The Blanketfort (crying and throwing up) - The Official Solas Thread [Spoilers]

BSN Forums' twitter account has a poll at the moment. Right now it's 60-40 people who want to save Solas vs. people who want to kill him. That pleases me somehow.

SO THAT TEASER, HUH?

I find the teaser image interesting. Is he the dread wolf breaking through the circle, or is he the elf guy holding up a hand and... defending something? Both?

Anthem is taking all the steam from BioWare, from the sound of it, so I wonder how/when we'll see the next DA game. It can't be too long if we have teasers... right? Though I won't lie, I'm nervous what the outcome will be.

Definitely think the Dread Wolf Rises is not just relating to him becoming more prominent in Thedas again but the alter ego of Solas starting to take over as he focuses on his end goal to the exclusion of everything and everyone else.

Right back in DA2 I thought the red lyrium idol reminded me of Flemeth, so now I'm convinced it was an idol of Mythal made by the dwarves who worshipped her. We know from Trespasser how Mythal, Solas, dwarves and lyrium are all connected and Solas knew exactly why there was red lyrium at the site of the Conclave explosion, it is just that no one paid much attention to his comment in the background when Cassandra and Varric were discussing it.

Now they have definitely linked the red lyrium idol to the Dread Wolf. So everything is coming together from the previous games. Great isn't it?

Here's an interesting little theory - what if the idol isn't crafted? What if it's something more complex and a bit more sinister?

Honestly? Given how idol looks like skeletal Mythal and she appears like she's ascending but is held back in place by other skeletal figures, as if trying to prevent or preventing her escape? There's one thing that comes to mind.

Prison.

In light of that new mural, this little snippet of conversation just got a lot more interesting:


Inquisitor: And calling the army of demons. That’s my favorite part.
Solas: The demons are nothing. They’re a tool.
Inquisitor: A tool that would have let Corypheus ride roughshod over most of Orlais.
Solas:Even if they hadn’t, the entire idea is wrong.
Solas: The Blight is not something one smugly outsmarts.
Solas: Forgive me. The entire idea is… unnerving.

Inquisitor: I wouldn’t mind never having another Blight. Corypheus interfering is the real problem.
Solas: The Blight is the real problem.
Inquisitor: And the Wardens are trying to end the Blight forever.
Solas: That’s not the point. Even if they could succeed, the entire idea is wrong.

Solas:Are you pleased to have the Grey Wardens on your side? Do you wish you could join their proud little cult?
Solas: How long, do you think, before their next attempt to control something beyond their comprehension?
Inquisitor: The Wardens deserved a chance to redeem themselves.
Solas: Their only purpose is to protect the world from something they do not understand, something that corrupts them!<---This line, tho.

Remember my post about Solas possibly being the first Grey Warden?

So is the Dread Wolf half of Solas holding back all the corruption that tainted the Black City? Remember the sun in the making of the Veil mural? The blackened peacock feathers around it that represent pride? I'm screaming. "Cut off his leg to escape the trap" Cole said. Even if you try to kill him, the Blight-seething rest of him is in the Fade. Maybe to stop the Blights permanently we have to either kill or cure him.

I would just like to say that my first reaction immediately after watching the DA4 teaser was... *MUST RUN TO BLANKETFORT 2.0*

The whole teaser was about the Dread Wolf, so it's not surprising - plus, Solas has multiple images (his murals or tarot cards) in which he is portrayed together with his wolf persona on the side.
