NeverlandHunterYou're back! We missed you falon! You must tell us more of your journeys! Come, I will help you unpack your aravel! Welcome home, Neverland!!! Thank you, theycallmebunny! Though I didn't bring much with me. My username, my Toothless profile pic, my incredible wit and loveable personality... and some Solas despair, but that's been following me around for about two years now! Ir abelas for taking so long to find you, friends! Thank you too, nightsymphony, for the welcome and the Solas hug! As for further sharing my story, well, I will translate my experience to first person normalness (well, as normal as I ever get). It all began on the first of August when I moved into my new place... well actually it began a few days afterwards, after I got my stuff somewhat more organized and realized that I lost my copy of Dragon Age: Inquisition. This was somewhat (very) annoying considering my Xbox one copy was the second time I bought Dragon Age, the first being for the Xbox 360 (ah, I remember that DLC phiasco not fondly at all), but I had other things on my mind and Dragon Age was stacked in the "to think about later" part of my brain. Flash forward a few weeks and I'm visiting at my dad's and using that opportunity to set up my new used Xbox One (I have yet to invest in Internet), namely putting my profile up. I was trying to figure out how I had an Inquisition background on my previous profile (via achievements I realized later) when I went into the Xbox store and saw that a complete bundle of Inquisition was on sale for $16 and the sale would end in an hour at midnight. Sometimes decisions aren't really decisions, you know? After I bought it and enough of it downloaded to be able to play, I left my sister play it since she had been enthusiastically cheering me on (I studiously ignored that it was after midnight and she had school in the morning. Like good sisters do!). She made a female elf, I nudge nudge nudged her towards the Solas romance. She rolled her eyes and told me I had vent spoiled it for her awhile ago. I nudge nudged her towards Cullen or Josephine (and nudge nudge nudged her away from The Iron Bull for maturity reasons) and watched her play and realized how much I missed playing my female elf. Soon after Ithilia Lavellan was reborn (more accurately rererereborn. I've played her over a lot... mostly because Solas)! YouTube helpfully was a participant in reigniting my addiction (Fluffyninjallama... and others. Where would I be without you? Sane? Nay, says I! Only in a deeper whole of unfulfilled dreams!). Finally, I was fully back on board the Solas hellspiral and this led me to checking up on my once haven of security and addiction feeding.... I decided earlier today to see how my old thread friends were doing. Was Blanketfort still occupied? If it was, what were the occupants up to? I went on to BSN (the first) and noticed the Dragon Age: Inquisition section hadn't been replied to since Aug. 26, 2016. Wow, thought I, had it really been so long that Inquisition discussion died so thoroughly? And then I scrolled up to have a looksy at Mass Effect: Andromeda's section (perhaps some of my friends had migrated to newer waters) and it and all other sections had the same last post date! It must be a glitch, I figured, and I traipsed into the Inquisition story forum and over to my old home, the Blanketfort. *Interrupting sniffle* I was shocked and a little nostalgically warmed to see some of my old comrades, but what was going on! Page after page I had to backtrack to find the origin of this devastation! And I did... and it hurt, but I persevered! I read through your discussions, your debates on where to move (and I was very moved my your goodbyes! I sung your song as I followed behind, threaddad!), until finally I decided to make the journey and the account myself! And that is my story! Did you actually intend for me to write so much explaining it, theycallmebunny? Perhaps not! (Probably not.) But I did! Because no one else in my life would understand the few hours of emotional turmoil I just went through and I needed to vent! P.S. I love you all, thanks for taking the time to read my melodramatic tale!

In Return to Ostagar, there's a Genlock Necromancer who manages to raise the Ogre that Duncan killed during the battle, so it seems that spirits can possess Darkspawn. ...That's assuming that whatever has possess the fallen ogre was a spirit. It doesn't have to be - it could as well be the Taint, especially that... well... this is what it basically does. It infects and is so aggressive that eventually it possesses the body, turning infected people into ghouls. In DAA a demon shade enter into an Ogre and possess its body. The darkspawn necromancer did not used the taint to revive that Ogre it' s seem to me it called a spirit and used it to revive it.

