I wouldn't assume that all Dalish had the same accent. They're all over Thedas and lore has them fairly isolated from one another. Their language and accents would evolve over time just as neighboring Ferelden and Orlais have. Unless Leliana believed she had spoken with members of his imaginary clan it shouldn't necessarily make her overly suspicious that he didn't speak the same as those she has. Except that Solas is clearly not Dalish and wouldn't claim to be so. He said he was from a small village - which Leliana did eventually check out only to discover it was an old ruin. I'm not sure how much elvish city elves would speak and Solas would have been considered closer to a city elf than Dalish. Some of the Dalish clans also gather together every few years, though I agree that each clan has likely developed their own dialects for elvish because of their separation.

I am only going by what is in the official source on this, WoT2. This says:
Leliana remembers that he spoke the elven language fluently. "I have heard elves in the alienage speak their few remembered words, and I have heard Dalish Keepers recite passages from texts passed down for generations", she said. "Solas spoke like neither of them. He spoke the language perfectly, with an accent I have never been able to place. I can only imagine where in the Fade he might have learned it."
I do wonder how Leliana would know whether what he spoke was "perfect" elven or not but clearly she had never encountered the accent before. You will note that she attributed this to having learned it in the Fade, so apparently was convinced but his convenient excuse for every anomaly in his story with what people had understood previously. May be she did query the difference with him and that is the answer he gave.
This was, of course, before we discovered who he really was in Trespasser, though I am surprised no one, Inquisitor included, didn't think to query with him the fact that Abelas recognised him as one of his own. Perhaps it did make Leliana begin to wonder and that is why it was only then that she checked out the village he claimed to have come from.

If anyone feels up to it, I’d like to get your thoughts on something. During one of the flirts at Haven (might be the first one or it depends on which dialogue you pick first, can’t remember) the Inquisitor pretty much threatens possible physical harm against Cass and the Inquisition if they try to do anything to Solas.
I've never really thought about it before, was just happy to be flirting with him and his ‘Thank you.” sounds both surprised and grateful so I can never resist choosing it but isn’t it a bit odd? The Inquisitor barely knows him at this point and has agreed (reluctantly or not) to help save the world if she can but she sounds ready to kill all of them.
Solas: How would you stop them? Inky: However I had to.
Her voice drops and becomes pretty menacing. I guess since he saved/looked after her then it would make more sense in a way as in returning the favor.
What were your Inquisitor’s thoughts on this?

The Inquisitor barely knows him at this point and has agreed (reluctantly or not) to help save the world if she can but she sounds ready to kill all of them. What were your Inquisitor’s thoughts on this? I'm pretty sure that is a dialogue option you can get whether you are male or female. As you say, if you are opting to romance him, you tend to opt for the heart options and may miss the others. When subsequently playing my male Lavellan, it did allow me to explore dialogue I had not had previously. My male Lavellan had been a hunter/scout for his clan and pledged to their protection above all else. Since his clan did regard city elves as their People, particularly those who had rejected human civilisation, he naturally extended his sense of protection to encompass Solas. People tend to forget that Lavellan's mission was that of a spy, so he did spend his time studying how humans conducted themselves and working for the benefit of the elves. If the humans had threatened Solas, he would have done his utmost to protect him. He was only too aware of the Chantry strictures against magic and how the clans needed to be careful to avoid the attention of the Templars with regard to their mages, so he appreciated the danger Solas might be in as an apostate elf. Since his clan valued mages and kept to the original belief that every elven mage was a blessing because they were closer to how all elves had once been, he would be particularly keen to preserve Solas from harm. When Solas departed after the defeat of Corypheus, he thought it only sensible of him, since they had both been agreed that the humans would no doubt find a way to blame the elves for what had happened, because of the orb being elven. It also came as little surprise to him that the human leaders would start to kick back against an organisation led by an elf. Having met with Ameridan, he also suspected that history would likely forget the race of the Inquisitor over time and rather concentrate on the title of Herald of Andraste. What really angered my male Lavellen was the discovery that Solas had always been deceiving him. Solas admits that had he been able to recover his orb intact then he would have torn down the Veil immediately, with the resulting death and destruction. Considering he also admits that restoring the world of the ancient elves would result in the death of "his" people, Lavellan assumed this included his clan and all other modern elves. He was still smarting from Abelas' rejection of him but that was nothing to the wholesale destruction of his people at Solas' hands. He had thought Solas was a friend, someone he would have given his life to protect, so now he felt utterly betrayed. He has vowed to follow the Vir'Banal'ras against Solas as a result. As it happens he did specialise as an assassin so must have had foresight in that respect. Incidentally, he is also rather fond of the natural world where he has spent the majority of his life and assumes that the destruction would not just apply to people or their modern civilisation but the wider landscape as well, so he is fighting to preserve this as well.

