Elvhenan part II, New Beginnings (if most of the Evanuris died) Elvhenan part II, Here We Go Again (if most Evanuris survived) .. or Rise of the [insert race name here] ... sorry can't help it. Dumb idea just pops up and got over powered by the need to post If Solas were to survive his new attempt at changing the course of history and rectifying his mistake, I doubt he'll like the results any more than he did the first time. In times of great chaos, it's usually the strong and cruel that fill the vacuum of power. The little people, the people he seem to care about in Inquisition, always get the short end of the stick. I doubt he'd like Evhenan, part II any more than he liked part I. ... Which is why I think he expects to do from his taking down of the veil this time around. Heck, perhaps he expected to die the first time too, seeing how much energy he expended that had him sleeping for a few millenia.

I do HOPE that his plans does not consist of "drops veil then dies" ^^' Since the last time he 'placed veil then sleep' did not bode well for the very people he's trying to save. I hope that whatever he's planning next, he has that contingency plan on who should be installed there in the seat of power, to help stem the tide of chaos and confusion, once the veil drops. .. idk, I kept thinking that Solas could partially succeeds on his plans to 'bring down the sky' only that it will not be as he envisioned it. Could be better or worse in varrying degrees (and depending on whose pov)

I love the man, but dang this "plan" seems ill-thought unless there's something big we're missing.

Call me lady optimistic, but I don't see death in Solas' future. He's going to love my Lavellan until they're both ripe and smelly and ready to croak or he'll be sorry. Attachment Deleted But I am counting on his plan.. not going according to plan by 100%

When I 1st saw the Elvhen Sentinels I instantly thought they looked like Solas and I figured he was a runaway ... then came all the revelations. With Fen'harel's statue looking like a guard dog in Mythal's temple, I can't help but wonder if Solas was originally one of her priests or similar? That Mythal later elevated him to the Evanuris' ranks since she saw his potential. Ghilan'nain was a "regular" elvhen whose talents proved useful enough for her to be included in the ranks of the evanuris. He seems to care about the People and maybe she believed he could help them in ways she can't?

He could have been an arcane warrior. Their role in the old days was to act as bodyguards to the nobility. So it would make sense that she elevated one of the rank and file to be her own personal protector, literally watching her back I should imagine. It would also explain the old elven folktale about a trickster warrior who fought against tyrants.
Seem to recall that he speaks of walking the Path of Death when Lavellan wants to go with him. That doesn't seem very optimistic but then again he is known to be grim and fatalistic, so may be he was just being overly dramatic in his description.

Quick question, since you sillies got me thinking on the subject of spirits and spiritual manifestations - do you think that, in ancient Elvhenan, there were spirits of fame and power and such who "manifested" as copies of the Evanuris, as Cole manifested as a copy of, well, Cole?
Obviously this wouldn't make them the same people, since as we see with Cole, even physically manifested spirits must undergo individual growth independent of their "role model" in order to become fully human. Nonetheless, I'd really like someone to write an Arlathan AU where there's fifty copies of Solas running around after he was made Evanuris.

Nonetheless, I'd really like someone to write an Arlathan AU where there's fifty copies of Solas running around after he was made Evanuris. Manifesting or imitating Evanuris could have been regulated the same way taking forms reserved for gods and their chosen was. ... But considering that ancient elves are implied to be gifted shapeshifters and spirits oftentime take forms of others, I think there were other, magical ways of fairly easily identifying who someone is, therefore IF there were 50 shades of copies of Solas running around, a lot of people could probably tell which ones were real - or at the very least which ones weren't.

Sorry for my off topic question. I didn't want to start a thread and since I primarily have been active in this thread I figured I would try my luck here.
My fiance got me a PS4 for Christmas. DAI GOTY is 15 bucks on PSPlus, so I bought it. For the life of me I can not connect to the DA servers. Which means I can't link my PSNID to Origin, which also means I can't use the Keep to import a world state.
I'm not the only one out there that seems to be having this issue. I have exhausted every single troubleshooting tip. I've even gone so far as to completely delete the game and reinstall it. Nope. Still not connecting to DA servers.
Are any of you PS4 players also having this problem?