Someone on this thread suggested to me that the reason the elven language doesn't make sense is that when the veil was down, elves used to be telepath/empathic so the language was half felt half spoken. I like that. They still had to speak with non elves(their human slaves)so they had to use words with them.

You may have had a different username in the past. Well, anywho, pleasure to meet you! Now, I find it most likely the ancient elves did actually vocally communicate, but I'm replying to you specifically because I don't think the ancient elves kept human slaves (unless I'm missing a bit of lore, which entirely possible!). I do agree they must have had some dealings with non-elves though. Mythal and the Titan being a prime example. Although talking and killing don't always go hand-in-hand.

NeverlandHunter After reading your post I went back to our old home to watch what was left of it and convene a bit with the spirits. Reading the goodbye posts (felt a bit weird seeing my own!) really was sad. I really like it here, I do, it will just never be the same. Must have been a shock for you to finally return and basically see a graveyard!

Must have been a shock for you to finally return and basically see a graveyard! It was definitely shocking. I don't think I gave myself time to process it earlier. Only now am I really mulling over the whole thing. I just watched Biofan's video on the forums closing and it opened a flood gate of feelings. BSN was the first social site I ever got invested in, because of it I wrote my very first fanfictions (unfinished of course. I'm a master procrastinator). Dragon Age was the first fandom I ever felt part of. All my nerd loves-- Dragon Age, frilly romance crap, anime, fantasy in general, role-playing-- I kept to myself because I was afraid people would look down on me for these likes. The BioWare forums was the first place I opened up and shared that part of myself (with other adults that is. My little sisters have always had to deal with the brunt of my nerdiness). It's only been two years, but since then I feel like I've had a serious perspective change and confidence boost. Am I going to tell my non-game playing friends I obsess over a bald elf mage? Nay! But I will proudly proclaim my Dragon Age love! And I owe a lot of that to like minded people in the Solas thread and all around the BioWare forums! So, saying goodbye to that is sad, but changes usually are. I'm just grateful the thread exists somewhere else and many of the friends I made are still active on here!

That sentence "will i tell my friends i obsess over a bald elf mage? Nay!" made me giggle. Totally how i feel as well my friends have absolutely no idea the extent of my geekiness. I could just imagine their faces if i told them about my egghead obsession  When my husband is watching his programs, i secretly look at Solas screenshots and eagerly await the end of the programme so that i can go to back Thedas (doing another Lavellan play through). Even my husband doesn't know the extent of my love. Its a secret addiction. My dirty little secret haha! I only played as an elf the first time a couple of months ago and all my other play throughs I didn't like Solas so was intrigued about how he'd be in a romance and tbh i just thought it would be highly amusing. Then he said about dominating my focus and i was like. Hmm... I actually wouldn't mind that. And then a little while later we fade tongued and i was hooked. And then he broke my heart and i was even more hooked. And then played Trespasser and since then I've been completely and utterly obsessed. I never ever ever expected that. He came in like a wrecking ball haha! I didn't see it coming and i didn't stand a chance.

So I had a dream with Solas in it! Kind of. It was like a weird mash-up of Solas and Gravity Falls. He had a dragon, and he sat on a beach and let people pet it while he read a book. Then he went into his house, which was sometimes a just a weird abandoned house and sometimes a magical elven laboratory thing. The entrance was this hallway with a series of traps and puzzles that he made to test A ) The mental acuity of people trying to get in and B ) various things he made in the lab. So I went in first and died after three rooms. But then the cast from Gravity Falls were selected to go in and I think they made it! I kind of woke up before anything was resolved. Also I think Morrowind featured in there somewhere. Maybe it was set in Morrowind? That sounds about right. I'm also pretty sure Lavellan got pushed off a cliff at some point. What do you think it means... *wanders in* 'sup Sorry I left, ma vhenans. I've been trying to save on cash so the last few months have seen very little of me buying and playing games and a whole lot of me staring at various game pages on Steam and crying. I'll probably cave and buy Zubmariner though, if only because it's the cheapest one on my list.

