Perhaps the Nomad will be a suitable alternative . Also, having Ignis drive reminds me of the option in Red Dead Redemption to be driven.

While FFXV is not a terrible game, it's just so average. There's sooo much wasted potential and the game just completely and utterly falls apart after chapter 8. I remember being so excited when the 2013 E3 trailer was shown and yet this is the final product.Like it's cool SE will be adding cutscenes and fixing many of the wasted characters but this is shit that should have been there at launch instead of rushing the game out.

I really liked it, now that I've finished it, though I'll be waiting for the NG+ patch before I dive back into it for more than just exploration and misc bounties, since I did a LOT during my first run.

The ending destroyed me. I am depressed but also feel like my life has a meaning. And that meaning is waiting for the DLC to come out, also FFXV-2 please. Don't leave me hanging Tabata, you sick freak. SO much this! I loved the ending though, it's pretty strong but damn is there so much content out there that needs to be put in, such as the monster from Brotherhood, Kingsglaive characters and a better fight with the Nifelheim rulers and generals. Fighting the emperor like that was fucking lame and not getting revenge on the guy that killed Gladio's and Noctis' dads was lame. I will say though, that Ardyn is my favorite FF villain now. That guy's so fucking swagged out and devious that I loved to hate him especially after Altissia.

The man helps the world and purifies darkness by absorbing it to himself and suddenly he is unfit for ascension and gets betrayed by someone close(?) to him who then takes up his title, all the while he becomes immortal with darkness festering inside of him. Yeah I can't really blame the guy for being pissed off, gods basically threw him out like a used condom. The game has a lot of content missing, which is fine because the game had been in development hell for 10 years, including one hard reset and I think one soft reset on the story. For once, I'm excited to see what the DLC are going to bring!

My brother has been telling me to play this since it came out and I kept saying "Nah, as a fan of old-school FF games, I outgrew the series at the FF10-12 era". So he got it for me for Christmas..... So I'll be firing this up this week at some point. Not sure how I feel about it, but I'll give it a go.

I finally finished it last night staying up until 5 a.m. What an amazing ending. It left me in a similar state as ME and Nier. Ardyn is one of the best villains, if not THE best in FF for me, and this journey was truly incredible. I quickly came to love our 4 brothers, their bond and their banter, I had a lot of fun riding in the car with them or running around, just enjoying the beautiful world, or reminisce about locations and scenes thanks to Prompto's photos. Still there's this longing to really know more about the (side) characters and lore of this game, as I felt that much of this got not enough screentime, like Ravus, or Noct's father, or even Iedolas. I admit I haven't watched Kingsglaive yet (that will change today), but I found it a little sad that there was not much about them in the game, even though it makes perfect sense since we see this journey through Noct's eyes. I also thought the main story was too short, albeit great. I'd have liked to have more long scenes, I was really surprised how quick the chapters moved in comparison to all the side quests, but I guess I can live with that since I really enjoyed the story a lot. The combat was different and hectic, yet still fun. I was a little disappointed by the last fight though. Mostly I felt there wasn't much room for tactics and I rarely used magic at all. I'm a fan of turn-based combat though, so I was already prepared I wouldn't like the combat as much, and I guess I have to live with it that they'll never return to this type of combat Even though this is nothing like the old Final Fantasy games, I still had a lot of fun, and some nods to the past. I smiled like an idiot when I first talked to Wedge and Biggs Anyway, before I post even more... I made some screenshots myself (couldn't let Prompto do all the work ), so I'll just leave some of them here

On chapter two, I'm enjoying it but Christ, this game's sidequests make DAI's look meticulously handcrafted.

I've heard pretty good things about it, but I'm not getting it until after Square does some patches. I've heard they are adding in cutscenes for the entire game and they are doing much-needed tweaks to Chapter 13. I've been reading non-spoiler reviews and all of them talk about how bad that segment is.

So, I watched the "sins of the game" YouTube channel for this game, which pretty much spoiled all of it. What intrigued me at first was the possible, albeit limited, romance mechanic. Then I find out she gets "Aerithed", as it were. It also seems... Complicatedly long? Like, why the time jump schtick? Why does the bad guy keep walking away leaving his rival alive like a bad Power Rangers Episode?

Didn't wannae start new topic so dug this up 😆
Bought this while waiting on net being put on in new house so basically played base game with no patches.
I found the companions annoying tbh, Gladious the father of the group, Ignis the mother, Prompto the stoopid sister an Noctis the emo child, the ever repeating an often completely rubbish dialogue (i know the roads are dangerous at night an dont need reminded constantly, its hot? why no remind me every 5 mins?, wear your jacket if u dont want to catch cold? seriously?) yeah some of worst dialogue i ever heard tbh
combat so simple cod seems complicated yet at same time so freaking frustrating
Story a mess after reaching altissa
I could go on, the game weirdly feels rushed the last few chapters an you'd think it been in development for not even half the time but i suprisingly had alot of fun regardless of my complaints an the games shortcommings an spent 110 hours in first PT reaching lvl 99 with 100% trophies on p4, now im online an updated a find myself doing a new game pt, ng+ holds no interest to me as doesn't look like anything scales an no new difficulty setting so meh.
tldr: annoying, frustrating, unfinished but fun and addictive

And for those interested, they recently released a Windows Benchmark app. benchmark.finalfantasyxv.com/na/Unfortunately, the test ran at 1080p and 4K, but not a 1440p (which is what I would run). So I just gave 1080p a shot.

