Two questions. 1. Do you find Solas physically attractive? Yeah? I have no real opinion on baldness - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't - but he's got them sleepy blue eyes and a jawline that could cut glass. Plus a very straight nose that gets all scrunchy when he's mad and that's adorable. Sometimes the in-game lighting or camera angles are terribly unflattering, though. I do remember, way back before Inquisition came out, that I thought all the male LIs were fairly unattractive, with only Cullen being halfway decent (And only halfway.) Guess I've come around over the years, though. Even Blackwall wouldn't be so bad if he didn't have a mop attached to his face. Also, tbh, finding someone attractive comes down to finding something in them to be attracted to. Most people have something, if you look for it. The mod that replaces his beard with just some scruff (idea being that's what he'd look like if he wasn't faking a new identity) does make Blackwall look kind of like Richard Armitage. So, not bad. Re: Do you find Solas physically attractive? Yes. Its mostly the voice, though. I was *not* overly impressed with him and his silly looking pajamas in the pre-release stuff, believe me. In fact, those pants still look ridiculous to me. I can't place why. Just glad they added the tunic flaps. lol

To be honest, I'm kind of frightened of how his appearance might change in the next game. I'm assuming they have updated their graphics, but that usually means there will be changes in models.

I'm hoping, since they're not changing engines, it won't be much of a change. And if it is a change, it'll be more towards MEA's direction as far as skin textures etc. Still shots of the plethora of not-awful animations in MEA actually look very good, imo.
I mean, I know DAO and DA2 were the same engine and we all saw what THAT resulted in... but I still think that's cus of DA2's short dev cycle. I mean, the DA2 LIs came out looking really good. I take that as evidence it was a matter of time, and priorities on how to spend the time, that resulted in Alistair and Zev looking... as they did. And then going to a new engine and entirely remaking the assets as a result explains Alistair in DAI (which I didn't think was nearly as bad as the DAO to DA2 switch, anyway.) The devs are gonna get plenty of time for DA4 and Solas will get plenty of attention since he's a main character in the plot. I think it'll be fine.

I don't think the model will change much - more than likely the style of DAI will be the style of the series for a while. But they'll likely refine everything to the tiniest detail. With that said, even little tweaks to the model may change things - I still can't get over how little is needed to (IMO) improve Solas's face. Also... keep in mind that even external things, like better lighting, shaders and especially facial animations will have an effect on models and faces anyway. Just compare animations in DAI cinematic cutscenes to what we see in Anthem. If they put the same effort into DA4 then even familiar faces will look different (even if they technically aren't that far from what we got before). I can't say I'd complain if it happens though. They did a decent job with what they had when working on DAI, but if there's one region they can always improve, it's both facial and body animations.

I remember way back in the mists of time before release, the Solas thread was pretty much in agreement that he looked like Voldemort but he was a nerd and a bit of an introvert (INTP anyone? Remember that conversation?), plus no one wanted to romance Cullen, then it happened, we got to know him, he broke our hearts, we found out he was the trickster god of our nightmares, but he was SO sad about it, he still cared, then we got obsessed and the rest is history really. So to answer that question, at first no..just like at first he didn't see me as a person, I didn't see him as attractive, but he changed all that..
Now I think he's beautiful...

Two questions. 1. Do you find Solas physically attractive? 2. What the hell did he want during the Well of Sorrows quest? He clearly was against Morrigan drinking since she seemed greedy but also got mad when the Inquisitor did. 1. Definitely. But as some people pointed out, his attractiveness is hugely influenced by his personality and mannerism. If I disregard it, and look at him through the eyes of stranger- he is average looking, my first impression upon seeing him in promo files were like this. but if you inspect him closer, that man has really attractive features- he has really nice jawline. His face is manly and his facial expression can change his whole look. He has broad shoulders, strong looking arms, nice posture. I am not into baldness, but I don't mind it. So, overall- objective speaking he is 6-7. But from Solasmancer perspective he is hard 10 I personally think his plain-at-the-first-glance appearance was quite deliberate. He seems average unless you bother to look closely and find out how much more he actually is. 2. I believe Weekes on twitter admitted that he forgot to write more lines for Solas in this interaction. He was supposed to say more. I actually asked him not long ago if he could share with us what solas was meant to say, but he replied that it still may turned out to bee spoilery for next game. Also fun fuct- he gets mad at you only if you either his lover or friend. With Inquisitor on low approval he is kinda smug and gleeful about him drinking from the game Which makes me believe that drinking from it is generally bad idea/

Hopefully it doesn't bite her in the ass too badly.

