Who would want anything to do with Liara in the first place? That's the real question. As a Prothean expert? Sure. As an information broker/spymaster? Hell no! Liara is the very definition of a Mary Sue. Thereforth she can do whatever the writer wants.

Don’t want a prequel and don’t want a full-blown Andromeda sequel. If it’s (largely) a return to the MW post-trilogy, then I can work with the rest. Fortunately, judging by the teaser it looks as though I might be in luck.
Hopefully a return to linearity as well. The OW nature of MEA, I found incredibly tedious.
Given the state of BW’s output for the past decade a return to safe ground on all fronts wouldn’t be the worst idea.

Hopefully we never do a return to linearity. The claustrophobic nature of ME2 and ME3 corridors, I found incredibly tedious. Thankfully we now have 16GB of memory even on consoles so it'll not happen because of that anymore at least

They'll stick to the open world because that's the current trend in AAA-RPGs.

No, I don’t think any future game would return to exactly the same level of linearity as the OT either, however there’s plenty of space between that and what MEA was shooting for.
I’m not sure how many more chances ME will get. Another MEA and it’s probably dead. For that reason alone I think we’re likely to see a return to safer ground, certainly in terms of story/location, and possibly gameplay.
I’m not against OW per se, but MEA didn’t get it right for me, it felt too much like a chore.

I'm hoping they keep most of the gameplay from MEA, it was really fun! If they decide to go back to a more corridor-shooter they'd have to do quite a few revisions though.

I think they'd go after the model of most of the OW games out there, where there will be large open areas, but the missions will be more linear/corridor shooty. But I honestly couldn't care less about how they tackle it. It makes no difference to me, whatsoever. Hell, it could be infinite pac-man levels and I wouldn't bat an eye. Exaggeration, of course.

That's what DAI and MEA already were, though.

That's what DAI and MEA already were, though. Well ... technically. DA:I had its share of "open world" maps that were funneled to series of corridors. I'm thinking more along something like ME1 open world, with a little better ground geometry, especially since now we have the Hammerhead, sorry, I mean the Mudskipper, to play around with.

Guess that confirms the trailer was all symbolic rather than actual clues, since they are just now going to start work on the narrative.

I guess the N7 finding piece is mostly likely the symbolic part of the trailer. Other then Gamble's words (as well as other hints on hidden pieces of informations in the teaser), it'd made little sense to place those three characters in the background if they don't mean anything, as they could've very well not have them being present at all.
A question for who has more knowledge on the matter, but isn't the hiring of new people to the team/expand the dev team a good sign, overall? I figure there wouldn't be a huge need to add more people to the team in the earlier stages of pre-production.

You need them, to show Liara smiling at something. But you can't have Liara smiling at nobody and/or people that mean absolutely nothing. The smile could’ve worked by her smiling about seeing the N7 tag, though. But regardless, we agree on those characters. I know where we are, I was wondering if hiring new people means the project is going well, for now. I didn’t mean to imply they were ready to finish with pre production or close to show anything. Given Bioware’s history, I’m not expecting anything to come out this year, NME related, although if this prediction will be right, they’ll fall on the same path of DA4, which so far it’s been a mistake, marketing wise.

I know where we are, I was wondering if hiring new people means the project is going well, for now. I can tell you it's going. The well is dependent on a lot of factors, not all internal. Given Bioware’s history, I’m not expecting anything to come out this year, NME related, although if this prediction will be right, they’ll fall on the same path of DA4, which so far it’s been a mistake, marketing wise. Absolutely. They came out with it way too early, but they wanted to break some "good" news, even if the actual releases are far off. So here's a rumour that you should find an ocean for, dry it and pick up the salt left over for it. Read it, skip it, avoid it, up to you, you're all grown adults to make up your own mind. Feel free to call me full of shit at the end of it all, some conventions I like to keep, because that's what makes me feel at home. I think I can safely say that DA4 is projected for 2023, I think most people get that. 2 years per Bioware release is the plan, we got the LE in '21, after Anthem in '19 and Andromeda in '17, DA4 is optimistically expected in '23 which we may not hit, but EA and Bioware will do their best to reach it. This might mean another gruesome crunch, but that is the plan and the company is going to stick to it. There is a window for Q1 2024. Both parties want to desperately avoid it, because of the underlying implications.