When subsequently playing my male Lavellan, it did allow me to explore dialogue I had not had previously. Thank you for reminding me. Color me embarrassed. Had a second where I doubted myself but my brain insisted. 😅 Your view is similar to mine. Mine was a loner who didn’t really care much for her clan and did her part as hunter because she didn’t have the nerve to leave. Cue the mess. She doesn’t trust humans, has no idea what to do, and kind of latches onto Solas for being an elf and he tells her things her clan never bothered to. So, she absolutely would try to stop anyone who tried to harm him since they could turn on her as well.

I had that conversation fairly early in the game, not long after she herself was a prisoner of a bunch of human religious people who thought she'd killed their Divine, so it made sense to me that my elf would band together with other elves and defend them. She was close to her clan, which I feel was traditional enough that they only came close to human settlements like Wycome if they needed to trade, and then would do so very cautiously. I also headcanon that when she was a young teen, one of her best friends was killed by a novice Chevalier earning his feather, so she did not have much reason to trust humans at the beginning. So it made sense for her to feel strongly about keeping Solas safe.

DRAGON AGE DREAD WOLF TEE FEN’HAREL HAS ARRIVED It was a beast unlike any I had ever seen. Lupine in appearance, but the size of a high dragon, with shaggy spiked hide and six burning eyes like a pride demon… whatever fear the name Dread Wolf carries, he has earned. — Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights Whether you commend or condemn the Dread Wolf for his rebellion against the gods, it’s hard not to be feel captivated by his face. It incites fear and inspires awe with six eyes and blood-red maw. It pulls you in, like an invitation to discover the tangle of stories it represents. Make this captivating artwork part of your style with your Dragon Age Dread Wolf Tee. Its black color allows the illustration’s limited palette really stand out and give the illusion of Fen’Harel emerging from the shadows, as you can see in the gallery above. Aside from the awesome graphic, this tee offers a light and comfortable feel. Because it’s made with combed and ring-spun yarn, it is smoother, finer, and stronger than regular 100% cotton shirts. This also gives it a drape that feels and looks good even when you wear it under a few layers of clothes. Wear your Dragon Age Dread Wolf Tee whenever you want the elven god of rebellion to be with you in the waking world. gear.bioware.com/products/dragon-age-dread-wolf-tee

Solas: How would you stop them? Inky: However I had to. For me, I thought Solas and I were the only elves there, so it behooved us to watch each other's back. And yes, I don't count Sera because she doesn't care about being an elf, so she doesn't really have the same concerns that Solas and I would have regarding the situation we suddenly have found ourselves in.

More Solas merch: Hierophant Tarot Card statueA MAGE FOR THE AGESA trusted companion, a heretic, a lover, whatever you consider Solas, his great power and immense wisdom cannot be ignored. An elven apostate and hedge mage (though he would refuse such arbitrary titles), he has a passion for all things related to the Fade that keeps him apart from other elves on his wanderings. His yearning for knowledge and deep connection to the Fade have taken him to ancient ruins far beyond where most people in Thedas have ever ventured. Solas’s depiction as the tarot’s Hierophant speaks to his advisory relationship, with the Inquisitor, and as such, he offers signs of good days ahead— a thriving association and, for the female elven Inquisitor an abundance of love. Made using polyresin, this statue is a representation of the Hierophant romance tarot card from Dragon Age: Inquisition. It is intricately detailed with accurate features, colors, and outfit, as well as his signature staff, and the calm expression that you’d expect from Solas. We have added the wonderful lithograph tarot card designed by Ramil Sunga, Concept Director/Concept Lead at BioWare. Together, this statue and card duo promise to take you through the vivid world of Thedas and the mysterious realm of the Fade, as Solas sets out on yet another one of his dreamy journeys

