There's also one thing I think people may have to keep in mind if they think that some of the scenes may be too short: elves of old found (retained, as former spirits) ways to communicate telepathically, sending thoughts and feelings almost instantaneously, and can perform some sort of aura reading that can shed more light about nature or state of a person they interact with (Flemeth telling Lavellan in DAI that shes 'bright and vibrant', and Solas telling her in Crestwood scene that her spirit is rare and marvelous) We saw that telepathy happen between Morrigan and Flemeth in DAI (as she transfers knowledge of how to turn into a dragon), we saw the transfer demonstrated to Rook by Morrigan AND we now know that when Solas comes after Flemeth the short exchange they've had is not all there was, as the dialogue accompanying mural with Solas' regret about killing Flemythal is much longer than in DAI post-credit scene.
We also know from both the possession attempt by Envy in DAI, and Rook's venture into Lucanis' mind with Spite, that things in mind/Fade that last a long time may take a few moments in the mortal realm. Given the above, and given that Lavellan is an elf, she went through a lot of magical hijinks over years and probably has experience reaching to Solas through dreams that connected them, I really wouldn't be surprised if they've developed a link between them that is imperceptible to external onlookers but informs them both about the depth of their feelings to one another, or even allows them to have involved telepathic discussions - so, for all we know, they may have argued for 20 Fade hours in their mind, while to Rook it looked like they've held hands and shared a kiss It's of course just a fun speculation, I don't necessarily think it's what must've happened for their scenes to work as they are - but it's, IMO, a distinct possibility that there's more to their exchanges than what we saw.

OMG that little smile after the kiss, tho! THAT is what we needed to see in the game. It would have helped so much!

The more I think of the last scene, the more I like it I till keen on believing execution could have been better, but Tweekes n bluesky and brilliant people with flycam helped. For instance, it's a crime game doesn snow this angle of Solas. It's after Lavellan kisses him. Literally would have spared me any worry I felt about him being reluctant. Also more info from Weekes. Lavellan, the woman that you are I know we laughed at you for being the worst dalish First in history, but you are, in fact, the very best. Vellana could never How the hell is she going to survive? That's what I'm confused about with this. Is there going to be a food supply? Probably won't have to worry about demons getting to her, but still. She's going to have to learn to sustain herself on the fade real quick.

She's going to have to learn to sustain herself on the fade real quick. IMO, if Solas had reservations about her survival in the Fade, or wherever they'll be together, he'd never risk taking her with him - but also, it seems that places like regret prison are places where physical sustenance either ain't a problem, or less of a problem, because there is moment in the game where Rook is sent physically to regret prison, and it is implied in dialogue and banter with companions that they were there for at least several days, yet we don't see Rook either drinking or eating, or complaining at being thirsty/hungry
Also, since we know that Fade sustenance is a thing and Solas must surely be an individual that knows how to sustain himself on the Fade (in fact, I wonder if it's what makes ancient elves immortal), I don't see why he wouldn't share the secret with Lavellan, and - given all the magical stuff she's dealt with - that she wouldn't learn fast.

Yeah, I assume the food thing won't be too big an issue.
As for the immortality thing, I think we've been given an answer.
We know for a fact now that the Evanuris (and Solas himself) are just spirits housed in lyrium bodies. And we know spirits are eternal, provided they're not somehow destroyed.
But I also think ALL elves are like that. Even modern ones. Consider what Cole said about elven inky: "Pulled (spirit pulled from the fade), blood that is not blood (because lyrium), a tiny trace of time. Lips struggling to shape language your parents lived."
Kieran also says things: "Your blood is very old (because lyrium). I saw it right away."
And: "I just don't know why your people want to look like that." Presumably, the Evanuris chose the general elf shape, and everyone else just followed suit, I guess?
Then there's the Claws of Dumat text: Master - now Corypheus - told me that my people, the elves of old, were tied to the Fade (because they're spirits), and that in order to carry out the will of Dumat, he would need to call upon the magic that lives in our blood (lyrium again).
This would also explain why any time an elf has a child with any other race, that child is ALWAYS entirely the other race. Because elf bodies aren't really...real, for lack of a better word. They're just highly detailed, fully functioning lyrium constructs.
That's what I'm getting from all this. Interesting to think about, anyway. The only thing I can't figure is how exactly the fade took away immortality. The mechanics of it elude me.

