You know what I find is so sad, especially for a Lavellan who romanced Solas? The number of people who tell her through the course of the game and DLC to "take happiness where she can find it" because the world is a hard place. Offhand, I can think of the following people telling her this: Mother Giselle Cassandra Inquisitor Ameridan Can you think of any others? I'm curious how many people actually told her this in the game and DLCs. And she does. She does try to take happiness where she can find it throughout the whole 3-4 years she lived from getting the mark to losing it. And then where does that advice leave her?

Ugh.. This elf, seriosly. I wonder if Patrick Weekes was in some troll mode when he wrote this (or whoever is responsible) Cassandra: I know my abilities do not come from the Maker, as I had once thought... Solas: Your abilities declare the world real. Who, if not the Maker of this world, could grant such a gift? Cassandra: You believe in the Maker? Solas: I am always open to new ideas. How about opening up to not murdering an entire continent? *seethe seethe* No good screenies from todays session. Have one where he's being a stick in the mud. Yes, he IS standing up to his knees in the dirt.

Oooh that banter. Yeah that one always confused me a little. Varric starts talking about how Fenris dresses and then Fenris makes a comment on his markings ... but tattoos don't necessarily imply "slave" so I'm not sure where Fenris was going with that. It was just an odd reply to what Varric said. But then Varric's comment of how Fenris' appearance screamed, "I hate you all, I was a slave" is also strange because ok I can see how the dark, spiky armor could say "I hate you all" but I'm still not getting how it implies Fenris was a slave. Or it could just be my tendency to take things too literally. Fenris does mention that there are other warriors like him in the Imperium (although it's rare) and his armour does appear to fit the common Tevinter motif of being black and extremely spiky. Varric's comment seems to suggest he thinks that Fenris wants to stand out rather than hide, because an Elf with lyrium markings and Tevinter-style armour is probably a huge red flag to everyone that he's an escaped slave. (Fenris also admits to Hawke that he'd rather confront his former master than continue to run from him forever, so his decision to keep wearing an outfit that screams "Come at me, Bro!" to draw Danarius to Kirkwall is definitely in-character for him.)

I think the thing about Fenris' markings coupled with his dress is that they look so unlike any other elf you will find in the south. The Dalish have tattoos but nothing like his and none of them wear that sort of armour. City elves are not allowed any blade bigger than a dagger, do not generally wear armour and do not have tattoos, unless they are with the Crows. I think it is pretty obvious to anyone that Fenris is not a Crow.
So, by process of elimination, big ass sword plus spiky armour plus weird lyrium tattoos suggest he can only come from one place, Tevinter, and thus likely to be a runaway slave. Plus Kirkwall seems to be simply crawling with Tevinter contacts in the form of slavers, pirates and agents seeking to undermine the Qun, so they are going to notice Fenris even if no one else does.

Quick question: Why do you suppose Solas says that ultimately only he could have kept the anchor and lived? He can clearly control it but is that simply through greater knowledge of magic or some physiological difference? Was it really the fact that he would have instantly used it to tear down the Veil, thus draining it of power for millennia?
I still find it puzzling that Solas claims that he is simply mortal, like all the Evanuris, yet he is capable of performing and controlling magic in a way that no mere mortal can. He did not have the power to activate the orb himself, yet apparently he does have the power to supress the anchor. This was the case even in the early days at Haven. Was it simply utilising it to constantly close rifts that stopped it overloading, so by the Exalted Council there are no longer enough rifts to counteract this? Going into the Crossroads definitely seemed to speed up the process, as did visiting the Library, yet our sojourn in the Fade did nothing to it, nor did it react to being in close proximity to streams of lyrium in the Descent. I'd love to know why this was.

