I generally didn't have Lavellan keep the vallaslin but I too think it was good to have a choice ... and I also wish they would add that as a tile in the Keep because that would mean it may actually have some bearing in future games.

I was just messing around.
I actually had it removed first, but decided to reload and keep it. Besides also thinking that she looked a bit odd after ~200 hours of gameplay with Vallaslin, I though it would fit her better to keep it and staying adamant about that the Dalish give it a new meaning.

No, she has the British one. 

I see it as Lavellan being more forward thinking, instead of being stuck in the past like Solas or other Dalish.

The age of the ancient elves is over and there is no need to imitate them.

I admit it ... I have like zero roleplay reasons for removing the vallaslin.  I just don't like the way they look in general.  At character creation I felt she should have them because she's Dalish but when I realised Solas was offering to get rid of them I was like, "Sweet!  Take 'em off!"  

I am a bad roleplayer.  

You may have guessed by Fentelban's armour in the screen capture I posted above that she is not a mage. She's a double daggers rogue. When I chose her vallaslin, I didn't know which ones were associated with which Creator, so my choice was based purely on aesthetics. I later learned that it is Sylaise's, and in retrospect, I couldn't have picked a better vallaslin for her. Although she had to be a hunter to fit into the DAI story for Dalish elf PCs, she pretty much always chose to try to resolve things via diplomacy rather than military action, which is pretty much what Sylaise's Vir Atishan is all about - healing and mending (relationships, in the case of diplomacy).

I kept my Vallasin because it felt wrong to my character to get rid of it. Also, her hair color intentionally matched it.

I've been hunting down much lore, between www.dumpeddrunkanddalish.com/ and various books I can get through the library (plus a little of paying for stuff - I'd pay for more but I'm unemployed). I'm also hunting some of the videos. It helps also, as does doing another runthrough of the full DA series!

I am one of those American blanketfort denizens and mostly I'm just annoyed by my neighbors continually setting off fireworks and firecrackers for days. (right now, even!)

Fun thought about vallaslin in the context of a modern AU setting;

Solas would be a history professor that rails against the cultural misappropriation of tribal markings without a clear understanding of their meaning (particularly using Ghilan'nain's vallaslin as a tramp-stamp), which is why he offers to perform free tattoo removal for anyone who requests it.

So, I don't know if any one here besides me plays Final Fantasy 14, but... the new Shadowbringers expansion made me feel like at least one of FF14's writers definitely played DAI. I'm not gonna mention anymore outside of spoiler tags cus I don't want to ruin things for anyone who might play it in the future, but its pretty good.