Well. Everything Solas does doesn't usually end up going the way he wants it to. So I guess you could say he's cursed in that way.

His tombstone did say that his greatest fear is to die alone and he keeps isolating himself through his actions, so you could say he has cursed himself. I was wondering if it was hinting at something to do with his relationship to Mythal.

I get the 'curse of memory' vibe from this. All the people he has betrayed and all the people who seem to be reaching out for him, yet he has turned his back on them because he has convinced himself he is right.
Also shades of this:

I was wondering if it was hinting at something to do with his relationship to Mythal. Perhaps he cursed himself the very first time he isolated himself and became this prideful person; after he "burned" Mythal off his face? I mean, from then on, it's only been downhill for him it seems.

It is fan art that the fan artist posted on Twitter with hashtags to draw BioWare's attention and that BioWare is now sharing. It was named by the fan creator. I wouldn't read too much into the name of it since it's not BioWare official art. I realise it is basically fan art but it was one of the first pieces of art they chose to highlight on their relaunched community blog. I'm sure there are many other images of Solas they could have chosen instead, which is why I wondered if it could be significant. It is certainly different to the majority of Solas art that I've seen and is very striking because of that, so I just wondered if that was the only reason for its selection or if it particularly resonated with the team because of its title and symbolism. Fen'Harel has only ever been invoked by the Dalish as a curse against others; I've never heard any of them curse Fen'Harel himself, not surprisingly because who would be able to carry out their curse and why would they want to risk invoking his wrath against them? The elves stuck in the crumbling Vir Dirthara vowed to kill him if they managed to get out of there alive and probably cursed him as they died but that is not enough to warrant the title "the Cursed One". That suggests an enduring fate that you can't escape. Even if there is no hidden meaning to Bioware's choice of this image, it is still worth discussing what the artist intended to convey by the image and its title.

All the people he has betrayed and all the people who seem to be reaching out for him, yet he has turned his back on them because he has convinced himself he is right. Yes, that could be what the artist is trying to convey. He certainly seems cursed to be tormented by his memory of what he did and did not do in the past; how it impacted on his People and what he now thinks he must do to rectify his mistakes. As I say above, he seems to have doomed himself to always be alone, unable to trust anyone or share the burden of decision making, which could also mean he is cursed to repeat his mistakes because there is no dissenting voice that might give him pause and consider a different path. Note also that stripe of red down the left hand side. Originally the only form of guidance he allowed himself was what he saw in the Fade but has this become tainted with the emanations from red lyrium? Going off on a related thought, I've been throwing out a few theories on the Crazy forum but one idea that has struck me is what connection there might be between the idol and Mythal. Are they in any way linked spiritually or physically? Does a "piece" of Mythal lie within the idol and that accounts for its appearance and ability to regenerate? Is the existence of the idol the reason Mythal had to flee to the Fade and find an alternative body to occupy rather than simply regenerate through that piece? Has absorbing Mythal now made that connection between Solas and the idol? Is the idol going to gradually take over his mind and encourage Fen'Harel to become dominant at the expense of his true self? Of course, it could be that Fen'Harel starts to become dominant without any outside influence. If we are to save him from himself, it is going to be necessary to attack the Fen'Harel persona, which I think is what he turns to whenever his purpose wavers. I really do wonder if finding his true name, in other words his first name before he became Solas may be part of the plot line; then confronting Fen'Harel in the Fade where he now reigns supreme in order to defeat him and restore Solas to his true self. (For those who don't care about saving Solas, they simply destroy Fen'Harel and thereby kill Solas)