Maybe the troubleshooting has said this before, but I've found out after having a lot of problems that your ps4 has to be connected to the PS Network while using the same email adress as your DA account. Else, I really don't know

Someone on the EA answers site talked to support and it seems to be if you've never played an EA game on your PS4 before that's where the problem is. Going to download the FIFA demo when I get home and see if that fixes it, because it should have me log into my EA account.
Thanks for replying btw. So if anyone else has this issue, give this a try.

I'd like to share my character with you guys. And holy crap this is much longer than I thought. I'm going to spoiler tag the main story. I had played through the main game twice, but as a dwarven archer (my personal "canon" IQ) and as a human warrior. I'd romanced Bull both times. I did both runs on the PC prior to any of the DLC coming out. When I picked up DA:I for the PS4, I finally played the DLCs the first time. I choose to roll a young and very pretty young elven archer. I had missed being a rogue and I was very curious about the elven side of the story. Little did I know I was in for a helluva ride. Her name was Rowan. In ancient Celtic myth, the rowan tree was used to ward off evil spirits. This tree is unfortunately extinct since it was also a type of Yew. Yew trees were very popular for bows. So naturally she was an archer. I wish I had screenshots of her, but alas I'm on PS4 this time. She wore little makeup, had short dark hair and these really pretty amethyst colored eyes. Her vallaslin was of Mythal, the small branches beneath the eyes. They were almost invisible*, but I had a RP reason for it. Edit: I had it on the faintest setting and almost perfectly matching her skin tone. I got my husband to take a look and he said while it was visible, it looked more like an old scar. I was pretty pleased with that. Also, I had only one big spoiler for Trespasser, which was losing the hand. Otherwise, I came in blind. I was dodging spoilers like Neo dodging bullets as a mod for a bit. Anyway, Rowan was one of the youngest characters I've ever came up with for a BioWare game. The only one younger was my "canon" Cousland, who ended the Blight at the age of 19. Rowan was born in 9:20 Dragon, and was only 22 when she beat Corypheus. Prior to meeting Solas, she was a virgin that had only kissed one other guy. I grew pretty attached to her. Here's a rundown of her story. I know this is headcanon but I'm trying to keep it consistent with the lore. She wasn't born Dalish. She was originally from the Starkhaven alienage. She grew up there, happy enough. Her parents were merchants for the alienage. Rowan's grandmother was Dalish. She had fallen in love with a "flat-ear" and left the clan. Her mother taught her how to read and write Common. Rowan fell in love with reading and books. She was pretty happy for awhile.
When she was 12, (about 9:32 Dragon) the Vael line was up in the air. It looked like it was going to go to the cousin of Sebastian Vael. He was very incompetent (which Seb talks about in DA2) and wasn't ruling well. As a result, there was more gangs and other groups that were bribing the guards. It was becoming similar to the Denerium alienage.
Rowan's parents feared for their daughter and knew they couldn't protect her if a gang so choose. They had already been pressed for extra protection and that "they have a very pretty daughter." This gang had also made it clear what was going to happen to Rowan's parents if they didn't pay up. Her parents didn't have the money and they knew it.
