Wishful thinking time: Supposing the Veil does get taken down, and supposing that is the last installment of the Dragon Age series... It might be the beginning of the Reunification Age series (I'm sure they could come up with a better name for it, though.) Earlier decisions, love interests, etc? GONE. They were nullified by or died in the chaos. Problematic game play? Doesn't matter anymore, everything will be new and different. Old God Kieran does say this about Morrigan, after all: "She is the inheritor, she who awaits the next age." He also says: "People fear the next age if it comes too soon." And the whole timeline of the world has been divided into various Ages, after all. Wishful thinking... you want this to happen? That would be awful but also a great way for BioWare to wipe its slate clean with choices and all that. Still, I'm leaning more towards awful and I hope it doesn't happen!

Still, I'm leaning more towards awful and I hope it doesn't happen! Yeah, I don't know if I agree with you. I was disappointed when Gary Larson stopped creating The Far Side, and when Bill Watterson stopped creating Calvin and Hobbes, but I respect their decision to stop. I am a big Castle fan, but was actually grateful when ABC decided to discontinue Castle. I have also enjoyed Supernatural, but I kind of wonder why it's still being made. Stuff does run its course. In a similar vein, I would respect BioWare's decision to stop making games in the Thedas setting if they feel there's nothing interesting or compelling about it anymore. But the DA series seems to be in good hands and I think it's kind of unreasonable to assume that any games made in the setting after the Veil is torn down would be awful.

Oh, I'd be completely understanding if and when BioWare decides to stop making Dragon Age games, granted that this comes after DA4 and its given a somewhat satisfying ending. It's continuing in the same world as Dragon Age, but wiping away everything that happened before that bothers me. Similar to what's happening with Andromeda, the only difference is space is HUGE and it was there before BioWare decided to use it as a setting. DA's world was created for the Dragon Age games... I don't really like the idea of an entirely new story starting in that world. If that makes any sense. Which sometimes I don't Honestly, when the time comes for the developers to close the book on the Dragon Age story-line, I'd much prefer they put their creative brilliance towards a new universe and game series.

Whoever your protagonist is would know the world was once very different, and could feel bitter or grateful about the change. They might even hate the Inquisitor for not seeing through Solas' deceptions, etc. And although I have never been fond of playing mages and therefore I would not be super excited about playing someone who pretty much has to be a mage, there could be some interesting stories set in a post-Veil world. Who knows, maybe there were (in Solas' time) and could again be some people with no magic, maybe we could choose to have our protagonist be one of those. Would they face prejudices or pity from the rest of society, or what? (Heh, non-mages become the replacements for previous underdog races like the City Elves.) It would be an easy and logical way to not have to keep bringing old LIs back for cameos and stuff, though.

I tend to agree with NeverlandHunter that they'd have a nearly impossible task in trying to portray Thedas without the Veil. The bar has been set too high by the descriptions we've been given. They'd never be able to do it justice. The world would be far too magical to even begin to make the game mechanics work. (The crappy mechanics barely hold up now, as is.) If the Veil falls, which I think is nearly inevitable (or at least an inevitable choice), we will likely get only a brief glimpse at that world. I just can't imagine how they could do it justice when they barely manage to give the Thedas of the current age its due, visually and mechanically.