I have been musing and thinking about posting for a bit that I do wonder if Solas v Fen'Harel wouldn't be metaphysical but actually in some way physical. After all it seems like the Fade has a potential mirror for everything in the real world or at least a connection there. And well just remembered to considering i just saw this but during the Redcliffe mision Jowan mentions that Connor was being controlled from the Fade in the first place... So at the end of the day one of the things Solas could be worried about in addition to everything else would be releasing himself on the world. The aspect of himself, the Dread Wolf and that could also be one of the things he is trying to stop emerging into Thedas. Which also occurs to me further (theory crafting is great) that this also mentions the murals both him facing off against the Dread Wolf and then the mural at the TGA trailer where it seems like the Dread Wolf is emerging or cutting through something.

So at the end of the day one of the things Solas could be worried about in addition to everything else would be releasing himself on the world. The aspect of himself, the Dread Wolf and that could also be one of the things he is trying to stop emerging into Thedas. Remember he also says to a romanced Lavellan that he doesn't want them to see what he will become. Now the romanced tarot card has the white wolf, whereas the non romanced Solas is the Dread Wolf, and PW said he used the romance to make him a character we could sympathise with more than the way he was originally envisaged but to a lesser extent he still does that if you are a friend. We get more of a sense of the Dread Wolf if we don't get along with him. In Trespasser you definitely get the cold, hard side of him if we have antagonised him. Anyway, it seems to me that the speech to romanced Lavellan was hinting at the sort of transformation you are suggesting. As we both agree, Fen'Harel is already dominant in the Fade. That is, of course, where Felassan confronted him, knowing he would likely die as a result. How dominant Fen'Harel is over Solas has already been altered according to our relationship with him in Inquisition and I feel that final decision in Trespasser probably has some bearing on how far the subjugation by Fen'Harel has gone. As you say, that image of him breaking through the Veil may not actually indicated that Solas does succeed in his plan to remove it but may rather suggest him being overwhelmed by Fen'Harel, so the Dread Wolf is now outside the Fade rather than within it, but probably before his ritual completes because he needs to be ready to confront the Evanuris and must be the Dread Wolf for his plans against them to succeed. I don't know if it is significant, since it may just be force of habit even if she did know him by a different name at one time, but Flemeth/Mythal addresses him as the Dread Wolf, so may be that is an indicator that she wants him to embrace his alter ego. Remember he said that originally it was a title given to him by his enemies that he adopted as a way of intimidating their followers and encouraging his own. So that would suggest that at one time Mythal did know him by a different name and since they are friends, why would she refer to him by the title given by their mutual enemies?

I have started playing Mass Effect again and reading here about Dragon Age. It is good to be doing some BioWare-stuff. Hope all is well for everyone.

Another new Solas merch from the gear store: gear.bioware.com/products/dragon-age-dreadwolf-canvas-printThe description is very interestink, very interestink indeed... ''THE REDEEMER HAS ARRIVED A heretic, a betrayer of clans, a destroyer, or a redeemer; whatever you want to call Solas, you cannot deny his relentless resolve to bring back all of Elven land to its past glory. A companion to the inquisitor, he whispered words of wisdom and his endearing embrace (at least to his female companion). But times have changed and with the events not turning out the way they should have, the humble elf has had to reveal himself as the elven god Fen'Harel, The Dread Wolf. The great betrayer is back to accomplish his prophetic mission of protecting the elven people from internal war and civil strife, tearing down the veil, and rectifying his past trials. This vibrant canvas print captures the Dread Wolf deep in thought. His devilishly calm visage and royal regalia steer away from his pedestrian apprentice armor. And while you lose yourself in his gold ornamented crest and the green halo, his malevolent mind plays tricks on yours. Through the canvas and across the realms, this Dread Wolf bewitches the beholder. The stretched canvas is spread over a ¾” wood frame. Hang it in your gaming dungeon or living room as you prepare yourself to confront the agents of Fen'Harel and the elven lord himself.''
