I really liked MEA's feeling of woosh. Wooshing is good. Importing that to DA4 does have some issues, the most immediate would obviously be that Thedosians don't have jetpacks. Easily solveable by just saying you're wearing the blood magic amulet of superior movement or whatever. Another one would be whether it'd fit tonally because running around the rooftops of Minrathous like some blood-powered Batman would be... hmm, actually nevermind that might be, as the kids say, lit. Another issue might be party control but meh? They already teleport to you if you run too far ahead I don't see why something similar couldn't work here.
So anyway, wanna see something like MEAs movement in DA4 or would you like something [literally] more grounded?

Even if you wore the amulet of superior wooshes[1] everybody else would be woosh deprived and so you would be practically a God. That can be fun to play but not exactly challenging (see Dynasty Warriors) and so you'd have a balance issue.
Also worldbuilding tends to encourage action set in the past to be slower and non wooshy. That being said it might be possible to alter the sounds a horse makes to be more woosh-like instead of cloppy, so it might be possibly to get your woosh fix that way.
[1] The Amulet of inferior wooshes has subpar sound effects

I LOVE this idea. Call it blood magicky flights of fancy or whatever but seriously need to be jumping on rooftops!! If biotics can make them fly around, I think magic should work the same way. I don't really see it happening, but maybe if nothing else, let them at least be able to jump high enough to reach the top shelf. I love playing DAI but the jumping ability in that game can be so frustrating, especially when you put over half of the collectibles just out of reach for even a 7ft Qunari...

*already uses no cooldowns/infinite stamina & mana cheat and spams rogue's shadowstep to travel across the map, or warrior's charging bull (with light on your feet upgrade), or mage's fade step and ring of doubt + faster movement speed while in stealth + spamming search while in combat so that you stay in combat and stealthed* if it's another open world game, good mobility is required. DA:I was a goddamn slog.

Once I discovered the no cooldown for fade step mod, I was a happy camper zipping all over the large maps. That game really could have benefited from a real sprint option.

Being the codgy practical sort, I feel that kind of movement would only be possible and explainable if the Veil really drops, releasing the full power / strength and horrors of the magic that had been bottled up. Otherwise, I do not see why anyone would be doing any "jetpacking" in the World of Thedas. I'd expect the magisters to perhaps have other kinds of transiting / transporting spells no one has seen outside of Tewinter. Since Dorian has no knowledge of such spells in DAI, they could be a recent discovery when DA4 comes in. I would expect rogues in other regions to have unique items that help them to transit / climb faster. I'd like better combat movements though if they keep to the TP gameplay and not tie something as basic as dodge to the skill tree. It's primeval.

I liked the wooshy Fade-step. That's about it. I don't want to see mages boinging around rooftops like vampires.

Wouldn't mind mages getting a sorta blink ability i guess maybe something similar to what we see the qunari mages do since thats already there an would love warriors to get like a leap slam ability

It would be nice if mages got a hovering ability similar to the jet pack in midair to keep from being hit while auto attacking and launching spells but it would slowly consume mana. Once out of mana, it would automatically disable. Possibly have enhancement talents for it like decreased intial mana use when used or decreased mana usage after launching the ability. Hmmm.

Bethesda took levitation out of Elder Scrolls because it was OP. It also takes some of the strategy out of the game -> positioning becomes less important when crouching behind things suddenly becomes useless.EDIT: Confused this with Mass Effect for a second

It would be OP if it was unlimited like jet packs in MEA. People would have to decide when it's worth the mana. If you are facing mages or archers, it would not be beneficial but melee attacks would not be able to attack your hitbox. Before it deactivates, you could "fade step"/blink in a direction otherwise you'd fall into the attackers unless the AI decides to attack someone they can actually hit. I'm not sure it could be implemented but it sounds cool.

I like the "wooosh" but my hope(pipe dream?) is mounts for real, for all. I enjoyed the mounts for their looks and speed of A to B but it wouldn't let banter occur so I forced myself to walk most of time. Shame, really. ..though it was my fault.

I like the "wooosh" but my hope(pipe dream?) is mounts for real, for all. yeah the whoosh is good but they'd need to find away to explain it. Especially as they've already said in codex entries that even mages can't move around that quick. I admit we d ohave the fade step spell but that's as good as it gets. I just don't see them doing it. In MEA it makes sense what with the jetpacks and biotics given that biotics are kind of an anti gravity thing as has been shown ever since the trilogy. It's one of the main reasons why you see people like Liara and Samara be able to jump out of windows and land safely. We never see anything like that in DA simply because it's not possible. My guess is if they do it they'd have to connect the ability to the fade somehow but I' m not sure how though.

We had ladders in dai and trellis so not sure why roof climbing couldn’t be an option. Same with a mini levitate or grappling hook. The bunny hop/climbing in say the storm coast was lame at times. Wouldn’t mind some of the jump down/climb movements from witcher 3
