Ok I just read, that depending on what you or the Inqui chooses, Varric can die? Would someone be so kind to spoil the endings for me? If there is a better place to ask the question, kindly direct me there. I just read here, that this might be linked to Solas? Nevermind, I found it out and now ( don't read, if you don't want to get spoiled, this is severe) I hate Solas with burning passion. I was neutral towards him before, but killing my favourite character and lying about it makes him instantly the worst in my book

Regarding Solas and Lavellan ending It's the execution I can't get behind, not that the only option for a happy ending is to join him in exile.
- How they mistranslated elven. She says "Banal nadas ar lath ma vhenan". Every word has appeared in the past games. Yet stead of "Nothing is inevitable, I love you my heart" they went with "There is no fate but the love we share". Which is worse. so much worse! As if she programs him that they must be together. And it's after learning the context of how Mythal exploited him and his affection for her. How he regrets not being able to deny her ("You will not be the first to sacrifice your morals for love"). Why on earth they kept it?
- He just seems resigned. He should have voiced his consent. His body language should have been different: he let her kiss him. Didn't even touch her as they disappeared to the Fade. This execution give me somewhat abusive/manipulative angle? Which is so not how their relationship went in DAI. If that is the angle Weekes went, with having Lavelan as an echo of Mythal and a chance for Solas to craft another narrative, then fuck it.

If that is the angle Weekes went, with having Lavelan as an echo of Mythal and a chance for Solas to craft another narrative, then fuck it. I suppose that is a possibility. After all, the one thing you can't do is kill him. On the willingly sacrifices himself without Lavellan being there ending, he says something about protecting the innocent in the future (I think). So, given the "secret" ending teases the Executors as the antagonists next game and he warned against them in Tevinter Nights, it is possible that he could speak to the next protagonist from the Fade to assist them. He'd probably do that however things ended with Rook because if Solas doesn't like someone he feels compelled to act against them. May be he is now the replacement Varric in the franchise. Incidentally, did anyone in world suggest that perhaps he was the "Maker" who spoke to Andraste? I know they commented how she got it wrong but that was about it really when it came to the main religion of Thedas. Since they pretty much admitted the Maker doesn't exist, Solas does make the ideal candidate for the one who spoke with Andraste, the other being one of Mythal's pieces. Obviously they would appear to have had different motives for wanting to attack the Imperium but I do not doubt that both wanted her to conquer Minrathous.

I'm confused about one thing regarding the multiple endings: How is it that Rook going into the Fade with Solas is self-sacrifice, but Lavellan doing the same is "not so bad" and a happy ending?