Cassandra. They should have taken a Solasmaner's approval level with Cassandra into account because as it is Cass comes off seeming very insensitive. I pretty much hate Cassandra now. Who'd bring up marriage proposals with their clearly heartbroken friend based on a rumor? The Ameridan one in JOH was the only advice about being happy that didn't feel cliche for me because he'd been in the Inquisitor's shoes.
Oh, you did leave out one BE HAPPY moment: Solas tells Lavellan to "live well while time remains" which is kinda sorta that same sort of line. Lavellan was happy, if only for a time. Perhaps she'll be happy again. Here's hoping that she can hold onto memories of that happiness, let them warm her heart, and use the hope they inspire to guide her in her quest to save Solas and Thedas. I am the world's biggest sap. Re Cassandra and Trespasser: It HAS been 2 years. I'd think many people would have moved on in that time. Well obviously not us 'cause we're obsessed ... not bunny-boiling creepy obsessed but still. Anyway Cassandra wasn't there for the entirety of the 2 years right? Wasn't she away trying to find any other surviving Seekers? So she probably hasn't been around for Lavellan to talk to and she wouldn't be aware if Lavellan had or had not recovered/moved on. What I *would* have liked is for different conversation options for a romanced Lavellan. Something that indicated that no she's not ok still, like she could with Blackwall and Vivienne.

Agreed, more options would have helped. Maybe she wasn't supposed to have "been there for the entirety of 2 years," but even so I have issues. She makes comments about the Inky keeping a secret love interest rather than asking her is she had found someone new. How would she know if Lavellan had been keeping something like that a "secret" if she hadn't been around? Did she go around asking EVERYONE if the Inky had a new lover? If she was sooo out of the loop, why wouldn't Cass assume that she was just ignorant of the matter--that the Inky's new relationship was common knowledge at Skyhold. The writing was really awkward for anyone without a "present" LI. It obviously wasn't written with a Solavellan player in mind. As you said, Vivienne and Blackwall at least allowed Lavellan to share how she currently felt about Solas. What's up with that? My Inky had super low approval with Vivienne, yet she was more sensitive to her man troubles than Cassandra. Meh. I never liked Cassandra anyhow. I don't see it that way at all. Since I've played Trespasser with Solasmancing Lavellan as first, I've read Cassandra's awkwardness and fidgeting as entirely appropriate - she seemed to have difficulty asking Lavellan abut the whole thing, because she knew the topic was delicate and seemed like she didn't know what to think about it, other than she seemed concerned about her friend's happiness.

Hello, I've catched up on the thread again !! First of all thank you very much CapricornSun for posting my thing, and asking I really couldn't get the time to read new pages and submit the stupid artwork here lol, I'm glad to know you did ! If you ever find anything from me that isn't posted here as well within the next hour, it means I CANT do it, and probably because I'm dead asleep LOL And now, coming with a brand new silly trashwork featuring WOLF SOALS again !!!! ♥ I love this theme so much (trashwork = artworks from trashdom, also it's almost an anagram huehuehue)

That's the way I saw it, I might be a little biased because Cassandra was my BFF, but it made sense that whatever new love interest Inky had she wanted to be supportive, even if Lavellan had not told her about it, and the awkwardness was just a good fit for her character (hey guys!)

Hehe, just bought them all. About time, lol. I know what I'm doing this weekend Trespasser does way more for the game than add an epilogue. It adds a ton of content throughout the entire game. You'll constantly see quality items and schematics you never before encountered; rewards for War Table operations will be better; and I believe the improved difficulty adjustments were added via Trespasser, as well. Trespasser is way more than it appears on the surface. It was well worth starting a fresh character to enjoy the entire game, with these DLCs installed, to its fullest. I enjoyed it enough that I ended up immediately creating another Inquisitor for a fresh go at it. (This from a guy who sold the preordered CE in disappointment after a single run.)