I even ranted about this earlier today After the main storyline, the Dragon Age series is over as we know it, do you want the world to continue being played in in future games? Completely irrelevant to current discussion...
Solas said something new when i asked him about himself before which i got super excited about but it also bugged me because he called me inquisitor and we're in Haven! I'm just before starting the quest to go after Alexus and I've done a fair few quests and got Solas approval rating up and just asked him to tell me more about himself (already exhausted the other options). When got to "is that why you joined the inquisition?" He says "I joined because all in danger blah blah no where to rest my head if world destroyed blah blah" and my Lavellan goes "oh" all sad like and Solas says "inquisitor... Its the reason why I joined. Not the reason why I stayed." Awww very sweet but why'd he call me Inquisitor? Its bugged me. Plus at this point I'd only flirted with him once because the "tell me about yourself" dialogue tree is the one with the most flirt options, that's why i left it till last since i could roleplay that they've spent at least a few weeks together before starting really flirting. I thought the Haven dialogue options were just for Haven and meant to be exhausted at Haven as sort of an introduction to each character? I presumed they'd disappear or change once in Skyhold. Sorry, i know its trivial but just little details like that are so immersion breaking! Maybe Solas can see into the future and let it slip that we'd become inquisitor lol or I'll just pretend he didn't say inquisitor but said the rest. Which is so lovely because if i do that its like they've already got an undeniable connection before real flirting and fade tonguing occurs!

Those dialogues from him are approval based, not based on where you are at in the story progression. It's not the only place you can be called Inquisitor before making it to Skyhold. It's just something that was overlooked

Anyway, yay for more dialogue from solas and it was very sweet bless him lol Does that mean that any left over dialogue options in haven are still available once in skyhold? I've always made sure i exhausted all characters dialogue options whilst in Haven before sealing the breach thinking they'd disappear?

Hi guys. I just popped in to say that my husband was talking to our cat while he was getting ready for work and I was still asleep. And I just say to him out of the blue "Ask Solas about it" o_o I think he was asking the cat a question (although I thought the question was directed at me) and I was sure that solas knew the answer to it LMAO

I've also had Blackwall call me Inquisitor when we were still in Haven. That's right. "You are, after all, in charge" This is how I imagine some of my Inquisitors reacting to that statement: I am? Yes! Yes, I am! This is such a bad idea.

If they were going to try and make another game where previous choices didn't matter, I'd think the Veil fall as a clean slater would be a great opportunity for that, but I'm of the opinion we won't see much post Veil world. I even ranted about this earlier today After the main storyline, the Dragon Age series is over as we know it, do you want the world to continue being played in in future games? I know there could be a ton more stories told on all manner of different things in that world, but don't you want a little mystery of the world left untouched and would it really be the same playing it after your interconnected story is done being told? If they made anymore games, of course I'd play them, but it would also be bittersweet to move on to other worlds and new stories? If the new story was compelling and interesting, I'd be totally okay with playing in Thedas in a post-Veil world, yes. I'm currently playing the third campaign in a tabletop RPG setting that one of my friends created. We played the first campaign from 2002-2005, the second campaign from 2008-2011, and the campaign we're currently playing in began in 2014. In terms of the setting, these games have spanned about 86 years - much longer than Dragon Age so far - but our player characters have always been based out of the same city. Our PCs from the first campaign were all pretty dead by the time of the second campaign. This third campaign is taking place only about 30 years after the end of the second campaign, though, so my old PC is still floating around, although she is no longer controlled by me. Anyway, both previous campaigns had fairly world-altering plotlines that caused a great deal of social upheaval - similar to what the Veil coming down could do in Thedas. Yet my GM's plotlines continue to be interesting, involved, and compelling. So, I may be predisposed to think that a post-Veil setting could be a pretty interesting place to play a video game in. There's still a great deal of Thedas to explore, let alone the islands such as Par Vollen, and also the lands over the sea that have only been hinted at in the lore. And if the removal of the Veil is as violent as Solas suggests, even the lands we know may be altered beyond recognition. I did hate when World of Warcraft rearranged its map during the Cataclysm years ago (indeed, that is when I gave up playing WoW) but since I don't have to memorize how to get from point A to point B in Dragon Age games to nearly the same degree as I did in WoW, I don't think it would make things unbearably annoying for me.