Out of desperation and love, they decided to contact the Dalish clan. Within a week they had cautiously agreed to find the child and take her in. Her parents gave Rowan a teardrop shaped pendant that had the full tree of Mythal engraved in the back. With heavy hearts, they told her where to go to find her grandmother's Dalish clan. The young elf had nothing but that pendant, her favorite book, a bedroll and a warm cloak. She left before dawn one morning. She never heard from them again.
Rowan journeyed for what seemed like forever. In truth, it was only two days. However, she'd become quite ill with exposure. The Dalish found her, sick and shivering on the ground. In her hand, she was clutching the pendant. They took her in and her became part of the clan.
For the next 6 years, things went well for Rowan. The clan was a little leery at first, with some of the other kids calling her "flat-ear." The adults put a stop to that and soon she was treated as well as any born Dalish. Her tales of the shem cities fascinated everyone. When she showed interest in the longbow at the age of 13, the hunters immediately began to teach her. How to move with almost no sound. How to notch the arrow quietly and how to track both rams and shems alike. She lost her city accent and had almost forgotten her old life.
Until the day she was to get her vallaslin. She choose Mythal. She prided herself on helping to feed and protect the clan. The Keeper approached her with the small polished brush, filled with tiny sharpened needles. Bracing herself for the pain, she agreed to the branches. It didn't take as well as it should have. Rather than the magical ink settling into her skin, she began to bleed out. Only the fainest bit of the ink remained. The Keeper agreed to try again in a few days. Rowan was eager to prove herself to her clan and agreed to go through the pain again.
The same thing happened again. All that was left was a faint amount of hazel-colored dye, along with a scar. Rowan wanted to try again, but the Keeper refused. She was worried about further scarring ruining Rowan's eyesight. Everything changed for good that day.
She was no longer a beloved member of the Dalish. Her former friends were calling her "flat-ear", "Chantry-lover," and everything else they could think of. Most of the adults look away or smirk at these comments. Rowan responded by expressing her doubts about the Creators, stating that they could have been merely powerful mages. That didn't endear her to the others but by this point she no longer cared.
Over the next three years, Rowan spent less and less time at camp. She preferred to be alone, tracking game or tracking shems. She began to sneak into some small villages and homes to borrow books. She would take them at night and return them the following evening. Local legends of a "spirit of learning with a love of books" circulated as a result.
She spent most evening meals near the statue of the Dread Wolf, usually looking for intruders. She was terribly lonely but had long learned to live with loneliness. Rowan did become one of the best scouts and hunters in her clan. She had her books and her thoughts. She wasn't happy, but she wasn't unhappy either. Until the day the Keeper told her she had to head south. She was perfect for Solas. I'm going to miss her. I've been playing D&D and other RPGs since 1988. Every now and then I have a character that just clicks with me. Rowan was one of those characters. At the end of Trespasser, I was sniffling for my own aching emotions, but I did briefly cry for her. I know how dorky and sad that sounds, but I felt like I just watched a friend get her heart smashed more than once.