gervaise21 It seems we have the answer to that dialogue between Solas and Blackwall, regarding the idea that killing the archdemons is an effective way to end blights. If you kill them all, the elven gods die with them and that means the Veil will be destroyed as well, which would ultimately release the Blight on a larger scale. My question is... do you believe this was planned all along or do you think the writers just recently came up with this because it would be convenient for DAV? I mean based on what you know from previous games. For instance, it might be weird that the Old God associated with Elgar'nan is Lusacan and not Dumat, the most powerful of them all.

I'm still in Act 1, and have just met my Lavellan. Does anyone else struggle with the Inquisitor's appearance in DAV? I restarted my first PT after 25 hours after seeing that I messed up her appearance, and the second time she still looks bad.
I don't have it in me to restart again. I think. But I don't want to continue with my Lavellan looking like a complete stranger. How did you go with your Inquisitors?

I was happily able to get close enough to not feel like I was looking at a stranger. I can feel for those who are having issues, though. Have you tried making your Inky in the Rook CC, only using options available in the Inky section? That way you can see your work first thing in the game.

I just went with key elements of my main Lavellan, darker skin tone, nose shape as close as I could make it and the eye colour which was probably the most important thing to me, she's not perfect and she looks a little more asian than I'd like but she didn't look like a stranger to me, just a little bit different. I was also worried about that. I'll create another Rook and have another bash at her again, I think I'll keep refining this one until I start another pt. My download finished so late and I just wanted to get into the game after 2 hrs in cc.

Don't know if anyone else found this interesting but Solas mentions the fate of June He says he is dead but not how. However, he also says that it was June who created the eluvians. I think that pretty much confirms that Urthemiel was June because when Morrigan discovers Kieran used the eluvian she is surprised because it would require so much power to change its destination. Now it is possible that Urthemiel would have given him the requisite power but it may simply be because as the creator of the eluvians June would have known how to control them. Then when Flemeth absorbs the Old God soul, presumably it merged with her own, effectively "killing" him as a separate entity. Then since she put Mythal's memories into the eluvian at the end of DAI, she probably put June's memories as well. However, perhaps she didn't and at least in that world state the reason Solas regained control of the eluvians from Briala was because of June. (Which is why he couldn't do it sooner).
Otherwise, June was simply destroyed along with Urthemiel in the ultimate sacrifice. I assume that was the case with the other gods too.

Otherwise, June was simply destroyed along with Urthemiel in the ultimate sacrifice. I assume that was the case with the other gods too. But while June created eluvians, it was Solas who's found a way to redirect them - we can find a text or two that talk about that in Veilguard: that originally, each eluvian led only to an eluvian that had another half of lyrium stone that's bonded them into a pair, but Solas (apparently a brilliant inventor himself; which is likely why Mythal pulled him out of the Fade and how he's made a dagger that can sunder Titans and kill god-like beings) is the one who made it possible for eluvians to lead to basically any eluvian, which is also how rebellion forces managed to operate and evade Evanuris. IMO "the immense power" who helped was Mythal, who'd be powerful enough and must've known Solas' trick.
Anyway, unless we find out that Flemtyhal did more than sending a wisp of her consciousness to Morrigan prior to Solas killing her (which is a distinct possibility), I think ultimately what was left after Uthremiel was the sort of de-personalized power that later Solas took from Flemythal - we know that he didn't absorb her; he took the god-like power that she's accumulated, while she's sent her memories to Morrigan.
Also, yes - given that we can find a codex in which Ghilan'nain writes to Elgar'nan that June is dead, it's very likely that darkspawn finding a specific god's dragon has effectively pulled their entire essence out of their prison, which is how they escaped it, and also how they ultimately died.