Honestly the game wasn't what i expected it to be from what we told when tabata took over the project from nomura.... i remember when i first saw the game back at e3 2013 with this amazing trailer(which is the best btw). My hype was increasing from shows to trailers, interviews. Then all my excitement was lost when i read the "true" leak, and basically it told all the story. I was really shocked when one of them was confirmed and then the rest onwards. Still can't believe at how much potential the game had but then they dropped the ball so easily. Most things tabata said was not in the game(e.g most of the trailers, that omen trailer was so epic and i would've loved if something like that happened in the game, but they might(?)add it or maybe not. luna guest member, altissia so big the developers got lost lol etc.).It's just sad..
I don't blame him though, i also blame square enix. He took the project which was not his in the first place, and planned to have three games, and instead make it one while also keep the vision of nomura. It was a hard job, but i think he added a lot and it didn't seemed like he was keeping that vision true but mostly do his own things while keep some elements. Now that i think of it he said that the game was a lot different from vsxiii, and that makes me wonder. Why he didn't fleshed out the characters and the story is beyond me. He had 3 years! It seemed to me that he focused a lot on the marketing and got lost his track. Don't get me started on how stupid it was with that cringey uncovered event. They even showed the game at theatres!
I have to say that kingsglaive was unnecessary. Insomnia should've been playable like it originally was. Tenebrae too. Such a beautiful place and we get to see it destroyed ugh.. It will happen though on episode luna...
The game also had a downgrade on graphics, and some changes in altissia which was a bummer for me,. It looked great in 2014 with noctis walk on lestallum. It was more livable, the colors were brighter and richer but now they look washed out. The game definitely had one of the best graphics for an open world game back then.
I'm still looking to see what they are gonna do with the other episodes. Read something about ardyn which maked me interested in playing it, mostly for the old setting, and the place we are gonna play. I also hope that they make luna's character justice. She was non existent in the game and she was the main heroine. Iris, cindy, aranea and gentiana got more screentime than her. I have my doubts because i'm afraid that she's gonna talk only about noctis, and that will be exhausting and unhealthy and this comes from a noctluna shipper. I want to see more sides of her. I don't have a problem with her loving him but it's kinda strange that they fell in love when they were kids. I would preffer if their relationship started at altissia when we get to meet her, which maked me angry when it was cut. Also the notebook needed to be scrapped, take a freaking phone. She could have hide it somewhere and talk secretly without noticing her. And i wanted so much for them to meet and fight together, how much epic that would've been..
I liked some of the scenes though like the one with luna in the sylleblossom field (she didn't need to die there but oh well) and the ending. I think they were very well executed. The rest of the game not so much.
I want to see some development on regis even if they are flashbacks. He was one of the most important characters along with the bros and luna. The 4 of them were fleshed out, but him and luna not at all. People don't know who she is and it's just meh. but that's to be expected. If regis wasn't the father of noctis they might not remembered him too. And they constantly said that the bonds were the most important thing/main theme in the game.
Anyway, i'm done with my late long ranting. I will wait for the other dlc's to come out and see how it's gonna be as the end result. Wish these things were in the game and not pay for them. It's gonna cost me 50 euros which is a lot for a game that is out on the market for 2.5 years. I'll wait for a little price drop and pick it up.
Edit: Shimomura did a great job and I can't wait to hear the rest of the songs.

Er, I've never played Final Fantasy. would it be totally alien to someone who likes BioWare, Bethesda, some Ubisoft content? I would say JRPGs in general are their own very specific thing. VERY different from western games. You either love or hate them. I grew up on JRPGs on the PS2. At the time it felt to me that 99% of all games were made in Japan. So their particular storytelling was normal to me. FF8 was the first RPG I ever played (unless you count Ocarina of Time). And I was obsessed with it. Mass Effect was actually my first western RPG when I was in college. It came out at the perfect moment when I had already become completely estranged from JRPGs. I felt way too told for most of them. I couldn't relate to the teenage protagonists anymore. It wasn't my type of game anymore in general. I was kind of heart-broken about it. Bioware was a revelation. Imo Final Fantasy is shockingly different from Bioware or Bethesda in many ways. Doesn't mean one cannot enjoy both. I did play FF13 and enjoyed it for the most part. Lightning had Liara's voice, after all. I still follow news on the Final Fantasy series and am mildly curious about 15. Might even play it when it's cheap. So my answer to you is: maybe. Ff13 got a lot of hate for almost everything but I found some cutscenes quite entertaining. It was my first ff and I was with my mouth open when I saw the cgi. Don't care what others say, but lightning was baddass and awesome 😎

Don't care what others say, but lightning was baddass and awesome 😎 Fascinating how this is how everyone, no matter which title in the series they start with, reacts. I was blown away by the cutscenes in FF8! I basically just wanted more cutscenes. They were fairly rare back then so whenever one triggered, I got super excited. Oh man, that was half a lifetime ago...

That's awesome artwork.
Taking a bit of a hiatus from FFXV until more non multiplayer content is released. I completed the game twice, and did nearly everything but half the chocobo races and Pitioss. The game badly needs a hard mode and/or a enemy rank up mechanic. I don't like weakening myself for the ai as I find it cheesy. Omega was fun stuff though.
