I apologize for the wonkiness of how I'm editing my post; but it needs a change <snip> Fixed. I'm not sure why that's happening UpUp. I know Yummy has been doing some stuff behind the scenes, I'll ask her if she has any ideas.

Yeah the next Mass Effect should have some strange planets. I also still say weird new aliens. Intelligent weird aliens, not just bizarre looking animals. If I'm going to run into a giant cerebellum with a mustache, I want to talk to it. So that's where Freddie got to.

My ranking is ME2 ME3 ME1-MEA
I have a hard time picking between 1 and Andromeda, I preferred 1s story and characters but the gameplay shows its age and is pretty rough. MEA has really solid gameplay, though I prefer ME3s gameplay to it.
I like them all quite a bit so last place is still a damn good game for me.

Duh... But then shouldn’t ME3 be on the top of the lists since he has more lines and screen time in that one? No. The way they kill him off in the end is just plain horrible IMO. He's but a shadow of what he was in ME2. ME3 left a bad taste in my mouth from the get go. It really felt like Shepard's control was taken out of my hands and some how became a more predefined version of him. My main Shepard was played more as a hardcore soldier that bet everything on results as opposed to moral decisions. My psychological profile was... " Ruthless: Throughout your military career, you have held fast to one basic rule: get the job done. You've been called cold, calculating, and brutal. Your reputation for ruthless efficiency makes your fellow soldiers wary of you. But when failure is not an option, the military always goes to you first. The Ruthless character sent 3/4ths of his/her unit to its death and murdered surrendering batarians on Torfan." So why the hell would "My" Shepard care about a kid's ship being blown up or the Kaidan/Ashley injury on Mars and then the following PTSD? The entire game goes against this profile. For me the ending wasn't as bad as the lead up to it. Which leads me to not understanding how people could have ME3 on the top of so many lists. /Rant

I like how this is now a ranking thread.
1. ME2 - better combat and expanded the galaxy through more personal stories.
2. ME1 - the beginning. A bit rough but sometimes I like just having that feeling of it being before it all.
3. ME3 - I do love the combat and even priority Earth and the endings. It is the end of the journey though, a bittersweet feeling.
4. MEA - Great combat and I like Ryder and crew. Just because it's last, doesn't mean I don't love it.
Since this is a speculation thread I will just say what I would love for the next Mass Effect to have:
Squadmates:
Male Batarian Male volus Female krogan Female Angaran Male Quarian Male of new Andromeda race Female of another new Andromeda race Female Drell And of course one male human and one female human. Throw in a Turian or an asari or a third new race member if you want.
Combat/weapons I would like to see jump jets remain, but heavy weapons return. How cool would it be to hover while launching nukes from my an idea I have: the mini Cain. An automatic mini nuker.
If your playing as a vanguard, it'd be cool to charge with a sword drawn if one is equipped.
I speculate for the next Mass Effect... Total banging. I can decorate my captains quarters in shag carpet if I want! Or plaidweave.
That is all... For now

Throw in a Turian or an Asari or a third new race member if you want. Their record was 12 squad members is one game, including DLC, so this many is possible. I'd be happy to have some characters on the ship they I can interact with like squad and do missions with/for but that don't generally come out on runs. I wouldn't want a Volus on my squad for instances.

I honestly do not understand why ME2 is on the top of so many lists. Some of us had never heard of ME1 till we started playing ME2 and the writing was intertwined so well with the visuals. Jack as a silhouette with red renegade background, lovingly holding her pistol talking about killing everyone she comes across will stick with me for a while longer yet. The number of ways it could end the collectors as Protheans for a reveal. The finale. It plays out so smoothly too every piece fits.

I honestly do not understand why ME2 is on the top of so many lists. It's funny because even some people who find ME2 grossly out of place in the trilogy still like it best. I thought it was the weakest as far as storyline, practically right from the start when we get Space Jesus (though a tad over the three day mark). It didn't help that Shepard failed to explain in any way to A/K why he/she went missing for two years.
Now, as much as I hate the idea, I get why Shepard stayed with Cerberus for the short-term. The Council has a history of ignoring Shepard when it comes to major threats. Hell, they understood everything at the end of ME1 but within weeks they were already moving into "it's really the geth" mode. They're idiot politicians who don't have a clue. The Alliance isn't much better, though at least by the beginning of ME3 they have some understanding, which is why Shepard was under protection from the batarians who were "slightly miffed" that 300,000 of their people had been killed by Shepard to stop the Reapers from coming through the Alpha Relay. As Anderson said, the Alliance could have locked Shepard up but instead kept him under guard and brought him into meetings to discuss the issue. When the Reapers attacked, it wasn't that the Alliance was in disbelief that they were a coming threat so much as they didn't understand the sheer magnitude of power the Reapers possessed.
All of that explains the Cerberus stuff (even though I hate it) but it's a massive departure from the main storyline, except in DLC. In some respects, fighting the Collectors would have worked best in ME1 to illustrate exactly the intentions of the Reapers. Shepard would go through the Omega-4 relay, destroy the Collector homeworld and return with "no evidence" to support the Reaper threat. It would seem like it was just some crazy, powerful aliens behind it all.
The, in ME2, we'd essentially get a lot of what we saw in ME1, which is Sovereign arriving, using its indoctrinated puppet, and attacking the Citadel. ME3 would mostly follow the same course. My take. Still, I don't want to remake to "fix" the issues.

Ashley Williams calling my ultra-paragon Shepard a traitor to his face after he saved her *ss on Horizon will stick with me too.
But for VERY different reasons.
The Prothean reveal was a huge letdown, imo. Only Mordin had what I'd call an appropriate response.

According to Shepard, he/she was kept out of the loop when hearing Anderson call A/K Lt. Commander and Major. Ah, okay. For some reason I was misremembering things and thought Shepard said something about "another meeting". Re-watching I see it just said the reports had been read.
