Vhenan, I don't know if you'll ever see these words. I have prepared everything for my ritual and will complete it shortly. By the time you read this, perhaps the world will be back to the way it once was and you will see why everything I did was necessary. I can't expect you to forgive me, but I hope you will understand at some point.

You don't know how much I struggled with myself back then. How close I was to telling you the truth or even abandoning my plans and simply staying by your side as Solas... just the way I wanted.

And once again, I have chosen a favorite that "puts me in my place" for enjoying them. Oh well, you would think I would be use to this by now. Ha!

But apparently, Lavellan dooms herself by departing from the world with Solas and into a dark dimension or something equally ominous.

It makes me consider loading my last DAI file and make my Inquisitor choose not to redeem him in Trespasser's ending.

Also, how are you dealing with the Varric issue? How can one rationalize Lavellan brushing that off?

Firstly, you need to remember that it doesn't matter what you do in Trespasser really, considering the Keep was dumped. So you can swear your undying love for him there and then change it in the CC for Veilguard.   I couldn't quite make up my mind which of my two canon Lavellans I would have used had I bought the game: Atisha Lavellan who still loved him, or Enavir Lavellan who thought they were friends and felt utterly betrayed so swore to stop him at any costs.

However, even if Enavir had wanted to "redeem" him the actual words used were "I'm going to prove you wrong" and essentially you can do that.  So long as you aren't romancing him I assume that gives the ending where Solas agrees that dropping the Veil would be wrong and sacrifices himself to keep it in place.  By contrast, if I'd gone with my original ending for Enavir, then presumably that one ends with Solas still the trickster to the end that gets outwitted by Rook, a mere mortal.  Either way I would be happy.

As for Atisha, I did think she was a hopeless case if she was still willing to love him after everything he had done.   If she still felt the same at the end of Veilguard, after Solas had once again betrayed so many people along the way, I feel that if she wanted to head off into the Void with him, she kinda deserved it.  Of course, some people will see it as romantic and the end of a tragic love story, imagining their fate might really not be so bad. 

So, I assume everyone will be happy except people who will feel cheated at not being able to kill him.  I suppose a lot depends on what level of consciousness there is in the Void but assuming he can still remember, wouldn't an eternity of knowing he was outwitted be so much worse?
