He came across more as Harbinger to me. Especially the assuming direct control version.
But whoever designed the face should be slapped, the shape looked like a kid to me all game.

I prefer him to Corypheus, I think, but an imitation of Saren? I don't see that. They tried to make Kai Leng Shepards rival but he wasn't, Saren was. The Archon is kinda like Harby but his interest in species is both curiosity and condescending, whereas Harby was just condescending since he knew about all the MW species already.

His face is more like that of a marmoset or a capuchin. It's very difficult to take him seriously.
And that's the major theme of Mass Effect Andromeda. The entire game is very difficult to take seriously.

Archon was the most disappointing character for me. One of the things I love about Mass Effect is that the bad guys aren't really bad guys, but good guys with good intentions who became corrupted without realising it. Then along came Archon The Totally Generic Villain. I really wish they would've at least given him a proper backstory.
But to answer the question: Yes. He's a poor man's Saren with a dash of Harby.

I don't think Saren or TIM were ever really good guys. A super-cop and a black ops soldier? They weren't exactly criminals...but anyway, maybe they weren't exactly good guys, but they had good intentions and genuinely wanted to help people. Yeah, they were pretty fucked up about it from the get-go - Saren's a raging racist for example - but they certainly weren't your average run of the mill generic villains. |

I'm not the sort to care for "companion novels" and other sorts of money-grabbing fluff, so I can't comment on extended universe stuff, only in-game experiences. However, I will say that racism doesn't make someone a villain, it makes them an arsehole, two entirely different things. |