Hopefully it doesn't bite her in the ass too badly. Haha, I agree! It's a shame we never hear how Solas would beg, as he put it himself, Lavellan. But maybe we will be lucky to see it in next game. I'm not saying about begging specifically, but i'd love to see some deeply emotional scene between two, cause he often acts stoic and distanced, even from romanced Inquisitor. As for me- I was lucky to have Cole with me, who warned me about the Well, and later scene with Morigan and Flemeth only made me more sure about declining the power of the well. What I find interesting about the Well is how Solas will act with person who drank from it. I can see how he would have no problem with controlling Morrigan or Inquisitor on low approval. But if it concerns his friend and especially lover, it juts adds more moral dilemma and angst to Solas, considering how pro freedom he is.

But he never does. So she always drinks. Hopefully it doesn't bite her in the ass too badly. To be fair, it might be the reason why they've decided not to include such a strong voice against the idea of drinking from the well. Like 'uh, why is our chief Fade expert protesting so much...?'

1. Not at first apart from the fact he is an elf (I'll admit to being racist when it comes to romances - I romance an elf if I can). He didn't attract me physically like Fenris did. However, whilst I romanced Fenris despite his views on magic and mages and sometimes found him extremely unloveable in his attitudes, the opposite happened with Solas. The more I got to know him, the more I liked him. So I was very much attracted to him as a person rather than just because he was pretty to look at. So many of his views seemed to chime with my own. Which is why his rejection and the subsequent revelations hit me so hard because it seemed like everything I had believed about him was untrue.
2. I was puzzled the first time I played. He didn't want Morrigan to drink, didn't want me to drink and didn't want to drink himself, yet someone had to drink. Given his strong objections to Morrigan that really did seem to point to the Inquisitor doing so. Luckily I had Cole with me who was less reticent about explaining exactly why it would be a bad idea to drink, so I followed his advice. Also I had taken the magical knowledge perk so what Cole said only really backed up my own assertions about the Geas.
I do find it amusing though that if you do drink, it is only when it is too late for you that he chooses to explain exactly why it was a mistake to have done so. Fair enough if he hates your guts but as a friend you do feel he should just have kept quite at this point if he hadn't wanted to explain before, because now it really doesn't help.

Abelas explains it - right there, before he departs/gets killed. It’s basically the same explanation Solas gives us later (‘you will be bound to the will of Mythal’), so Solas’s ain’t really saying anything that provides us with more information after ToM. It’s only when we learn that he’s Fen’Harel, was Mythal’s buddy and knows WTH Well of Sorrows is about that what he says gains weight in terms of importance.

Solas is a very dumb person on an emotional level. I mean he could've start over by finding a place for the elves to start over, and teach them not to repeat history. That way he can find his path of redemption and settle down with the elven Inquisitor. But it's like he refuse to learn from his mistakes, and continues with his plan that will bring more death and destruction which is a very stupid of him to do.
I don't understand how writers can be so incompetent with this.

That may all be true, but also consider that we don't have the full story of what is truly going on with Thedas, the Blight, or what Solas intends. Calling it writer's incompetence when we're waiting for the next installment is more than a little unfair to the writers.
Besides, not every story of redemption means everything is happiness and light and settling down with a loved one. Sometimes you have to go through fire to make things right, or at least, make things less bad. This doesn't look like it will shape up to be a fairy tale hero's story for anyone in the end.

I think it's way more complicated than just "Solas, why aren't you doing this thing that we think you should be doing?!". Unless any of us are millennia old elven gods that destroyed our entire race and culture by accident, which I'm pretty sure none of us are! I don't think we can really say how he should be acting. All we can do is have a guess which requires a bit of empathy, but even then we're bound to struggle. Jeez Patrick, I don't envy you writing him, but I'm damn glad that you did.

He seems to be a guy who got terribly betrayed by people close to him (he can literally state that he learned in the past that friends shouldn't be trusted ) and now he's in a position where he has to betray whatever friends he may have made when he was with Inquisition. It's certainly far from a healthy situation

Well, I mean... he fundamentally broke the world.
By creating the Veil, he unknowingly cost the Elves their immortality and most of their magic. The Empire collapsed and began to fracture, as the magic it was built on began to wane, while the loss of access to the Eluvians or the Fade meant that Elves were left stranded and cut off from each other. The Evanuris were gone, but in their place, they left a power vacuum and evidently, it seems that there was infighting among the survivors for power.
In the end, Solas destroyed the very people he was trying to save.
So he's left with no real option but to try to undo his mistake and tear down the Veil, in the hopes that he can restore the world to how it was before. When the Elves are finally restored, he can then start over, teach the Elves how to to rebuild their Empire while hopefully avoiding their past mistakes.
Why would Solas start over in the world as it is now?
From his perspective, magic and immortality are the defining qualities of what it is to be Elven. That's why he doesn't consider any "Elves" currently in Thedas to be his people, because they're nothing but shadows of what they should be. Aside from the Sentinels and other holdouts from before the fall, there aren't many of his people left for him to help rebuild.
Therefore the best option available for him is to tear down the Veil, as this is the only way he can help both his people and elevate the current Elves, by restoring their birthright to them.
