And I have a gut feeling that maybe Liara is the benefactor? What if the new Mass Effect is going to show the story of putting together the whole Andromeda Initiative? Like recruiting crucial people who will go to the new galaxy, getting funds to build the arks. Maybe the Geth do play some substantial role in it with providing the intel on Andromeda and some labor force? Liara was very dedicated to preserve all the information about the fate of the Milky Way Galaxy in case Reapers manage through the cycle of extinction. And we do have her messages with "advices" how to do research on an extinct race... So maybe somehow she new what Andromeda might be like when we get there? I think that the Benefactor might be her backed up by some other people for example Garrus' father who we get to see in Ryder's memories... And Shadow Broker was a very influential figure in the Trilogy so?  |

It's like there's a plot hole in Liara becoming the Shadow Broker after two years... OK so suppose the archaeologist thing was just a cover? Once Shep was dead, she went to her true job as half-trained commando but full-on info broker? Honestly, makes more sense with her development than what we got. This allows her to secretly be the Benefactor.
