I haven't seen that, sorry, but is does sound very interesting. When you create the post on tumblr, could you give us the link here? Also, I stalk follow Patrick Weekes on Twitter, to get some Solas information, but I've never seen any, I always see it somewhere else. Twitter is just tragic as a source of information (or maybe I just don't know how to use it). I will if I ever find it. Twitter does have an advanced search and I've been trying that but I'm just not getting results. But BioWare said Twitter is so much better! They said!!

Hah, nah I understand. I'm an hardcore completionnist and right after finishing my first PT, i had to force myself to take a 3 days break before restarting another one right away. What the hell that's the first time this happens to me lol. With such long games, I always reach this point when I just want to go to the end of the scenario and move on, but THIS ONE. This one game. This isn't even a game anymore. It became a lifestyle for me. Even without playing I feel as if I were. Because now my mind is inside for ever. And yes these emsrhsgmehm cutescenes were a huge part of it lol Maybe I'm afraid to bore out myself if I play too much, just like you can make yourself hate any music track by listening to it all day long This game brings me life and I never want it to stop That might be it Maybe try (if you haven't already) the nightmare difficulty with some trials on? For me it was like I played new game, gameplay wise. I had to use actual tactic instead of mindlessly rushing into the battle.I had rage quit when fighting the leader of Jaws of Hakkon and even had to lower the difficulty. I'm hardcore completionist too. In latest playthrough I swore to myself that I won't do the Hinterlands. Yet before I went to slay Coryfish I really wanted to listen more bater, so I ended up with collecting all mosaic pieces, all bottles and shards and did all the MMO side quests. I just couldn't let it go... I did only 3 playthroughs but I have recorded most of the cutscenes and I just watch them from time to time. I accidentally learned most of the Solas dialogue by heart. I think I may be obsessed. I had a lot of trouble with that battle too. I'm glad it wasn't just me, sucking at games. I hate lowering the difficulty once I start a game so it was a difficult decision to make. I'm a completionist too. Must gather ALL the shards! TOP! My own screenshot will do.

Is there a guide how to win this fight? I had no problem with anything before that fight (even those 4 avaar mages just before) and after I returned to nightmare I practically soloed the Hakkon himself. All I ever find is "craft your own gear and weapons" and so on. Maybe different party configuration? I had Cassandra, Cole, Dorian and fire knight enchanter. Cassandra was great tank and she never failed me, Cole was undying killer machine (Kitty Collar is the best item in the game), Vivienne would be probably better choice, but I like Dorian a lot more and with my knight enchanter Lavellan I solo killed all three Emprise du lion high dragons using only two health potions. Yet for 4 hours my party was obliterated by this boss in the first minutes of fight, until I lowered the difficulty. Great screenshot by the way.

*popping in with a question out of the blue*
This is something I started pondering last night.
You how when I go into the Fade at Adamant, Solas says the place belongs to the Nightmare demon? And then you have to fight lesser spirits which seem to serve the Nightmare?
So it just dawned on me that spirits have their own power hierarchy that we (or at least I) know almost nothing about.
Do you think there are spirit empires and spirit rulers in the Fade? Or perhaps they have something like democracy in Ancient Greece?
Or maybe they were under the ruling of the Evanuris until the Veil went up, but since then things have been somewhat chaotic in the Fade, but they do listen to Fen'harel?

I appreciate how you tried to make the place look a bit like home but I must admit, it's still sort of sad to lose the original BSN. :-( Hey there Siha, welcome. Yeah, this is the official "Blanketfort 2". Some threadusers also participate in their capacity as individuals on places like RDF and Elfroot Club. Tried to make Blanketfort 2 as familiar as possible, and the wider community and admins etc here on cBSN/BSNb/BSNu seem to be trying to do the same thing for the forum as a whole with things like layout, subforums, themes, major threads etc. It's awesome, but still I'm real sad to lose the original thread and the original BSN, think that's pretty natural. sux. kick in the nads thx bw

Yes, if I recall in DAO and DA2 it was stated there is a demon hierarchy, and that they fight each other for control over different realms in the fade. Pride and Desire demons are supposed to be the most intelligent and cunning, and so are at the top of the hierarchy. It's unknown how the non demonic counterparts work, or if there are actually kingdoms. But given we have both a golden and black city, I'm going to guess there might be. The throne of the "Maker" in the Golden City could be where the most powerful spirit resides, which is why they all want to get there.