That's what I've done - made a Lavellan instead of Rook and refined her until I got what I wanted after several passes in Lighthouse mirror. Then it's just a matter of recording variables and transferring them to Inky.

Hello, I would like to ask some of you who have already completed the game a few things regarding spoilers. I am currently stuck in the Character Creator, so I have not started the actual game yet, but I have spoiled myself a bit in trying to solve my 'dilemma'. I already know that the 'romance ending' is to go with Solas to the Fade / Void. I do not know the details (because I do not want to spoil it futher for myself) but it reminds me of what I 'predicted' when developing my own head-canon, so I am sure I want to go this route.
However, my question is: does the 'redeem Solas or stop Solas' choice that comes from the Trespasser DLC matter when it comes to getting this ending, or does it make any difference in how she words / expresses herself in regards to Solas?
The thing is, my character is quite stoic and pragmatic, and I decided to take a more 'rival' approach to this romance, so declaring to stop him in Trespasser fits my character better. However, ultimately, given the opportunity to save him, she will definitely choose to do so.

However, ultimately, given the opportunity to save him, she will definitely choose to do so. Well, we do have an option to pick whether we commit to redeeming or stopping Solas at all costs in Veilguard, and while I didn't yet play DAVe with Inquisitor who vowed to stop Solas at all costs, there are several things to be done to unlock that ending, and I think sticking to a desire to redeem Solas by Inky is one.
Basically, at the end of the story, we have to through certain steps, do certain things a certain way and complete a small team from Solas past and present, which manages to convince the Dread Wolf to step away from destructive route - that team includes a friendly/romanced Inquisitor that wants to redeem him.

Gotta say.... Bioware really handed us the happiest ending they could think of, given the circumstances On one hand Lavellan has to leave the world to be with her love, move to regret prison for an unknowable length of time, and commit to trying to soothe the blight, but according to what Patrick Weekes said, the prison wouldn't be terrible LITERALLY, not just metaphorically (I mean, it makes sense - it is still the Fade and the prison is Solas' construct), so um... one small cottage house with white picket fence incoming?

It's more than I ever expected & one of the few redeeming qualities of Veilguard writing for me I actually enjoy Veilguard and its writing - I don't consider it straying away from what we've had in the franchise since DAO. And I've seen my share of criticism of its writing and aside from some criticism I could get behind (or at least understand where it's coming from), aside from "writing bad!" by haters and ragebaiters, or traditional "this chapter is not Dragon Age'y enough!" we've had since DA2, a lot of it seems to be deriving from unfulfilled expectations (it's been 10 years, it's understandable to a degree), but also some people investing a bit too much in how they expected the events to unfold (I'm actually quite pleased with myself, because on one hand I've restrained myself from taking theorycrafting too far prior to release, and at the same time I've managed to guess where things were heading and how they resolved pretty darn well - 80-90% in some major instances) There's also an insane amount of "retcon!" thrown around, when - under closer inspection - it's either people missing what was established in the story, misunderstanding, or - again - having certain expectations to how this overarching story resolves itself, even if it IMO went against what was established (or not established) in all previous material... Some people really wanted to tear down that Veil , even though Solas himself had doubts so serious about it, he's left a wide opening for Inky to chase him down and find ways to persuade him away. Either way, as it is with previous Dragon Ages, we will be discussing through things and reevaluating them in oncoming years, especially as the title solidifies - wikis are filled, clips and screenshots taken, and the game is replayed many times. I've already found some new things and interesting tidbits in the 2nd playthrough I'm now doing.

I only came to say I used an Inquisitor that romanced Solas and that ending had me ugly crying in my chair for 30 minutes. My face and keyboard were soaked from tears. Man, what a good ending.

