I am kind of embarrassed to admit that my first thought on seeing this was "Wow, does Solas ever look like Mr. Clean in this painting."

Perhaps, as you say, the Veil's creation did trigger the Blights, but I have no theory on that. Could ddj or someone else elaborate on how the creation of the Veil may have triggered the Blights? I always wondered if the Evanuris did something to trigger the Blights, and the Veil was meant to somehow keep the Blight contained. Thoughts? I tend to think it had more to do with what the Magisters did since the timing of the Blight appearances coincides with the Magisters entering the Black City.

I would like to see a Thedas without a Veil. It would make for an interesting world setting. But if there are games to be released later then they'll most likely have to keep the world state the same for everyone. If the devs plan on the Veil coming down then it will come down regardless of our choices. That or a Thedas without the Veil will simply be disappointingly similar to a Thedas with the Veil. Or maybe the change will end up being gradual, maybe we can manage to compromise and have the Veil fade (no pun intended) slowly over time. So many possibilities! To be honest, given Sandal's prophecy in DA2, I'd be disappointed if the Veil didn't come down.

I've been messing around with flycam again. Screenshot spam! I know it's wrong, but this is his punishment for breaking up with Lavellan. The "Freeze-your-nips-off" method.

QuizzyBunny *hug bunny* You're not a failure! Junkfood is helpful, yes? As for the armor, it does looks odd. (He kind of looks like Turtle!Solas.) Plus, it's Qunari armor which is just wrong. I was just messing around with some things. edit: I didn't intend to take screenshots of him. The camera panned over to him so I had to. *shake fist at Solas* stupid sexy egghead.

You are all very sweet, and it has made me feel... well, at least slightly less crappy. It just feels so heartbreaking to study so hard and then (probably) fail because the teacher decided to quiz stuff that wasn't in the book or the lectures. Sad bunny is sad

Sad bunny is sad Er .. how would you even know to study that if it had never been gone over in the book or lectures? Quizzes are supposed to test on things you've learned during the class not things you might have randomly picked up on your own. That sucks and you shouldn't feel crappy about that. Edit to add: That's like going to Spanish class only to be told the test will be on quantum physics. ><

So I was thinking about those codex entries in the Temple of Mythal, the ones given by veilfire runes that are in ancient elven writing and can only be understood if the Inquisitor drinks from the Well. I think they may end up being important or at least clues to what has happened or what's going to happen, if only because of the way they're hidden. The writers do like to do things like that. And I've seen some of them discussed in the old thread. The one I haven't really seen talked about is this one: dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Codex_entry:_Unreadable_Elven_WritingHere is the text: "She shook the radiance of the stars, divided them into grains of light, then stored them in a shaft of gold. Andruil, blood and force, save us from the time this weapon is thrown. Your people pray to You. Spare us the moment we become Your sacrifice." There is a brief image of an elaborate golden spear, glowing with unbearable heat. Then it fades. Andruil is typically depicted with a bow, not a spear but then the "she" who created the spear may not have been Andruil at all and the one who wrote this may have just been asking Andruil to save them. At any rate, we've already come across a powerful ancient elven artifact (the orb) and I can't help but wonder why the writers specifically put this as a semi-hidden codex.

I like your take on this and it would be interesting if it is referring to another goddess. Someone else definitely could have made the weapon, most likely Sylaise, who was known for crafting things as well as June did, and for having very hot breath (as a dragon I guess). Song to Sylaise Sylaise, whose heat rivals Elgar'nan's light. Sylaise, whose temples rival Mythal's cities. Sylaise, whose breath rivals Andruil's spear. Sylaise, whose skill rivals June's craft. Sylaise, whose fire cannot be quenched. We give ourselves gladly to your service. But the spear is marked to belong to Andruil, and if Sylaise was the envious/jealous type that her Song portrays, I'm not sure she would have made it for her.

To be honest, given Sandal's prophecy in DA2, I'd be disappointed if the Veil didn't come down. I have mixed feelings about it. Also, "nothing is inevitable" seemed to be one of the threads woven into DAI, and I'm pretty sure that could be extended to prophecies.

Yeah, Solas claimed he stopped the Evanuris and the Forgotten Ones (whoever they may be), from destroying the world, and it seems to have involved a massive arms race which demanded mutually assured destruction.

I did not realize that only Well-drinking Inquisitors got to read those temple murals in English (or a localized language of their choice). Now I feel better about having drunk the Well. It seemed like Morrigan got more out of it than the Inquisitor (based on YouTube videos of various people's playthroughs) so I'm glad that my non-mage Inquisitor has some justification for asserting that the Well would not be wasted on her if she drank instead of Morrigan.

It makes sense. My concerns are mainly that everyone's PC would have magic in the Veil-less world and I'm one of those blasphemers that prefers playing a non-mage. Also, while the world Solas remembers does really sound interesting, I'm not sure how gripping it would be for the rest of the games in the DA series (however many that may be). They've put so much time and effort into establishing the lore that they have, and so many of the conflicts and moral dilemmas that currently exist in Dragon Age games would be rendered rather toothless by everyone being a mage and living with spirits/demons, I think. I am certain that a Veil-less world could provide new conflicts, but I have trouble imagining what they might be. I think what would be cool is for us to actually see the pre-Veil world (or at least Solas' memory of it, or another ancient elf's memory of it) in a dream or a Fade-type major quest. So we'd get to experience it a little for a while, but then we'd be back in the familiar world of Thedas that we have come to know and love.

I do think we'll be getting the Veil-less world, but that it'll mark the end of the franchise. I think they were planning for five games, and especially in the next game it would make sense that they wouldn't show a world without Veil too soon because it'll interrupt exploration of areas (Tevinter, Qunari, Dwarven, probably a few others) we haven't seen yet.