CapricornSun Would you be willing to repost that image of a Lavallen reading while leaning on the statue of the Dread Wolf? When I saw that I immediately thought of Rowan. Oh and thanks so much for the art bumps. There has been some amazing works you've shared with the rest of us. Solas I was lurking on the final day of the BioWare forums. I saw the comment to end all comments on the BSN. Well done good sir! You've personally done a fantastic job of making this into a fun place to discuss all things Solas. Thanks for doing that, salroka. I have a newfound love of the elves thanks to DA:I. The stories and art in this thread have helped with that as well. That being said, dwarves are still my favorite race. I do want to see how these two separated races finally start interacting. Besides, DA:I finally did it. I connected with an elven PC as much as I had with my dwarven one. That's quite the feat.

so random thought that's probably been thought of before.
IF any other elven orbs remain, they may be in the hands of Tevinter Magisters. Perhaps that is why Inky is following Solas that direction

sugarquill: I sympathise for you. Maybe I sorta can relate that with the feeling when someone starts saying all sorts of nasty things about 'x character' only to admit later on s/he didn't bother to make some decent effort to try and get to know what the whole deal is about. .. yeah. The power of the mighty finger compels me to just scroll through and erase them from memory XD One thing powerful and amazing about DAI for me is the more I played the game, the more I get to love the characters within it. Some small things I didnt notice on the first run, now got cought within my radar and I began to understand them a little better and appreciate them much more. And wow they are amazing. My Lavellan may not romance Blackwall and Solas, but I'd like to picture (warning: Headcanon teritorry) that both men has deep feelings for her, just not in a romantic kind of way. Blackwall is drawn to her because of her firm leadership but not without compassion. She forgives and allows him to be the best man he could be and he finally found a boss whom he's willing to give up his life for. Solas loves her because she somewhat ended up being his good friend despite him not wanting to. He 'up lift' her because it was a necessity at first, but then chuckles at the thought of him accidentally made her his 'Herald' : saved her life, allow her to carry his Mark and use it conveniently, gives her his old crib, teaches her a thing or two and help her grow into this magnificent individual that forces the rest of Thedas to look her up with mixed feelings of awe, reverance and fear. And his chest swells with pride because of it. And it made him especially even more sad and broken hearted because in the end he knows he's the one who is going to betray her and bring forth the chaos into her world and home. I headcanon before marching to face corypheus for the last time, she shouted to her inner circle and her board of advisors before leaving, "Maker be with you all and Fen'Harel ma ghillana." ... A proud dalish whom for the most part of her life being taught to hate the dread wolf, but able to piece the puzzle together and realized that he was not the bad guy back then. She flips and began asking for his guidence now. .. I can hear his heart shattering to a million pieces. Sorry for the long post XD didnt mean to get this long.

Maybe they sorta figure it out that Tevinter is sitting on a big chunk of old Elvhenan and tries to unearth some of it's secrets. Either it's another orb, some secrets about eluvian and who knows, maybe other 'crossroads' that Solas isnt aware of (could be because it was broken last time but somehow someone managed to fix it without him knowing), or could be that like corypheus, IQ is now scrambling to get her/his hands on any elvhen knowledge and artifacts as much as possible. One thing I can't wait is if they finally showed the whole population that the gilden city was infact the 'spiritiual' aspect (in lack of better words) of Arlathan being chained to the fade. Then the Dalish gets to LoL at the humans, "Ooh? You got it wrong too?"

It's really cool reading the rich backgrounds that people give to their characters for someone as little creative as me. I only have a few tidbits of things like that, even for my canon, like I always imagine her not being a very dalish-y dalish, because she surely it's very curious about elven history, but she doesn't believe in any kind of gods and I can't help but thinking that running away from the clan just to see new faces is always a big temptation for her , in fact I've headcanoned that she was the one that asked for permission to go to the conclave. And I definitely cannot picture her as being racist with humans and caring only about the elves, let alone caring only about dalish elves. I see her though like a very mag-y mage, and I imagine that when she interrumpted the ritual was only because she was nosing around, looking for books about circle-magic and things like that to borrow . She surely should have been curious about what other people knew about magic and I think she spends most of her free time in skyhold in the library and asking Dorian and Solas things about other magic traditions. That makes the arcane knowledge a must for me, always the first perk I get (though I feel that even with it, she still sounds a little magic-ignorant in some situations) Also, she's a healer, even if unofficially, because all my canon mages are, and after some doubts I finally decided that she wears Sylaise vallaslin (the one that only covers one eye). since I cannot make her a healer in game, I always go for the closest thing, so I focus on defensive spells, I give her the Knigh-Enchanter specialization and the kitty's collar, and I like to think that she's this tiny elf, that looks so fragil but that turns out to be freakingly resilient I even use her as tank sometimes, jut to get banter between companions that I'd hardly get together otherwise. It'd be perfect if there was any light armor that I actually like, but as usual (I'm hard to please ) there isn't, so I have her battling dragons and whatnot in the same clothes she wears in Skyhold And I think that's pretty much it, that's all I have about her :/

Amazing isnt it?
How one game has the ability to drag out the creativity within us and we get to spew a plethora of characters with different stories, backgrounds, personalities, what ticks said Lavellan, as your Lavellan sure as heck is different than mine

close2myheart I'd love to read about your Lavellan and anyone else that feel like talking about her!!, I never asked this before because I I haven't been here for a long, long while, but I thought most of you might be bored by now of talking about this kind of things but if someone it's not...