Or maybe they were under the ruling of the Evanuris until the Veil went up, but since then things have been somewhat chaotic in the Fade, but they do listen to Fen'harel? Finally a good topic to do the theorycrafting! When we ask Solas about his travels in the Fade, he says that he encountered powerful spirit of emotion that no one remembers, and it was the king of big part of the Fade Solas was visiting. In DA: Origins we are visiting place in the Fade which is domain of certain sloth demon and we have to kill his guardians. I think that spirits have hierarchy based on their sentience. Spirits with greatest sentience have strongest will and are able to shape the "reality" in the fade to suit their purpose. For example Nightmare lair responds to dreamers by creating the most horrible visions for particular pearson. It's probable that most of the spirits in the fade have sentience on the similar level to animals and have cat-human relationship with powerful spirits (more powerful spirits give them shelter and place to act on their purpose, but those spirits are more or less independent). The most sentient ones with their own domain in fade would probably have completely neutral relations with their neighbours. We know that the Fade is virtually endless, so the most prosperous domains would simply inflate themselves rather than consume others. If Fade was just state of nature in times of Arlathan, and ancient elf passing through place of high fade density would said "the fade is thick, finally I can easily shape reality around me today and finish that 1 kilometer high sculpture I was doing for last millennium" and from codexes we encounter in Vir Dirthara we can assume that sentient spirits were equal to elves members of society, we can easily assume that ultimate God-kings, the Evanuris ruled the Fade too. Maybe the spirits would be prefered governors of those areas? tl;dr Spirits have hierarchy based on sentience, more sentient spirits have lesser spirit cats and Evanuris were so awesome that they have ruled the Fade too.

And then you have to fight lesser spirits which seem to serve the Nightmare? I never really thought about it, i assumed it was like Oblivion if you played it : demon domains everywhere, each one ruled by their own lord who does whatever mischief they want inside. In a codex from ancient tevinter I believe they said they had found 12 domains of lord demons before giving up because one does not simply map the everchanging fade. I really don't see why they would even obey fen'harel, do they even obey anything outside of some pact stuff ? And it's hardly ever real obeying. Hm. spirit and demons are reflects of our emotions so I believe they are all theorically "equals" but in the facts, there's a hierarchy in power and so as one would expect, it gets "kill or get killed" very soon and that's probably how lordship would appear ? bleh idk I'm sorry if I'm wrong Why drawing happy Solavellan is so difficult? I KNOW RIGHT !! Why can't it be canon FFS (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Hmgerlkjmsg the feels my friend, you did well, all the feels are here I did only 3 playthroughs but I have recorded most of the cutscenes and I just watch them from time to time. WAIT A MIN. I need clarification over something, maybe I'm just dumb and I forgot about something because i wasn't paying attention at some crucial codex or dialogue, BUT : In my previous post I wrote "spirit and demons are born from our emotions" and edited it as "spirit and demons are reflects of our emotions" because we're told this a few times in the games but my brain found a paradox here.
Weren't there spirits before emotions ? Spirits are supposed to be a part of any life form aren't they ? Or at first everyone was tranquil and suddenly emotions appeared, and then spirits formed in a mirrored process in the fade, and the tranquils started sheltering some of them naturally, makin emotions spread everywhere and so plenty other spirits would appear and so on ?? Gzajgheuzjh does anyone know anything about this

Haaaahh I wish I could record it >_< I need a job to get moneys to buy the strongest PC™ ever made and 2000To of space and i swear i'll record and screenshot everysingle pixel of this game in ULTRA HD GRAPHICS™ The Oblivion realm of Daedra was premise to my Spirit theory as well. I love TES lore, but we must remember that spirits are Schrodinger's cats, both benevolent and malevolent until observed. We can easily categorize Nightmare as malevolent because he is so sentient that he choose to be. We can assume that some benevolent spirits have their domains too, for example Solas says that Wisdom had a place where she used to dwell. Maybe the most sentient good spirits create their domains far form where dreamers spawn to shelter themselves from people's corrupting influences? I feel you! My first DAI playthrough was on the potato which run it 8-17 FPS. The pain was insufferable. Luckily when I got perfect score on finals and got accepted to university and my family gave me money, I bought gaming laptop. You know for science! To be honest it really came in handy many times.

(And then spirits became elves who turned against titans?... That's sad.)

(I'm still getting like 18fps but I regret nuthin) So what if titans came first and the original spirits were born of their emotions? (And then spirits became elves who turned against titans?... Random observation: I completed "Anvil of the Void" yesterday and it struck me the Void might be located in the Deep Roads. Could its location be what the ancient elves discovered before Solas stopped them?
In the legend Fen'Harel tricked the Forgotten Ones and sealed them there, and in Trespasser we find out Solas had part of the Deep Roads sealed and memories erased.
My theory: The Blight and the Void are connected and the Black City once golden might have been something in Arlathan that Solas placed in the Void, but when he formed the Veil it ended up trapped in the Fade?

