the creations went haywire and a lot of people died. Could be the Alliance scientists all died and so there's no reason to point fingers but it just seemed like there was inconsistency here.

I don't know about them being a cerberus front, but i think cerberus still has many connections to every major human organization. Hence why they have so much funding. Although ME3 cerberus power still didn't make sense.