*snip* Does that mean that any left over dialogue options in haven are still available once in skyhold? I've always made sure i exhausted all characters dialogue options whilst in Haven before sealing the breach thinking they'd disappear? I can't speak for ALL dialogue options, but I think they do carry over to Skyhold with minor changes if you haven't exhausted them before leaving Haven. As an example, when you ask Solas about elves in Haven, the conversation begins like this: Inquisitor: I’d be interested in hearing your opinions on elven culture. Solas: I thought you’d be more interested in sharing your opinions of elven culture. You are Dalish, are you not?
You then get to pick the option you want for replying to Solas, and eventually you get the Investigate options of asking him to tell you about ancient elves, more of the Dalish, about city elves, or about elven magic. But, if you don't ask him about elves before getting to Skyhold, the conversation begins like this: Inquisitor: I’d be interested in hearing your opinions on elven culture.
Solas: Perhaps you could ask Sera. She has… opinions.
Option 1:
Inquisitor: Sera is part of our team. You don’t need to be snide about her.
Solas: Actually, on some level I do. She takes it better than she would take my pity… or my envy. She has a purity of purpose that I lack. I have observed too much and done too little.
Option 2:
Inquisitor: You don’t much care for Sera, do you?
Solas: I pity her. Although I imagine she would detest that. Perhaps in truth I envy her. She has a purity of purpose that I lack. I have observed too much and done too little.
Option 3:
Inquisitor: If I wanted Sera’s opinions, I’d be talking to her.
Solas: And learning some colourful new idioms, no doubt.
Solas: What do you wish to know?
The conversation then continues exactly as it would have in Haven, with the Inquisitor getting the Investigate options of asking him to tell you about ancient elves, more of the Dalish, about city elves, or about elven magic. His responses are identical to those he gives an Inquisitor who asks him in Haven. (I've been very slowly compiling Solas dialogues into a document which you can access here: www.mediafire.com/file/ngy7mnfdj52wo6t/Solas+Conversation+and+Cutscene+transcripts+-+copy+for+sharing.pdf

I'm kind of bummed out that a lot of my Solas videos are missing now since taking down my channel when I was panicking about being stalked online. I was looking and realized I didn't back them all up.
Oh well, live and learn.

Andaran atish'an lethallins and lethallans! This isn't quite Solas related but was just thinking that after I've finished this play through, i prob wont play DA until nearer the time of the release of the 4th game so there's going to be a huge DA shaped (and egg shaped) hole in my life so the first thing I'm going to do to fill the void is replay all the MEs which I've not played for years! Soooo, which is the best romance suited for someone who adores the Solas romance story arc? The one that's the most passionate yet painful. Seriously, i worry about the fact that I enjoy the solavallen hell spiral... I wonder what that says about me? Ha!
Anyhoo, i know about Thane but how much content is there considering... What happens...? Any thoughts?
Like i said, i know its not Solas related but you guys are awesome and since a lot of you are fellow solasmancers, you'll have a good idea what it is I'm after in a romance subplot. Obviously none of them are gonna top secret powerful ancient elven god because lets face it.. That's just fucking hot!

Hmmm...Mass Effect Romances. I've only romanced, Kaidan, Thane and Garrus. I suppose I shall spoiler this, just in case. I loved Thane, but I don't really think that romance is that painful. You know he's going to die from the very beginning, and pretty much after he dies, he's forgotten, unless you play the Citadel DLC, which is a little heartbreaking.
Garrus is very sweet and I love their little tango dance in Citadel, but I wouldn't call the romance passionate since they can't really do anything. To me, it's more like he is a best friend.
Kaidan is my favorite. I know a lot of people find him boring, but I just love the romance so much. It's my cannon. I love how it builds up in the first game. I find it rather passionate, and at the end...when Shepard says goodbye, the look on Kaidan's face.... *sniffles*
I do feel like Liara is the favorite, but since I haven't romanced her, I can't really comment.
Has anyone romanced Ashley? I've never heard anything about her.

I agree with nightsymphony, he's my canon too on ME, if what you liked about the Solas romance was the angst and the passion that's probably the closest one, though to be honest Solas romance is pretty unique I can't say it reminded of anything else