Now about this paradox - didn't we have this convo on discord where someone mentioned titan dreams fueling the Fade? So what if titans came first and the original spirits were born of their emotions? (And then spirits became elves who turned against titans?... That's sad.) At first I wanted to disagree with theory that Titans are responsible for Spirits' creation, but then I thought about that a bit and it's the perfect solution for "which came first? Spirit or emotion" dilemma. Titans to spirits are like the monocellular organisms are to the chicken (in "which same first? Chicken or egg")! We know that Titans were before the elves started building their civilization and that Elgar'nan made the ground stable for them by fighting the Pillars of earth. So everything is in the place. As for elves turning against their initial creators, the Titans? What if most of the elves at that time were descendants of spirits created by Titans' dreams? The first spirits are created, they start to reflect themselves in the Fade and start to shape it around them, they don't know anything about the world, nor who created them. Then more spirits are born from the reflection of first spirits ("if the memory of idea shaped new spirits" Solas dialogue about Spirit death, those recordings really come in handy now) and then they become elves without knowledge of their origin, witnesses of random spirit spawning and with uneven ground under their feet. And now we have the conflict. EDIT: @ladyamell - Current community consensus is that Void is like really deep Fade or Deep Roads (well not exactly, because they haven't existed in time of Arlathan) and the blight is some kind of defense mechanism of Titans, or even biological weapon created by Evanuris. Forgotten ones are political rivals of Evanuris which didn't wanted to conform to their rule (it would explain that Solas was kind of friends with them, but eventually screwed them too) and Golden city = Arlathan (if you want your evil overlords out, why not Veil the whole their hive, maybe that's what Solas first intended. To simply cut out corupted Arlathan from reality?).

Or maybe some unpopular people (ahem, I can think of one) found out the truth, tried to tell the rest, but they wouldn't listen?

Jisandra Thank you for the clarification! I wondered if there might be a connection. I recall Cole saying "They made bodies from the earth. And the earth was afraid. It fought back. But they made it forget." And both The Architect and Corypheus have a Darkspawn look but are the ones who entered Black City. It seems the Black City is the heart of the Blight. Two things I found odd about the Black City. In the opening to DAO we see black feathers with orange eyes on the tips like a peacock. Both Morrigan and Flemeth wear similar feathers, and in Trespasser Solas painted a mural of the feathers with a faded city behind it. And the second thing is Solas had a look of longing when he saw the Black City. He looked sad and Cole also comments on it in banter.

Yep this is what I had in mind, but explained way more eloquently that I could. The elves didn't really know they are turning against their original creators. Or maybe some unpopular people (ahem, I can think of one) found out the truth, tried to tell the rest, but they wouldn't listen? Someone really caught the meaning of my post, cutting through dense bushes of typos and grammatical mistakes and called it eloquent? It really flatters me. Thank you. I don't think that Solas found out and even if he would he wouldn't have got attached to idea. Of course he floods Varric with dwarfy questions and says "dwarves are the severed arm of a once mighty hero, lying in a pool of blood" (hahah the hero being Titan and the blood lyrim...Solas is sometimes so unintentionally funny!) but he is too much dlf-centred for me to rally address this problem in the past. EDIT: @ladyamell - "They made bodies from the earth. And the earth was afraid. It fought back. But they made it forget." SWEET MYTHAL! I haven't even considered this quote when writing, yet it confirms it so well! As for peacock feathers in western culture peacocks are symbol of hubris. It can be easily translated that their deed was too prideful, it being one of biggest man sins and that the blight exist solely to humiliate man. Morrigan wears magpie feathers, because her name is originating from Celtic goddess, which was associated with this bird and they were present because of design reasons, or those are crow feathers because one of animals that she can turn in is crow and in many fantastic worlds it's necessary for shapeshifter to have piece of animal which they are turning in. As for Flemythal, those appear to be rooster tail feathers and are there simply for ornamental purposes. Or Flemythal can change in giant rooster. I want to see it. And Solas painted eyes, which could symbolise spirits, witch observe the waking world constantly.

Jisandra Remember when Morrigan says Flemeth turned into a giant bird to rescue Alistair and the Warden? Now I'm seeing a huge Rooster swooping down and plucking them off of the tower

A note given the recent feedback/comments/thanks etc on forum changes like the movement of the Like button, they seem really open to feedback/suggestions in the forum feedback subforum, and you can express thanks there too not saying 'don't discuss it here' btw, just highlighting the subforum for anyone who may not know about it

That is exactly how I saw it and you actually made the Rooster look like Flemeth! Love it

I will if I ever find it. Twitter does have an advanced search and I've been trying that but I'm just not getting results. But BioWare said Twitter is so much better! They said!! I've got a a few bridges to sell you in the Exalted Plains, too.