I just finished the game and I have to say I love this character more than ever now. Because, and I mean this with all my heart.. What an absolute piece of shit this man is. What an absolute scumbag. Worst of the worst. I'm not sure you deserve the happy ending I just gave you, you total and utter bastard. My Rook's face here says it all. And I love it so so much. People out there complaining that everyone in this game is too nice like Solas isn't right there. His relationship with Rook was just *chefs kiss* and as someone who loves this guy so much I never played as an inquisitor who wasn't either kissing him or befriending him - it was really quite fun to play as a Rook who just thought he was an asshole in the face of people who kept defending him. From their constant sniping at the start and Solas being a sassy lil bitch about it. I was really vibing with their dynamic - especially as it felt like the rest of the team didn't care that much about Rook, but here was Solas supposedly giving a damn. Luring me in again with his lies so Rook started to get less arsey with him and actually started to occasionally compliment the guy. Getting to drop this on him later was therapeutic. Cos it's true. I am people. I was surprised at those that came out to defend him (was it because I picked a redeem world state?) Poor Harding (RIP) defending him, saying that because the Inquisitor felt he could be saved that she wanted to try as well (I felt really guilty hearing her say that, especially now in hindsight after Varric), Varric's ghost or whatever that was in the prison, having been murdered by him, still being like 'he is a good dude really, just needs a friend' and what? Varric, pls. He killed you, then used blood magic to convince Rook you were still alive before shutting her in that damn prison, he's not a good guy. He's a bad guy my dude. My Inquisitor of course saying she would be happy to be back with him. Then even Emmrich gave a speech saying this: My Rook was not the forgiving type. She was not my Lavellan. Lavellan is a good, kind woman (who I did a real dirty in the CC. Girl I am so sorry for the butt chin and the lighting that made your face green for the final scenes ) who always saw the best in people and remained diplomatic at all times. Rook was always meant to be her opposite in that she was more rogue and quite frankly, such a weirdo. But she put aside her feelings of drop kicking him in the face, as the two exes of Solas talked him down. She gave clearer heads the chance to say their peace. Then when he broke down crying I must admit - that hit. It helps that Gareth David-Lloyd is so good (like damn he really outshines everyone in this game - although I got a lotta love for my Northern lass). But wow, I'd been cussing him out so bad throughout Act 3 and then suddenly I was getting misty eyed. The whiplash. I folded like paper. I hate him but damn do I love him. That final scene with them together? I am not too sure of the fate I sent my Inquisitor on but I think I am ok with it. Also, as someone who doesn't love the art style (I think it took be 40 hours to finally get used to it - i really liked how Solas looked in this end scene - not the bloody and bruised (DESERVED) but his whole animation was great. Like when he was clutching the dagger as Mythal talked to him. His crying. Just everything. Yeah, really nice. I am a little sad that the non romancers get so little. My male lavellan was a close friend to Solas - and I've watched the ending with a dude and they are just sorta there. I'll forever be bitter that Varric took up the role he did with he claims of friendship when I just don't believe him on that. It should have been the Inquisitor but I also appreciate why it wasn't the inquisitor. I'll just headcanon that Tristan has more to say when I get there with him, and hope to god I do a better job in that CC with him. But yes, my love for this character has changed a lot since Inquisition. It's not a bad thing at all. I am not mad. Which in the current DA climate? Well that's pretty good indeed.

Solas never does anything by half, that's for sure. No matter what role he plays. From the kind and gentle lover, to the unrelenting jackass, to the beaten and broken wretch, he excels at all of it.

Hmmmm.... okay, time to focus on some story tidbits surrounding Inky in relation to Solas. First - it does seem like Morrigan and Inquisitor are buddies in Veilguard; with Morrigan advising Inky, and Inky knowing this older, wiser Morrigan well enough to trust her advice. Anyway, given their experience in DAI and current friendly relationship, Inky has to know about Mythal's memories and - given that we also know that Morrigan knows about content of Solas' regrets - they're also probably privy to its contents. Never mind that they stumble upon the first piece of his memory somehow - the one that triggers being able to view all the others. And Morrigan tells Rook that only Inquisitor could bring that memory figurine to them, which... hmmmm. I HAVE to wonder how Inquisitor stumbled on that. Did they just recover it from Venatori/Antaam that managed it to snatch from parts of Crossroads we didn't see? Did they themselves explored that part of Crossroads? ...Or did Inky just got woken up by the figurine falling on their head one night?