It adds a great deal to the base game and is fully intergrated (a warning: if you're not okay with spiders I suggest staying above zee at 70+ terror). (do you play Fallen London, too? I keep meaning to go back to that). Dishonored was going really cheap on Steam. Got the GOTY edition for under £10. Loved every second of it (except the Flooded District because screw that level). I brought it mostly because I saw some stuff about Dishonored II that got me interested. And yeah. The next few months are going to be very expensive for games. Mass Effect, Dishonored II, Resident Evil VII, Pokemon... at least the upgrade for Skyrim is going to be free. Plus I want to join the Kickstarter for Sunless Skies.

If you played The Last Court (which is also by Failbetter Games, and Alexis Kennedy was a writer for) then it's much like that, only very Steampunk/Lovecraftian. It tends to go pretty cheaply on Steam and I would recommend buying it. I've been a Failbetter fan for well over a year now and I'm yet to be bored with Sunless Sea (it helps it gets new stories pretty often).

Plus I want to join the Kickstarter for Sunless Skies. I pick at Fallen London from time to time, but it just doesn't hold my attention like Sunless Sea. It doesn't help that the gameplay's so stop-and-start by design. I do follow some FL lore blogs, though. I only got into Sunless Sea (And FL, by extension) when they had that free weekend a while back, but I'd like to contribute to Sunless Skies as well. *wanders in* 'sup Sorry I left, ma vhenans. I've read that one of the writers for Sunless Seas is going to be part of the writers team for DA: 4. IMO, it depends on what you like in games. I've always liked games with a lot of potential for exploration, even if their gameplay/combat isn't very deep or engaging. I'm also a relatively patient gamer, so I don't mind having to spend a few quiet minutes trekking along to get to something interesting (Wind Waker's my favorite Zelda game, which also put you through a lot of relatively calm sailing segments in order to get anywhere.) The writing, lore, and general atmosphere's pretty excellent, and the soundtrack's great too. So if you like exploring stuff and listening to neat tunes for a few minutes while you sail past impossible Lovecraftian horrors, then I'd recommend it. But - it is a somewhat slow game since, well, you do have to sail around a lot, and in the beginning especially you won't be going very fast. Combat's pretty shallow, a lot of mechanics are based mostly on luck, and and it's easy to play things too safe and fall into grinding. None of those things bothered me much, and I very much enjoyed the game, but I know they were barriers for other people. If you do try it, though, let me give you a word of advice - don't grind. Turn off merciless mode, save often, forget about getting a lot food/fuel/money, and push the boundaries of the map, because that's when the game's at it's best. Completing quests will give you way better rewards than anything else, but you won't be able to do too many of them if you're just sticking to the same small part of the sea.

That last one is amazing! I'm tempted to buy it and have it framed, if I wasn't 100% sure that wolf would give me nightmares for years! (But I can't look away)

Zubmariner is worth the Echos, lethallan. How was Sunless Seas anyway? Hell no. Keep merciless mode and push the boundaries. And then deal with screwing up and making one tiny mistake and frigging dying when you're two steps away from completing At Last: Salt's Song and I'm not bitter at all. (but for real, this is the only way to play). I used to play Echo Bazaar a lot. Is Fallen London anything like it? Same game, new name. Sunless Sea is different though.

Ooh, Solas is looking good. The heart beat animation is awesome, but the entire picture is kind of nightmare inducing. I know it's supposed to look like the Dragon Age Keep artwork, but there's something about a faceless person holding a beating heart that I find a bit unnerving.