On which difficulty setting are you playing? Also, with which class are you playing? If you aren't using them, certain items can help Cole quite a bit. Malika's Guard could do wonders. It would cut into his flanking damage, but it would keep him upright, and make him useable. Cole had the best lines in The Descent by far, as he often does. He often seems to be delivering otherwise hidden lore when he's brought along. I'm trying to use different party members more with my current Inquisitor, an Assassin Archer, but I really miss Cole's input. I can't imagine The Descent without him. Who else will tell me what the lyrium is singing? 😉

Always bring Solas, he and Cassandra are staples to me. Yeah, this is the heart of my squad, too. It was rough when Solas ghosted and Cass became Divine Victoria. Blackwall steps in without a hitch, and I will always retrain Bull as a tank, henceforth. No one can replace Solas, though. The three mages each play very differently. He is greatly missed. I also didn't initially realize that they each keep their gear when they leave. I had schematics to replace it, but still... 😒

The Anchor is the magic of the orb, and the orb is keyed to Solas. It is made for him, likely by him, and is probably beyond the skill of mages of this era. That doesn't mean he wields magic a mortal can't wield; he's simply wielding magic in a way that it hasn't been understood in millennia. Look at what Morrigan can do with a bit of knowledge. She suddenly seems a lot more like Flemeth of old (DAO days), before we understand Flemeth's dual nature. Solas was weak when he awoke, and seems to have stolen some, or most, of Mythal's accumulated power in order to get his plan on track. I think his control over the Anchor has increased. He seems to have both more power and greater facility in all things magical since stealing Mythal's power. We adventured with a greatly diminished, handicapped Solas. Now, he is largely restored-- sufficiently so, at least, to launch his plan in earnest. As to the deterioration of the Inquisitor's condition, I believe that's due to the passage of time. Most of the things you named that had "no discernible effect" are assumed to have happened during the main story timeline. The events you named that seemed to "have an effect" happened during the Trespasser timeline, two years after the Inquisitor acquired the Anchor. I think the Anchor is killing the Inquisitor because s/he has had it for two years; s/he is not the intended bearer; and it's damaged magic, rather than the whole orb. Edit: I wanted to comment on the part about Solas' "divinity", since this has been running through my mind since completing Trespasser, and even before, as the story took shape. It seems to me, based upon Dalish folk lore, and now upon much more concrete information, that the Evanuris elevated Solas to their ranks, or nearly so, at some point. Something similar likely happened with Ghilan'nain, at some point. Before this, I imagine he was simply a magically gifted servant or slave. ( I've seen fan art of Solas with Mythal's vallaslin, but haven't encountered any lore to suggest why.) Maybe Mythal played a part in elevating him, or maybe they became friends later. It seems clear he admired her, and she seems fond of him, still. I believe the Forgotten Ones may have arisen from Solas' liberated slave pupils. We don't have any sort of timeline, yet, to support this. We just know that, according to Dalish legend, the Evanuris considered Solas one of them, and the Forgotten Ones felt the same. I suspect that Solas rebelled against the Mage Leaders, trained the freed slaves in the magic of the Evanuris, thus creating rival Mage Leaders -- the Forgotten Ones. The resulting conflict was horrible enough that the beloved/infamous Fen'Harel realized that all Mage Leaders had to be taken off the board forever. Thus, we got the creation of the Veil, and the deliciously vague story that follows. The main point here is that I believe Solas is directly responsible for the Forgotten Ones. I believe he trained them in Evanuris magic, creating more would-be tyrants and a world-threatening war in the process.

(This from a guy who sold the game in disappointment after a single run through the preordered CE.) Yep I noticed all the changes the biggest for me was being able to wear something else in sky haven!!! Gotta say I love the improvements, it's enough to have me playing again. I'm on nightmare which is still too easy so the difficulty adjustments were definitely appreciated too even if it's still rather easy in the core game lol. I just gave Bull and other squishy party members fade touched silverite and obsidian, so I bring around people I normally wouldn't.

Wow! That Lavellan is gorgeous! *v* I sent her a message on Tumblr for her Lavellan's sliders for you. Hopefully she'll reply! NightSymphony , I got a reply from her! She said that she doesn't have any sliders saved but she could replicate her again, and once she's done she’ll be more than happy to post them.
